God this book really is so good. While it's not my fav Malazan Book, it kinda feels like the strongest written, most cohesive, most tight and self contained book in the series. Like you could give it to someone as a standalone book and it's great.
Not only do you make sense you give us so much insight into the text which is always greatly appreciated. May I ask after this book are we going on to 'Night of Knives' or 'The Bonehunters' I've seen both recommended for the best reading order. Thank you.
you know… that is a great question! When I originally planned this reread, I wanted to intersperse Esslemonts books in publication order (so I would read Night of Knives). But Night of Knives would be the only “reread” of Ian’s books so it would be uncharted territory in a lot of ways (obviously because they are new books to me but also in terms of me having anything intelligent to say about them). That being said, I will probably stick to my plans and read Esslemont in between!
Yaaay! More Malazan content! I'm so happy! ❤❤
