Also, in Dr. Pennicott’s top 7 affordable sunscreens she talks about how kbeauty has access to way more ingredients in skincare bc fda stays lagging anyways she showed a few sunscreens that I’ve never heard of you should check it out! Cosrx also has a sunscreen but I don’t like fragrance in skincare so that’s the only reason I haven’t bought it to try.

I love sunscreens! Now I really only use sunscreens with the newer UV filters or that also give blue light protection.
    My favorite sunscreens
    - Anessa perfect UV spf 50 pa++++ gel
    - Self Beauty feel free sunscreen
    - Neutrogena Invisible daily defense
    - Emilia Invisible sun protection
Supergoop makes good sunscreens as well but they're wayyy overpriced for the UV filters they use.
    My favorite 100% mineral sunscreens
    - InZincable by Dr V. It's not fully invisible on my skin bit it's a great product and I'm still comfortable leaving the house after it settles
    - Pipette mineral sunscreen. Also not fully invisible but the cast wasn't horrible.
    Some general tips.
    - Reapply mineral sunscreens every 2-3 hours to avoid having the white cast build up after each application. Or after 2 hours wipe your face then reapply.
    - If you don't carry a teaspoon with you 😂 use two finger full of sunscreen for the face, neck, and ears. Then one more finger full to top off and ensure you've used enough.
    - Another myth is that physical sunscreens work right away and chemical sunscreens don't. They both block UV as soon as they come out the bottle. The reason it's recommended to wait 15-20 min is because that's the amount of time needed for the sunscreens to form an even layer on the skin (and this is true for both chemical & physical sunscreens).

Thanks for the tips! I’m with you for the type. I like Dr. V’s Inzincable too, except for the price/shipping. I just tried Kinlo by Naomi Osaka. Mineral for people of color. It’s tinted. I’m very melonated and it works for me.

I hope you still read comments for this video. My children and I just spent 8 days in Miami and I have never known anything about sunscreen...always believing that "black people" did not need it. Being a mother and trying to undo some of the stuff I was taught, I did lots of research before our trip. I loveddddd this video and actually laughed a little. I ended up purchasing the Aveeno and something called Black Girl Sunscreen. I paid 27.00 altogether so I don't know if that was a deal and I got a 5.00 giftcard back bringing the total down to 22.00. We used the Aveeno for our body and the BGS for our face and it was AMAZING. Thank you soooo much for your review, honesty and truly helping someone. And we have plenty left because it wasn't much needed every two hours.

Some decades later, everything has changed with the weather so we must protect ALL of our skin types from burning. Black people can sunburn and it hurts and its ugly. Pull out FRESH ALOE VERA not that bottled stuff to soothe it.

I'm fairly new to your channel, so IDK if you're familiar with Lab Muffin Beauty Science on TH-cam. If you haven't watched and you're interested in learning more about the science of skincare, Michelle is a chemist and she's amazing. She has a lot of sunscreen videos, and this video in particular does an awesome job of examining mineral vs other ("chemical") sunscreens.
I don't love that she uses the term "organic" without a very clear caveat that she's using the chemistry definition, which is very different from the way the word is used in everyday life. However, the info is accurate and really interesting!

      @azulposeido 2 ปีที่แล้ว

She’s good on the science but you mentioned that you care about the environment and that doesn’t seem to be a concern for her. Like she would say an ingredient is ok to use because studies so far say is generally safe but I’ve never heard her address the studies that say same ingredient is bad for the environment (water quality, flora, fauna).

I usually use spray chemical sunscreens to avoid the ashy look, but my black dermatologist recommended EltaMD's tinted SPF 46 sunscreen to me and it's the only mineral sunscreen that I've tried that doesn't make me look like the gross sisters. It blends flawlessly and is matte and oil-free with no eye or skin irritation, but it does not come cheap. It's usually around $40 but it does last for a while. I only use it on my face and stick with a chemical spray sunscreen for the rest of my body.
