they showed indian hindus specifically a cult worshiping kali as eating monkey brains, snakes and all kinds of nasty things and they portrayed amrish puri the main villian wishing to destroy all christans, muslims and jews. basically he showed hindus doing and syaing things which people from abrahamic relgions do and say. the director wanted to unite all the abrahamic religion people against hindus by showing hindus as villians and evil indirectly through that cult worshiping kali. I did not watch the movie and would never watch such pathetic movies but i read many reviews on IMDB in which people were saying these things.
@@nagraj1217 Yes I know, I watched the film when I was in the younger (I'm UK born and raised and both my parents are from India) and I remember I felt almost betrayed that Indiana Jones (I was too young to realise he wasn't real and that there are producers, directors and writers behind all films) would paint Indian people so falsely. It's a typical colonial fetish to dehumanise non-white people and this time it's the Americans doing it to the people of India.

Nagina is my favorite 80s film. It makes me so sad because all the persons involved has passed away be it Sridevi, Amrish Puri, Rishi Kapoor, Harmesh Malhotra, Lata Mangeshkar, Saroj Khan and Laxmikant. All brilliant people left us with this magnificent movie.

the premise behind the song is that she is a female snake whom the snake charmer has come to turn her back into a snake and take with him. However, she had promised her mother in law that will not take her snake shape again. However, the mother in law sent her son away on a bogus trip and called the snake charmer to capture her. Trying to stay true to her promise, she is resisting turning into a snake. And per they myth, if a shape shifting snake hears the snake charmer's flute, their eyes turn blue.
