Michael Sheen is a fantastic actor - didn't break a sweat in that scene
So is Ruth Wilson.
Ha, I see what you did there.
Well you know he has a condition…. 😅
Ha ha. Both true.
such a wonderful shape shifter as an actor
Ruth has got Emily’s voice very well.
The impression was awful. It was more Thatcher than Maitlis.
@@scottread far better than Gillian’s go.
Gillian's was terrible
So important ...so fake
It seems forced and unnatural. Really bad acting.
I’m too honorable to miss this movie
Ruth Wilson AND the phenomenal Michael Sheen
Sheen's past portrayals of Blair, Frost and Kenneth Williams were superb. Really looking forward to this.
Don’t forget his brilliant Brian Clough.
@@janeelliott6772 Yes, he was fantastic in 'Damned United'.
@@rogston39Not a football fan…..at all. Read the book, didn’t like it one bit but the film…..outstanding !!!
Brian Clough too
Both actors have done an outstanding job 👏
It's very interesting seeing the difference if this scene versus the same scene in the Netflix version. You can tell just by the tone of each scene that they come from two different accounts/perspectives (Emily Maitlis and Sam McAlister respectively). In this scene the palace (as in Prince Andrew and his staff) seems more aware of everything they're saying and is being more calculated than the Netflix version where they painted Prince Andrew as a child in a mans body (for lack of a better phrase) and his staff truly believing in him and what he said. I feel like the two versions are trying to tell different stories too which effects this scene as well as the entirety of the three episodes (which I am looking forward to watch). The Netflix version was Sam's story of her role, as well of the role of others, in the 95% that happened before the interview, whereas I feel like the Amazon version is going to look at the events from Emily's perspective before, during and after the interview. I want to make clear that both perspectives are valid and each version has a different story to tell so they are fundamentally going to be very different portrayals of the events surrounding this interview. I can't wait to watch the full thing
I hope someone does a compilation comparing the two side by side.
But they both seem to have the same characterization of Prince Andrew....
This amazon version was hurried in to fill the yawning gaps of credulity that such an interview could ever voluntarily be given. Of course they could only bridge those for the sheep and it will work a treat if they really have no strictly or enders to watch
Done so well with the casting here
Great portrayal of Maitlis by Wilson. Two great performances of Maitlis by Anderson and Wilson now.
I fast forwarded nearly all the maitliss stuff until interview as all the interesting stuff was about how they fictionalised the Palace behaviour leading up to the world's most unlikely interview. They made it is a credulous as possible but total fiction as Andy and the palace had no choice.
I can't stop seeing Tony Blair!
I can't stop seeing Mr Bean
Me too he’s a brilliant actor
Looks better than Netflix
I liked this much more than Scoop because it really skewers that pompous, entitled, narcissist Prince Andrew.
You know him personally? 😅
I like Stewart Lee’s adaptation
“MORE PADDINGTONS”
“MORE PADDINGTONS”
Sheen playing Blair And Andrew. Wonder how his soul is holding up.
Just goes to show what a certain individual really was .
You believe all this ? 😅
If that's how that meeting went then I don't know why he trusted her enough to agree to an interview.
Can't watch this on Prime Video in Australia. Disappointing.
Yes you can. I watched it last night
Go sailing
Is Sheen playing Mr Bean? He is nothing like Prince Andrew. I can’t even watch this!
I LOVE Sheen…and Joanna Scanlan but the Netflix show, Scoop seemed pretty definitive. Not sure why this exists.
They were being filmed at the exact same time, if I am not mistaken.
I think one was produced by Maitlis and the other by Sam.
Because you are allowed to have more than one version. Besides, Michael sheen.
Watching the Amazon show right now. The actors playing Emily and Prince Andrew do an excellent job.
Take it all back. Love the new show.
Unfortunately, I found it a bit like watching seals being clubbed in Canada. We know the story, not sure it needed another interpretation for effect.
Sorry, but Gillian Anderson’s performance outclasses this one by at least a trillion miles!
Why on earth would EM be so obsequious? Shocking
Until she gets agreement to do the interview.
Doing her job. Flattering the narcissist.
Can't get this on Amazon Prime in Ireland 😢
What does she say about water at the very start?
It's full of bacteria and oestrogen
How does this compare to Scoop?
Preferred Rufus Sewell as Andrew tbh. Had more of Andrew's bluster and arrogance.
TERRI COVERLY
This looks like a comedy show
🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
It has to as little of it is real
Now having watched entire show… I’m afraid I don’t enjoy Sheen’s performance at all…. Totally miscast. In fact I think the entire cast is odd
10 minutes into the first episode and they show dog turds in a living room......switched off straight away ....disgusting.
Jackson Amy Garcia David Hall Timothy
Very disappointing. Ruth Wilson was doing an imitation, not a performance (that silly deep voice?). Michael Sheehan is overrated and was wrong for the role. Again, more of a caricature. Writing was second-rate - they were portraying comms and journalism experienced professionals, however big the story was. These writers seemed to think they were all 17-year-olds on their first job. Scoop was much better.
They have to make the journos look innocent and andrew the shot caller. If the journos looked self assured it wouldn't look like andrew was in control which of course he wasn't one bit
Wait what’s this? They already made a Netflix show about this interview literally this year. With a lot better actors and likenesses as well
Better than Michael Sheen? lol.
@@kb4903 Not necessarily "better", they're both great, but Rufus Sewell looks much more like him.
@@kb4903 yes, the likeness was better, for everyone, this just looks like Michael Sheen in a wig
Ruth looks more like Maitlis than Gillian
@@kb4903 We all know Michael Sheen is a great actor but it is possible that somebody else can be better in a role than him. Rufus Sewell was in Scoop.
What a Load of Bland Deluded Tosh.
A bit like the Crown, just Aweful and Boring.
Get a Life and Give this a Miss😢😢😢
It was an excellent show.
Already been done! 😂🥱 zzzzzzzz
Right. And we all know that any story can only ever be told well once.
My daughter met Andrew once. She wasn't impressed. Said he was an arrogant creep
Sounds weird, only just glazed through this. Clearly using Beatrice as a make shift shield in the hope that the reporters wouldn’t ask too personal questions in front of her. Just my opinion.
Some clever moments ie: Andrew watching “Emily Maitlis” drop her shoes on her way to the interview (from the window)…endowed him with strength and arrogance. However….
Controversial but Ruth Wilson definitely did a better job portraying this character than Gillian Anderson did.
Feel like I don’t need to watch a second version of these events after Scoop. Prince Andrew just isn’t interesting enough. We already know what we need to know. Tell more important stories.
Michael Sheen memorably did Brian Clough ,this is equally impressive
The actting in this drama wos wonderful to hear Michelle. Do prince Andrew wos fantastic fun ❤❤❤❤❤❤
For a moment i thought this was Rik Mayal!
To think we were one Princess Charlotte away from a King Andrew.
I'm accused of watching this movie, however, i have no recollection whatsoever of having watched it.
I find the whole thing embarrassing.
Bringing his daughter in.....
Beatrice is too attractive!
The hair is wrong...
Rufus Sewell owned this part and the physical resemblance helped . I love Michael Sheen as an actor but for me this just isn’t working…
I agree. I'm not getting Andrew vibes from his performance.
This andrew is a pompous buffoon. They had to do that to make anyone believe he wanted the interview to clear his name once for all. He couldn't even have done that without anyone asking him questions. A pompous buffon with one mousy advisor might though....believe 😅
Agree 100%. Rufus Sewell absolutely nailed the part.
this is tye cheap copy of the Netflix movie
Na it’s 3 parts. Will go deeper. Ruth already looks better than Gillian as Emily.
Nope. This has Michael sheen.
The script on this is fantastic. I like the way it pays attention to the impact of ALL the women involved. (Including Fergi - didn't realise she was still hanging around)
@@bankhall1299 more like hanging on.
@@arianbyw3819 So Michael Sheen sneezes and he deserves an Emmy? Let's not get into this fawning over actors purely because of their name. Every part should be judged on merit and in this case he was miscast.
