  • Longtime supporter Nancy Stroud recounts the day the Afro-American Cultural Center doors opened at the former Little Rock AME Zion church site. In 1986, the Center relocated from Spirit Square to this historic structure at North Myers and Seventh Streets in the First Ward neighborhood. Stroud and other women blazed trails in Charlotte banking and the professional advancement of minorities within these institutions.
"50 Stories for 50 Years" celebrates the Gantt’s first five decades-emerging from an idea to an institution. This collection of filmed stories illuminates people, places, and the impact of the Center’s 50-year history. Collectively, these stories offer a glimpse of what’s possible during the next 50 years.
