The Lord of Murder shall perish. But in his doom he shall spawn a score of mortal progeny. Chaos will be sown from their passing. So sayeth the wise Alaundo.
If I remember correctly, the reason Bhaal plays such a pivotal role is because even though he came in third during the tests, he was in fact given the power over death (not the dead). Thus, he could deny Bane the deaths Bane required to enact his tyranny or deny to Myrkul the dead required to feed his armies. I think there's lore about him one-upping them after the contest, pointing this out to them when they crowed about beating him. In fact, I think it's lore that's written in things you find in one or both of the first two BG games. If you want good lore for them, read the Forgotten Realms "Avatar Series" (one of the ones they did with different authors for each book). It tells the story of their machinations from the perspective of following the group of Cyric, Kelemvor, Midnight and Adon when they were still mortal....and how some of them ascended to the pantheon of gods that exists now....and all about the plot with the tablets. Elminster's there too!

Nice video man! Looking forward for the video about the history of Baldur's Gate 1 and 2. I didn't play the games when I was young, and recently I tried to play but the graphics sucks so much and it's AD&D rules 🤣... Too late for me now, should have played ten years earlier 🤣. The history video will come in handy and give me some lore to start the BD 3. Thanks, man. Greetings from Brazil
Thanks for watching. I totally understand. You should have played 20 years earlier! Crazy that Baldur’s Gate 1 came out in 1998 and Baldur’s Gate 2 in 2000! Greetings from New York.
Didn't Cyric got the power of Bane, Bhaal and Myrkul after the Time of Trouble. Kelemvor get the portfolio of God of Death and Midnight replaced Mystra later after Helm kill Mystra.
You're wrong, but not entirely. Mystra was destroyed by Helm for trying to bypass him on the Celestial Stairway, but eventually a mortal woman named Midnight who was one of Cyric's companions before he betrayed them and ascended to godhood became the new Mystra. Bane was destroyed by Torm, Bhaal was destroyed by Cyric, and Myrkul was destroyed by Midnight herself, the next Mystra.
Been a few years I didn't read the trilogy of Midnight, Cyric and Kel. I didn't put all the info you added but I still remember most of what you write. I really like forgetting realm book. It was another era when you was playing with real dice, papers, and your player handbook version 2.
Does that mean that NWN2 Masks of the Betrayer isn't canon ? Or at least the choice of ending Myrkul for good ? Or just that Myrkulites worship an inexisting god ?

GR888TTT !
Isn't the lvl 10 low to encounter deities?
Meet them , ok. But fight them ? I think that would be fitting for a 15 lvl player
I would say yes, but we could encounter these three in more weakened forms. They are mortal now in the time of BG3 and no longer true gods. Maybe with the use of the environment and some NPC help we could take one of them out!
Is there a transcript on this?
The over god of faerun is AO. IO is the greater dragon god
Thank you sir.
Does that mean that NWN2 Masks of the Betrayer isn't canon ? Or at least the choice of ending Myrkul for good ? Or just that Myrkulites worship an inexisting god ?
MotB isn't canon. Myrkul's deific essence survives in the Crowns of Horns, and has done so since 2e.
I like your videos, really. Very informative and cool to watch &hear but...
How come that in the video you said that you might do the lore videos on past Baldur's gates just after Baldur's gate 3 is in creation? I mean...if you are a huge fan and a lover of Baldur's gate game, you would have done videos way before any of us knew about Baldur's gate 3. See where I'm going with this?
Thanks for watching but no I don’t really see where you are going with this haha. Did you know that Baldur’s Gate 1 came out in 1998 and Baldur’s Gate 2 2000? TH-cam wasn’t even close to being around.
@@WolfheartFPS your profile is 8 years old. Before announcement of BD3 you could have made videos about BD1 and BD2. That is my point. I hope you are not, as some people say, "tryharding" to make content of an exciting game that is to come. Not only that. I would personally appreciate you doing at least lore of the BD1 and BD2 since all i see is that you are a big fan nearly fully placing time and energy in BD3. This is my opinion but for whatever it's worth, i only desire to see someone with your set of skill and knowledge to give us viewer's all the angles, not only BD3. All of this is with respect but that is my opinion.
@@alexandarblake6191 Are you familiar with how the youtube algorithm works if he had made a baldurs gate 1 and 2 lore video back in the past no one would ever see it, because the search term for baldurs gate 1 and 2 would probably have burried it in all subsequent potential searches like "rpg" etc. it wouldnt have been worth the time for a youtuber to make such a video about games long dead. It makes sense now to extrapolate thier lore to ready people for the history for BG3. Is your you tube identity wrapped up in BG1 and 2 lore videos or something ?
You are the second person today I watched a D&D video of that got a name wrong. His name is not A-i-o., it is AO. Alpha and Omega, Ey-oh. Where is the i coming from? You don't say A-i-lpha, do you? Otherwise, fine video.
Bane is a woman?! Wow!
He did mention "he". I don't know. Wouldn't mind. Tyranny to women! :D
@@HeFromBelow I know. But Bane on the picture definitly has feminine features.
why does everyone call bhall as ball? something to do with english pronunciation?
there better not be a bunch of sjw bullshit in this game
Bane "art" looks ridiculous. Myrkul's little skull on a chain looks silly... Whoever made this has poor taste.
Dear God definitely not playing this trash game. Whoever took over this genera really lost course of how cool the original game is.
This is a dead generation of gaming. This game is trash
Always some dumb toxic uninformed idiot who has to voice his stupid opinion
The last part of the dead three being mortal again is something that was retconned ?! I thought they are just alive in fifth edition and thats it...?!
