    Thank you for the walk thru! I've never seen it done. I'm going to try.

      Glad I could help! There’s so many ways to do it, but this is just the easiest way for me. Hope it turns out 🤞🏻

    I started making my own stretcher bars exactly the same as you showed. I thought I was the only one who thought of it. The first ones I used a circular saw and then a friend gifted me with a real table saw. Then I purchased a cheap electric miter saw. So now the process is a bit more easier. I always paint on a pre-stretched canvas. I have fears of paint cracking or damaging my finished painting while stretching it.

      Yes, I feel like I’m crazy sometimes for doing it this way but I’m just working with what I have. Makes me happy to hear other people have gone through the same thing. Maybe one day, when I declutter the studio, I’ll get myself a table saw.
      But for working on unstretched canvas, I actually really love it. I feel like it gives me a lot more freedom to experiment. The pressure just isn’t there the same way a stretched canvas is! I’ve never had them crack on me, so let’s hope it stays that way 🤞🏻

      @@kghstudio Iv'e never felt pressured by the stretched canvas, except the pressure of locking in the bottom corners. Iv'e always been intrigued by the freedom of running the painting off the edges, it definitely has it's advantages. Most compositions require at least the bottom corners being locked in. I'm not sure how I would deal with that, while running off the entire canvas. Someday I will likely learn.
      I hope to soon move my studio into a larger space with much greater hight. Then I can set up for wall hangings. When planning a new studio, you either do it up right or be let down for your effort. So the investment is always much more than you imagined. That's the only thing holding me back now.
      I love your work. It has freedom written all over!

      @@ltwig476 yeah, everyone’s different which is why I love seeing how other people work! It always is more effort then you imagine both in time and money, but if you’re enjoying the process then I think it’s worth it

    Love the aesthetic, love the frames(composition), love the music choices, love the explanation, love how natural you are in front of the camera, love your Crocs.

    How do you work on an unstretched canvas?

    • @kghstudio
      @kghstudio  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I usually tape off the dimensions I want and then tape or pin it to the wall

    if you use the fence on that circular saw, you dont need to mark the whole board, and the cut will be more consistant, which i guess isnt a big deal, but it'll still make it easier to cut.
    edit: Puppy!!!!

      Definitely would’ve been easier, but I completely forgot about it. Plus I like to visually see the straight line, I get too paranoid without it! Next time for sure.
      But yes, Bueller’s always somewhere in the background lol.

      @@kghstudio i suppose that makes sense, sounds like the fence wasnt news to you anyway, making my coment unnecessary haha
