Cheiftain 19 in terms of education and academia yeah Harvard's the best, in terms of marching bands, Harvard's not that great lol even non Ivy Leagues are better like UC Berkeley or UCLA you can see this if you watch any of Harvard's pre game shows vs any of Cal's or UCLA's
Steve Buscemi I don't think the equipment is that old, at 4:49 you can clearly see that it's not. And besides, I think they focus on academics rather than a band program, which is pretty explainable......
Illegitimum non carborundum; Domine salvum fac. Illegitimum non Carborundum; Domine salvum fac. Gaudeamus igitur! Veritas non sequitur? Illegitimum non carborundum -- ipso facto! Ten thousand men of Harvard want vict'ry today, For they know that o'er old Eli Fair Harvard holds sway. So then we'll conquer old Eli's men, And when the game ends, we'll sing again: Ten thousand men of Harvard gained vict'ry today!
It's actually fake Latin :) not a translation but words made up by some students in the early 1950s "Illegitimos non Carborundum" - don't let the bastards grind you down!
Every home football game, a morning 'march' through the yard and the Square to the Stadium, and then back the same way after the game. Definitely a smaller crew than back in the day,
This brings back such great memories! I particularly appreciated the correct Latin pronunciation of 'Illegitimum non carborundum', though I missed the other Latin [censored] verse. Do you still use the slipcover I made back in the '80s for the Big Drum? [oboe and Ph.D. Linguistics '94]
As a HUB "crustie" (alumnus), I can say we march to our own individual beats - more of a walking band, as you can see.
It's kinda like satire, just having fun, not to be taken too seriously, Love it!
Now this is what marching bands should be like, celebrating fun and the culture of the school.
yes, this is definetly the funniest video I've seen in my entire life! Great fun
Niko Rüpke you’ve obviously never watched this one th-cam.com/video/yaODmtjH2MU/w-d-xo.html

tstanton_ Not only that but the drums are old and cheap. Don't they have money for proper instruments, being such a successful school?

tstanton_ _ OMG I THINK WERE FROM THE SAME SCHOOL OR MAYBE UR THE ORIGINAL BC OUR SCHOOL STOLE THE LOGO R U FROM STEVENSON HIGH SCHOOL IN ILLINOIS?!
tstanton_ _ I mean in general Ivy League schools just don’t have good marching bands
When they march in the stadium they are very well formed up, this was just for entertainment and fun.
They can understand so many hard questions but can understand left left left right left
I think the sloppy style is intentional. You can tell that they aren’t horrible musicians by any means, the music still sounds good.

The guy in the black trench coat is the best.
10,000 men of harvard - sung in Latin. Only at Harvard.

I think I saw Mark Fuckerberg, oh, Zuckerberg, marching through the square!
Very impressive. I've walked that stretch of Mass. Ave. going into the Square hundreds of times.
Boy this just made me sick
