That horrible realization when you have taken a route that is really difficult and you have gone too far, and/or can't turn the bike around so the only option is to keep going...the relief when you finally get back to something resembling a real road! Great review.
Had that happen when I decided to go ‘off road’ across south Wales to Fishguard on my way to Eireland. Got to the top of a ‘mountain’ cloud dropped within minutes and I was greyed-out! Had to chase sheep through the mist and bogs back to ‘civilisation’ - a white-painted farmhouse in the distance.
On the other side, marshalling on the ISDE and watching the pros launch through a farm gate and land halfway down a steep muddy field then slide sideways to exit the field from another open gate was a marvel to behold.
Oh, you are very welcome, just when I thought that it couldn't get funnier you get swamped by midges! You should sell this video to Ricky Gervais, honestly. I'm stuck in a hotel in Anchorage, the other side of the world from my family & this video has kept me chuckling all day! Thank you.@@LambChopRides
Finally! I have been waiting for this one, YAAAY! The WP XPLOR suspension is more than decent, it is actually very good suspension, so suspension is not something that they have "cheaped out" on with these bikes. I have the WP Xplor Pro suspension on my Husaberg FE 501 Enduro, it is race spec. I have to ride about 70 minutes highway to get to the nice offroad places where I live, and while it still sucks riding a bike like this on the highway especially if you are 200cm tall, it is perfectly doable. The engine is doing fine on the highway at 60-80 mph (100-130km/h) like mentioned in the video, it is just that you are sitting very high up and you get a lot of fatigue from the windblasts. The GASGAS ES700 is like my 690 ENDURO R 146 KG DRY, so with a smaller slip-on which removes the catalytic converter and basically makes it a full system made at least my bike weigh 156 kg fully fuelled when we put it on the old scale. Almost 100 KG lighter than the V-strom you rode with Greg against the Africa Twin, that is a big weight difference. Back to Enduro school for you old man And after that we want to see you and ole Greg ride the Desert X comparing it to the KTM 890 Adventure on some on and off road shenanigans! PS. Did you mean TET ? The Trans European Trail ? It runs through Sweden where I live and goes through whole Europe and even up to you guys in the UK.
Smashed my 690 Enduro R, thank God I didn't cheap out on gear, Klim adventure pants are in pieces but my ass (and knees) are in one. Careful out there boys.
The 360 survived. :) Yes, up here many of the routes I used in the past are closed. It's perhaps why I see loads of the supermoto version of this bike, hardly any of this one. Great review as always.
Laid up in bed with a bad back this morning this really cheered me up. Youve overtaken the Missenden Flyer as my go to TH-cam bike channel now. He needs more comedy and to start falling off a bit like you to keep us entertained like you do.😂 Oh and Andy's gone AWOL again this morning! Keep up the good work Chopsie
Well you definitely had a knee down !. Great video Chops , I’m sure this type of machine will be popular with the off on road younger riders who go and explore. It’s got loud styling and bright colours.
As an owner of a Husky 701 I can honestly say these bikes do not need re-mapping nor do I agree with Chopsy’s comment that they’re not any good for touring the country. People use these bikes for travelling the world never mind just the country. 👍
@@LambChopRides No, not remapped, the engine performance is standard. I've got an Akro on it but I've no idea whether that gives me an extra couple of HP or not. However I've got a Husqvarna FE350 as well and that will leave the 701 standing especially on the trails. Now that is an animal! 😳

Where can you ride onroad in the UK these days? The roads I know are full of holes, ruts, bumps, jumps and gravel. Is it any wonder people are turning to adventure bikes and suvs.
Never quite understand why KTM insists on marketing the same bike under 3 different liveries.I have owned 3 x 690's and they are wonderful off rd bikes.Cheers
I rode a CCM 560 MX bike converted to road legal to work (80 miles) and loved slicing thru traffic on it like a hot knife thru butter! Bars were high enough to clear car mirrors with ease, plastic was more forgiving of damage than expensive metal or ABS fairings, 300mm of ground clearance could manage any pothole London streets could throw at it!😊
Well choppsie after the week I have had full new hip and you have just made laugh which didn't think i could do at the moment, so thanks for that mate, and bye the way i know it's a gasgas but ktm have just got away of setting suspension up not like Japanese manufacturers just throw anything on and hope it works. Ride safe mate.
Best review yet Chopsy, you worked so hard you had a little lie down and the midge attack had me PMSL 😂 I'm a wagon driver and I think I might have chosen a better route than that but the van was not very helpful at all like you said. Shame all the green lanes and byways are disappearing they should definitely keep them open
Nice one Chopsy 😁 good to see you offroading again .... Never easy lifting a bike up off-road !!! Like lifting a mate off the ground that's well pissed.😀😀😀 a usual day in the countryside there , ate with midges , moaned at my dogwalkers , cars and vans clogging the place up 😁😁😁 especially midges in your Helmet 😁😁😁👍
I love this type of bike it's an all-rounder. A mototard set of wheels and tyres I think you would use it 90% of the time. it's a great commuter, a Sunday ripper with your mates and a spot-on green laner. do we really need a 200BHP bike? Just been for a rip around Cheshire on my mate xj600 on a + b roads fantastic fun, a lot of work. then came home on my Tiger Sport 1050. the tourer is easier to ride. I understand why you have both. enjoyed that well done.
Hello Lambchops, I have a quick Q relating to previous video on 690 SM to ask you: The remap on your pals bike & your own PC5 - do you know roughly what mpg you got after please? (I have 690 and am considering Rade aux tank but if need a remap after, wonder if that will consume the extra capacity due to lower mpg). Thanks. Saving this to watch later..
You could try getting on the pegs a bit more often, it gives you more controll and frees up the bike to move with the obstacles. I was quite often dropping the bike when I starten ridning Enduro 11 years ago but that phase will eventually end, you just need to put in the hours…, keep it up,,,, cheers!
Takes me back to when a bought a new DRZ400 to commute to work But I couldn’t help but go laning on it and doing wheelies and practicing supermoto slides on it As you can imagine it ended up on the floor many times but it was so durable you could just pick it up and off you went again
When I was young, a lot of people rode the dirt roads in my village on MC machines (illegal, but nobody cared, we also had 4 dead in 5 years, colliding with a rope, a barbed wire fence, a cyclist and an agricultural tractor) Belgium was world leading in MC at that time. Maybe silent electric dirtbikes will bring this back someday.
It's crazy how comfortable and seamless you look riding on the streets, and how completely out of your element you look on the trails 😅 I've ridden dirt and trails since a child, no motocross or anything serious, plenty of full bore motocross bikes though (bought my first CR250R at 11yrs old, first "big" bike, not first bike), so I'm the opposite of you, super comfortable off-road, plenty of street experience with my last trio of bikes being the CBRXX Super Blackbird and a pair of CB750's(one single, one dual cam), but I'm nowhere near as proficient on the streets as yourself....all I can say is, balls of your feet for dirt, not your arches, and relax, let the bike and it's architecture do the work.

Ps I've gone back to mountain biking where I live in Cotswolds most of the restricted byways would be fine all year use. But I the case of uk a lot on people just don't like off road green lanes . We have to many London set here which doesn't help. As for Salisbury plain last three time we went army had red flags up so many of the byways shut which really limits you tracks. As for the gravel roads are just boring.
Great view on green lane riding. Now reall bit pointless so much is restricted or made out to be by signs taken out. I have a beta 300rr ace bike but as you say comprised for road. Plus tyres are everything off road chalk in the wet like ice. Don't forget tractors and horses can still use them. 200 kg adventure bike 😂 more like 240 plus with fuel. Personally should may be only use byways say 6 until midday on a Sunday and a say Tuesday.
