Another rip-off from Wim Oude Weernink's 1978 book about LA LANCIA. This time I read the D20-DD23-D24-D25 chapter and add video and photos to the tale. Enjoy!
I was very much into sports car racing as a youth in the 1950’s but I don’t remember the Lancia sports racers. This is a superb in depth video packed with information, really great.
There was one of these at the old Autohause in Santa Rosa California. The owner had an SBC and a muncie trans installed in it. My old freind Bob did the conversion. He made a mold of the Lancia name on the original engine and used liquid steel to put it on the block of the SBC. The SBC actually said Lancia on it. It actually confused a couple of people. Later someone changed the engine back. The same guy did the same thing to a Ferrari he had, it was later changed back as well. The original Ferrari engine was installed in a 56 Chevy 110 sedan. It replaced the 6. I believe the chevy transmission was retained.
This film has given me a new respect for the under-appreciated cars from Lancia. I also loved hearing about the drivers who thrilled my youth; what heroes they were! Some of the cars had graceful, flowing lines, and were absolutely gorgeous even when standing still.
Great video. I saw the D24, I think it was, in the Turin Museum "Museo Nazionale dell'Automobile" some years go. I was amazed, I knew nothing of it previously and it seemed so advanced with for example inboard front brakes. Still drums of course. Most astonishing of all was the Alfa Disco Volante, which I had also never heard of. Sorry, not a Lancia😞
Love the burble of that exhaust as it changes pitches as it zooms around the corners. I would have killed to get one of these back in my youth in the 1950s-1960s....
beautiful video and photo, the D 25 of Lancia Collection will be restored from my team in 2013 and used in many events, like D 50 Formula 1, not only Rosani and Basso
Such a shame Lancia decided to keep this engine for competition purposes only. Would they have made it fit their roadcars (Aurelia/flaminia) they could have competed with Maserati and the like.

Per, thank you so much. You created a valuable video!
By the way, a book written by Taruffi is very good, it is applicable to the modern day driving
thanx, I just bought the last one in stock at the publisher :)

Remeber, the text is from 1978 :)
@@ultimostile yes, but the video of D 25 in Castel Arquato made in 2013, anyway is very important to speak of Lancia story
I was surprised that competition cars were often RHD when used in European races.
Great! I really loved this .
Super nice video
