Good overview of neighborhoods in the Twin Cities for young people moving to the area. Steve helped us buy/sell back in 2018. He proved to be dependable, thorough, and thoughtful.
I grew up in NE in the late 90s as a kid and loved it. I was at Windom, Waite, and Audubon Park almost every single day. Oh and the big ass swimming pool on Johnson St was the spot to hit up in the summer!
Looks like Northeast is the place to be these days. It's pretty amazing how this neighborhood transformed itself over the last 20 years. Once a thriving industrial district with very modest homes, it's now an Arts & Restaurant hotspot. Minneapolis tends to demolish old buildings, but luckily, that hasn't happened in NE. Instead, many, many of these interesting old buildings have been converted to artist studios. I grew up right across the street from the Northwestern Casket Company, when it was an active factory producing coffins. Now it's the "Casket Arts" building housing hundreds of artists who make their living from their art. The fact that the vast majority of housing stock is quite modest and affordable opens the door to gentrification that produces $$$ returns.
Really trying to push for moving to Minneapolis and Northeast was probably the biggest place suggested to me being that I am an aspiring musician/DJ, I am just about to hit my 30s and I’m more looking for an apartment, but it really seems like there’s not a lot of conventional apartments in North East, most of the places are rooms in peoples houses or actual houses. Can you suggest any apartments in Northeast? Thank You for these videos, they’re really helping.
Appreciate the content you're putting out :) Currently reside in Texas but am looking to relocate here in the next 3-5 years and MN is at the top of our list of places. :) Will definitely reach out when we get closer to the time.
Our absolute pleasure! Thanks for the comment and congrats on the new plan!

I loved living in NE Mpls, in my 20s, 41 now. I worked several years for a smoke shop in NE, but we were forced to close down, due to local and state politicians who hounded and harassed us. They would send obviously underaged people to buy our products, which were 18+ at the time and now 21+. We passed 100% of our compliance checks. They didn't give up and kept pushing tax hikes on cigarattes/tobacco, which got approved. Our small business couldn't keep up, because consumers would go to SD or WI for cheaper prices. My boss finally had enough and gave up. He was an immigrant from the Middle East.

Agreed on this! I’m so glad they’ve saved so many the old factory buildings.
Great video, happy you remade this one.
Thank you!! It’s a great spot and deserved a better video! Haha

Lots of private schools, and diversity, good ethnic restaurants.
CATHOLIC SCHOOLS
WHat did you have for breakfast? Cigars? You breathe like me 😆😂🤣
Hahah! Sometimes when you’re walking and talking to a camera you forget to breathe!
Steve looks like a good dude
Seriously an excellent dude!
Is there a neighborhood in NE district that is more walkable to shops and restaurants?
I went there twice to the NE and saw no art whatsoever! Where are these art spaces? 😄 I need a map or something
Me participating to boost analytics! Peace
