I can relate! In 1973 my husband and I, both just 17 years old, brought our daughter home from the hospital in a cardboard egg box tucked between the seats on the floor of our 1964 Chevy van we had converted to a camper. Just weeks before her delivery we were camped out on the racetrack at Watkins Glen for the biggest, in fact, record-breaking, history-making outdoor concert of all time! At now 65 years old I still “van camp” in my 1999 Volkswagen Rialta mini-motorhome with aspirations of one day going full-time. While my daughter didn’t inherit my love of camping, thankfully she does have a great affection for the music of my generation!

These vans remind me of the 70s. My uncle started a van club in SoCal back in the 70s(MidEvil Vans). I remember going to what they called van happenings back in the day. There were bands it was fun. Even though I'd have to watch from the van it was still fun.

It's a SMALL SMALL WORLD. It's KeVAN from Long Beach, CA. We finally met in person at Spring Fever - Bevier, MO. I was about to leave the beach this afternoon after my daily beach walk & this guy and gal were passing my van. The guy asks me what year my van was. I replied " It's a 1990 Chevy Astro, custom ized & painted in 1991." He complimented me on the paint job. Needs a visor like the one in the pic. Has the rivets across the front. 5 or 6 on each side. I can't find a vid of a van with that kind of visor and matching chin spoiler. I had a 76 shorty. Black louvers, ladder, luggage rack, same grill with dark headlight covers. Exact same color as The Wild Cherry, and the same color pin striping, just not as much. Just outlines a stripe down the side and across the hood. No fender flares of any kind. 3 point mirrors.
Interesting information about how the sink was used, as a toilet and bidet. My neighbors had a van in the 1970s with shag carpeting and they called it a f*ck truck. If the vans rocking, don't bother knocking.
