Wonderful list! All of these I still need to see except M. My top three for 2022 are 3. The Passion of Joan of Arc 2. Pygmalion 1. The Browning Version
Love the list, a few of those will definitely need to be moved up on my watchlist. My personal top 10 Criterion movies would be 10. A Face in the Crowd 9. The Seventh Seal 8. Throne of Blood 7. Devil in a Blue Dress 6. Diabolique 5. Seven Samurai 4. Wild Strawberries 3. Modern Times 2. High and Low 1. Ikiru
Love this list. "Diabolique" is flippin amazing, as is "High and Low." Must see your other pics and am thankful you've effectively underscored them for me. Here's some of my absolute fav Criterion's thus far, if interested: 1. Paris, Texas 2. A Woman Under the Influence 3. La Strada 4. Bicycle Thieves 5. Rome Open City 6. Some Like it Hot 7. Band of Outsiders (tie with Il Sorprasso) 8. Paths of Glory 9. Loves of Blonde 10. Jules et Jim (Truffaut)
My favorite Criterion first time watches of the year were Raging Bull, Walker, Take Out, and Arsenic and Old Lace!!!! I need to see a lot of the ones you mentioned here!
Great video nathan! For me my favorite Criterions of 2022 were 5. Arsenic and Old Lace, 4. Notorious, 3. The Lady Eve, 2. The Awful Truth, 1. Sweet Smell of Success
Wow, great top 5! I love Sweet Smell of Success! I've only seen it once, but it does such a good job at showing the life of the city both at night and in the day! Also a huge fan of Notorious, probably my favorite of your top 5!
What are some Criterion’s I should purchase (Own 12 Angry Men, In the Heat of The Night, Paths Of Glory, Dr Strangelove, Notorious, Bringing Up Baby, The Seventh Seal, Anatomy Of A Murder, Some Like It Hot and A Hard Day’s Night).
First off, let me just say you already have an awesome collection going! 12 Angry Men, Anatomy of a Murder, and Notorious are some of my favorite movies of all time! Some movies that I personally love that I would recommend you add would include: Fail Safe, Citizen Kane, The Bridge, Diabolique, Destry Rides Again, Dick Johnson is Dead, The Freshman, A Raisin in the Sun, Sweet Smell of Success, Wall-e, and honestly any movie I mentioned in this video, with an emphasis on the top 5!
Paris, Texas. A woman under the influence. Pickup On south Street. Rome Open city. Il Sorprasso. LA strada. Band of Outsiders. Bicycle thieves. Loves of a blonde. Rififi. 39 Steps. Tunes of glory. Paths of glory. Black girl. La Promesse. Late Spring. Thief. Green for Danger. Ace in the hole.
