- The Soviet T-62 was developed as a stopgap measure while tanks like the T-64 were being created. The T-62's development created some division in the Soviet's high command, with the gun being a particular point of contention. When it was discovered that the M60 would have a 105mm main gun, it was demanded that the 115mm gun be used, as it was bigger. The smoothbore 115mm gun was revolutionary in its own right, being the first gun to fire APFSDS in service.

I know that the Egyptians were not trained in the use of the autoloader, and therefore only loaded one round at a time, the process was very difficult

What I really enjoy about this series is it isn't just "Here's what Gajiggles got wrong", it's informative, unbiased, and in some cases can illustrate why Gaijin didn't include all these bits and pieces. Could you imagine how frustrating it would be to be detracked just because you tried to Tokyo Drift a T-62? I'm sure it was equally frustrating for the real drivers, but we don't get paid to drive a T-62.

Why do tanks like the T-62 and AMX-13 eject the spent shell casings while the Abram’s and other MBTs don’t? What are the advantages and disadvantages of it?
Mainly because of the auto loader I believe
Abrams has disintegrating casing . Only the base plate remains intact after firing . They look like paper plates . This means there's really no need to eject the remains .
Some tanks hold the spent casings and get rid of them later, while the T-62, T-72, T-90, and AMX -13 just get rid of it there and then. It's mainly because these tanks have small interiors and can't waste space on empty casings.
The abrams casing burns up in the gun, leaving only the primer casing, modern russian tanks have automatic ejection, and older tanks usually kept the spent casings inside the tank
To save space. They aren't very roomy tanks, making it hard to store spent shells. This is part of why you see everything after T-62 use 2 piece ammo.

That tumbnail is T-62 number 314. It is from Liberec (Czechoslovakia), during invasion of Warsawa pact in 1968. 2 people died in that accident.

Interesting video idea: The role of a tank during or in city combat since a friend of mine and I had a discussion about tank city combat, their role and if they should be used at all in this scenario. Since we are German, and he is at the Bundeswehr his point is that tanks should never enter a city/urban area, my stand is that they should like in fallujah (2004) and that there is a reason why the TUSK-package for the M1 exists. What is your view on this subject, I am sure that you have way more Literature and knowledge on this topic.

Spookston can you check out an insanely OP French bomber its tier one but I don’t remember the name it also carries odd bombs, which there are 52 of
EDIT: it can climb much higher than other planes of its BR it can then dive and release all its bombs and then climbing back up so it can do the same making it extremely effective against airfields and bases

i dont really see a reason for complaining about it, its got quite a lot of bombs but its slow and very vunerable to fighters if one attacks. i'd just say it'd be moved to 1.7 or 2.0 since the one with much better gunners sits at 2.3

The Strv 81 should have a modification to mount a 105mm l7.
The strv 101 should have a modification to mount Blazer ERA, laserrangefinder and LYRAN illumination flare lanuchers.
The strv 81 Should be a Mk5 and not a mk3 since most of them were mk5(160 mk5 and 80 mk3).
The strv 101/81 should be able to mount a 8mm machine gun on the commander cupola.
The strv 104 should have a 1/10x zoom gunners optic.
The strv 104 should have acces to the Slpprj m90 apfsds.

I would actually love to see the Malyutkas amd the rangefinder on the T-62. ATGMs at thoes BRs are very fun to use but not a lot of vehicles have them unfortunately.

Wow, quite surprised about some of the tech they used on this tank. I always thought the T-62 was just a regular ol Russian tank. But a laser range finder and a remote missile, that's pretty neat.
It was pretty much just a more expensive Russian tank when it came out: if I remember right, the laser range finders were added roughly when the third generation NATO tanks started coming out, so the updates wouldn't really help the T-62 very much simply because of how big the gap in overall technology became.
If there was one jet I could have in WT and then a Historically accurate video made on it it’s be the Swedish Saab Draaken YF-35

The one thing that still pisses me off is the fsct that searchlights just dint exist at all in war thunder, theres plenty of tanks that had lights that could be used in nighttime battles like the crusaders

@@Nimori if it was standart HE warhead than probably yes, because 3.7 kg of TNT can pen 37 mm in direct hit (Jagdtiger 128 mm HE shell, same TNT equivalent) vs 30 mm roof. But its HEAT so fragment velocity is reduced and the shockwave is mostly directed towards missile nose, and missile is elevated.

I know this series was probably started as a joke response to all the "historically accurate" nonsense people spout. But as a tank nut, I really enjoy the series as it gives a peice of insight as to how these vehicles actually performed, or what was used in what way/quantity. It’s an excellent series, and I would lorikeet to see it expand.
There were versions of T-55 with two Malyutkas on it also, so it's kinda logical... Those versions did not have a gun, tho... IR vawe spectrum detector is not useful only in the absence of light, ie night, it's very useful tool in heavily brushed and forested areas, or any multicolored terrain where human eye often has troubles in recognizing specific objects

It's a hover tank, which threw me off. After seeing it, I though it was more of an IFV, but apparently it's a converted cargo transport.

Something I haven't seen you talk about is missile arming distance. Most of the time this wouldn't be a concern, but not every missile shot is at long range.

at 1:28, that t62 reticle, is there a mod for making reticles accurate and realistic? And can it be used in online public games? I always hated looking through the same ugly reticle for my entire playtime of the game. Games like squad and arma have spoiled me and made me want realistic reticles and tank optics for tanks..
