+The Book Incarnate it gets me a bit nostalgic, i start to remember about my ex (well, i broke up with him 2 days ago, but still hurts as fuck) yeah, is kinda sad, but now our souls have to reborn and go to 2:07 ♥ (sorry for my spanglish)
This is funny because AAL always felt cold and mechanical to me, I mean I could feel the energy and rush through their songs, and I love their style, but I still had a sens a clinical technicity (not that technical genres are always cold, but this band particularly felt this way to me) That was before I listened to this whole album at once There are still other bands (as TesseracT or Dream Theater) that give me way more chill, but this album is truly a masterpiece, and there are some.moments that almost gave me goosebumps, this is a true journey Sorry for my wrong English
This is one of my fave songs in this album. Both the solo and outro is amazing. The solo draws a feeling that makes want to be in a safe place, while the outro tells you there's monsters out there. This song has a message that I can't seem to put in words... This is music.
I still can't believe my two favorite guitar players, misha and tosin, lived right down the street from each other growing up 👍👍 inspiration lies in whatever town they emerged from
I just wish it was louder, haha - I feel like that's the most turned down part of the song. I get that it's fading out and all, but fuck. Such a sick way to end an album, I'd love to hear it a little better.
TraceofHatred It's called the side-effect of the Loudness Wars. This album has been heavily compressed and limited - the limiter is pumping the loud sections down. Do the research and you'll know what I'm talking about, and you will see why this album sounds dull from a mastering perspective.
marshall C Not really. Only if you're thinking in terms of scale. Obviously there are more moving parts in a full orchestra but the complexity in these 4 instruments trumps that imo.
Longrod Von Hugendong The album has good ideas, virtuoso technique, a pretty stationary harmony and a heavily loop-based structure (typical in most popular music). Also, there's not much of thematical development (and I doubt we're justified to speak of 'themes' in this kind of music - just like we don't in baroque or some of contemporary classical. Rather riffs, motives, not even actual phrases). A symphony revolves around well-directed thematic manipulation, with quite advanced and rich harmony, plus the form, obviously (sonata-allegro, rondo etc.) I would only compare an AAL album to a symphony if they actually aim at building that kind of material.
I stand by it being loop-based. Consecutive repetitions of very short chunks of material are everywhere. And that's the paradigm in most popular music. Nothing wrong with it, plus, AAL are one of my definite favs for what they do. Still, this music is very differently constructed than your usual symphony, a wholly different approach (I'd find more similarity to Philipp Glass or John Adams here than to a "Beethoven sonata")
Tosin's guitar solo on this track is one of the most satisfying things my brain has every interacted with. Hits me so hard. Really love Javier on this one too. Well done sir. And Matt took the great album part and made it so much more fun live.
I am not crazy for the djenty intro but as soon as it goes into the clean part and the distortion kicks in, it creates a great emotional reaction within me. The sounds of sadness, hope, perseverance, power, as if you're the only thing left standing after you were in a tornado and watched it tear apart everything you love but you're still alive. I just wanted to say that this song Is very special to me. Thank you.
@@michelvispress-lay2510 True that, Tim and Tosin have their own styles, and poly has a distinct hip hop/trap quality while AAL can do whatever they want lol
This album is so damn good. It has all those heavy riffs from weightless and all the melodic progression from the self-titled album. A perfect combination.
I like to think of this song as the movement through ones life. The beginning is chaotic as it would be when you're brought into this world and everything is new. Then the solo comes in and thats when you're old enough to understand the beauty of life, your mortality and everything around you. Then the chaos comes back as you grow older and you deal with your regrets and what-ifs. Then finally the breakdown closes out the album, fading out slowly, representing everyones inevitable fading from existence, and the inability to cope with death.
The only album ending that matches this is the ending of Periphery II. This is such an epic outro, absolutely in love with the fill Garstka does right at the very end of the fade out, you can only hear it if you listen hard but it's genius.
this is the best song I've ever heard! It has everything in it! omg thanks that i discovered this band!!!! Hard, Melody rhythm, i can not describe this is a crazy beauty it is soooooo special you have to listen to it then it will stay in your head forever I will guarantee you!!!
The lead guitar at the beginning reminds me of Tony MacAlpine's tone on Planet X's Moonbabies album. Also a monster album for those interested in atmospheric "jazz metal" of the highest level.
I know AAL doesn't have a bassist but kinda always wondered if Matt should be their secret bassist who tracks and writes all of it like just to add that little "Whoa! Dude!" element. I know Nolly did it here but it's nice to think of stuff like that.
+Shubham Verma it just has a meshuggah vibe. Like in Lethargica at around 2:50. Or Obzen, nebulous, new millenium cyanide christ, i, in death is death, etc
Thank god for this band
1:15 absolutely beautiful

Nathan Hassall I
It's like a nice " Beetles" feel or "Jimi Hendrix" ... The perfect guitar sandwich is this song
Am I the only one who appreciates the interlude the most? There are few sounds that can bring me to tears just like that
Nope i'm with you there its perfect if it wasn't there this song would still be good but with it, its amazing.
the interlude and the solo are so insanely good
This is funny because AAL always felt cold and mechanical to me, I mean I could feel the energy and rush through their songs, and I love their style, but I still had a sens a clinical technicity (not that technical genres are always cold, but this band particularly felt this way to me)

Love how it transitions from a sort of calm, relaxing melody at 1:15 and then 2:07 comes out of nowhere like a beast..
I think the same, thats why i love this masterpiece, it's so brutal that transition, it's like falling from heaven straigth to hell
This is one of my fave songs in this album. Both the solo and outro is amazing. The solo draws a feeling that makes want to be in a safe place, while the outro tells you there's monsters out there. This song has a message that I can't seem to put in words... This is music.

Perfect clean section holy crap
That ending left a brown present in my trousers.
Amazing album.
Hahahahahahha funny comment dude.
The real question is, what was Tosin doing in my back door? eyyyyy
Henry Dale Heh. I got it. :3
lol...truly disturbing! But way funny....
And yes it is amazing!
The most important thing is to live in the present! 😂
The passage from 2:07 to 3:10--KILLER!!!
That outro sure hits you hard when you first hear it 3:42 sounds menacing as fuck!
That clean section is the most beautiful piece of music I’ve ever heard. How moving! So much emotion. Absolutely amazing.
2:07 best riff
I agree. Fucking outstanding.
1:14 favorite part.

As if this song wasn't amazing enough... once its over, i get to hear Kascade again. Love this album.

This album is like a Beethoven symphony for the modern era.
a symphony is only about 1000x more complex than a prog song.

The intro sounds like Misha.

Listening to this on my home stereo and those taps at 1:40 run around the speakers counter clockwise...epic song, epic album
meanest outro ive heard in a long time. reminds me of masamune.
Pure gold, the perfection of this album is unmeasurable
Was not expecting that outro.... WOW (then replays it 100 times). A GREAT way to end the album! Props AAL!!!!
+Ruth Francis I hadn't really listened to this song and then I first heard it live. dat outro, awesome.
that intro juggies, that crazy solo, that 'where-is-my-ship' doubt part, that cocky solo, that juggies, that breakdown
love this song
I know I’m late but this is HARD AS FUCK

amen to that
Some try to compare AAL and Polyphia. IMHO, AAl got a thousand times more guts even if Tim Henson is the devil himself.

For some reason, I read that in Hulk Hogan's voice.
So evil and br00tal

My favourite song from the album. I'm a guitarist (could never play this) but I love the drum track in this song, Matt is a machine.
I like to think of this song as the movement through ones life.

I think a lot of Animals songs are structured in a similar manner, whether macro or micro they're all the hero's journey.
Back to the main riff after the last solo.....life is still chaotic, but now you have a better, smoother grasp on it. Notice the much groovier feel.
Wow 1:15 onwards is so beautiful. it just gets better and better from that point too! perfect
2:07 i don't know why this reminds me of Tool, so awesome and beautiful
hell ya. these guys definitely got some Tool abnormal-time-signatures shit going on.
A little bit
Kalimba really reminds me of Tool. although all people compare it to is Metallica just because of the snare tone...

By far my favourite AAL song, generally feeling like lifting mountains on this.
That solo interlude is so melodic!reminds me of Satriani and Kotzen!
By far the best track off of this album
I wish they would have ridden that riff @ 2:07 forever. It's just so damn amazing
They took an alien as a guest in the outro, exceptional
HAHAHAHAHAH 🏆 It comes from the clouds, thus Nephele, and collects the whole band into the spaceship. That's precisely why the song fades out.
Love the implementation of the Hendrix sounding stuff around the 1:15 mark through 2:07!
Top 3 AAL song. One of the best metal albums of all time. Completely changed the way I look at music.
