They should call those trees show stoppers because even people that don’t care for landscaping actually stop to look at it lol but they’re so beautiful and I planted two of them for my mom but after it’s 3rd year they never came back :( so I just bought a Jane from Home Depot today and I’m planning to have it in a planter 😊it’s small right now

I live in northwest Florida, I am looking at videos for the Magnolia x soulangeana, so I reckon that's why your video popped up in my recommended. My mom used to call it her tulip tree. They are beautiful. I wish I would have dug up her tree when she sold her property. I will be searching the local garden centers nearby this year for one. I have a spot in mind in my front side yard where I am developing what I hope will be a lovely cottage garden. Happy gardening!

Thanks for sharing those beautiful blossoms! My Susan Saucer Magnolia is still in the bud stage but I cannot wait to see its blooms as I only planted it last year. Spring is the best :)

That’s so fun! Don’t you love seeing plants waking up and starting to put on leaves and buds. Spring really is the best…but our weather is also so up and down in April, so it’s kind of a teaser at times. It’s so pretty!

I have this flower about 5' now. I want to plant it to the ground, however I am afraid the root will spread horizontally. I want to ask if I still have the plant it in the pot, but put the pot to the ground in my landscaping (for steady & control root spreading) Do you think the tree can survive with root in the 36" pot - and the pot in the ground? (My tree is Betty Magnolia)

Is this Saucer Magnolia in your yard in full hot afternoon sun? I have a Sweet Bay Magnolia that is in full sun all day but also the hottest part of the day - it seems to be doing ok, but I'm always confused about what Full Sun means. Thanks 🙂

Hey! So my summers are hot and dry. We get 100 plus temps for a long time. Mine gets some afternoon shade at around 2 pm under a larger tree. But I have seen larger more established trees in full sun. Full sun means 6 plus hours throughout the day whenever that may be…but some trees/plants can’t handle the intense heat in the afternoon in really hot climates. We don’t get humidity often so that also plays a role. If your summer aren’t as hot plants/trees can handle the afternoon sun and be fine. For example Japanese maples do best here protected from the intense heat in the afternoon, so I would like to put them where they get morning sun and afternoon shade. But In a more mild climate it would be fine to have sun all day. The magnolia as it gets more established will handle the full sun okay, at first it might get a bit of leaf scorch until it gets bigger, but it will be fine. Anyway, it’s basically six hours of sun in the day. If it’s in the afternoon in hot climates getting sun…maybe 4 hours, I would considered that full sun where I live because it needs a bit less in the afternoon as opposed to the morning sunlight that isn’t as intense. Anyway, I know it can be confusing, but it depends on your climate. How are your summers?

Few last comments…south facing beds typically get full sun all day, east facing beds gets morning sun until around 1/2 and afternoon shade around the house, north facing typically gets morning sun for about 4-5 hours (around the house) and west facing gets that intense afternoon sunlight, but not a lot of morning sun (around the house) 😊

@@FlowerFanatic Right ok - I live in Maryland Zone 7b - we do get heat and humidity - sometimes long stretches of 95-100 het index and most of my plants get a good amount of sun in the front of the house with that break in the afternoon, then behind my house, it's shady until about 1 and then the hottest sun hits. The Sweet Bay is where this sun beats down but it's handled it like a champ so far - about two full seasons. Thanks for your feedback - I've subscribed to your channel now~
