  • Old money. What is it and where can we find it?
Well, in the United States, it refers to an elite class of individuals for whom money has been in the family for generations. For some, it could go as far back as the colonial days of America. For others, perhaps only 100 years. Generally, it is those who come with at least four generations of inherited wealth, together with high social status.
As the South played major roles in America’s history, one can expect it to be no stranger to old money.
Today, we’re diving into those upscale communities scattered throughout the Southern states that may not necessarily be the richest in the nation. However, when you come across them, you certainly pick up old money vibes.
Our tour will take you down the Mississippi, along the eastern coast, and to some random spots we bet you didn’t even know about down. And yes, we are going to talk about how these locations accumulated their wealth in the past.
So without further delay, here are the top 10 old money communities in the south.

Macon, GA. Macon is a treasure trove of old money mansions whether it is the Intown Macon area or the Shirley Hills or Stanislaus neighborhoods. The architecture is amazing. While visiting a mansion in Natchez, the docent asked where I was from and I replied Macon. He laughed and said, "Why did you come to Natchez to see fabulous homes and architecture, my wife and I actually visited Macon to see the fabulous homes." Oh well, sometimes you take for granted the beauty that is around you.

Buckhead while exceedingly wealthy, is not a city but a district of Atlanta that was incorporated into the city in about 1955. Looks as if city hood for Buckhead "Buckhead City" proposition went down in flames agin this year and I find it ironic that Lenox Square mall has had to install metal detectors at the entrances. So, trust me on this; if you live in Buckhead, you live in the City of Atlanta. If one is going to live in Buckhead, you want to be on or around W. Paces Ferry Road in close proximity to the Governor's mansion or around Tuxedo. The rest of it is so, so.

It wasn't the beautiful buildings that saved Savannah. It was a group of Savannah's influential & Wealthy citizens led by The Mayor who saved the town. They contacted and surrendered the town to Sherman well before he even entered the city, and begged him not to do to Savannah what he had done to the rest of the state of Georgia. Sherman relented and Savannah was saved. As a Georgian who loves Savannah, I'm glad they did what they did to save the town. The war was Lost already and there was no military reason to Raze Savannah to the ground. However, when he got to Charleston Sherman made up for giving Savannah a pass, and Played Hell In Charleston

The world wants E.I.C. where Middleburg used to be! I'm just buying what's mine, after I do, the property value will increase, but there would also be a business plan, so people can build within the confines of the regulatory committee. These plans require votes, because I'm not buying, but there would best be two basis for eminent domain. It doesn't matter, you have to be reasonable because it will already likely be the place of the highest valuations of realty. There's more to gain once it's built, and people will see a pace of production on par with developing economies, but for the wealthy's new city.

Though there's been a big push in the last few years with the influx of outta state folks leaving numerous other States for the lower housing costs of Natchez(other areas too). Quite a number of them have plowed big sums and had some nicely finished product.
