I watched the german interview and I don't think David Foster Wallace tried to come across as dumb. He had a self-conscious and rather insecure personae. He was probably aware that people thought of him as highly intellectual person because of his books and perhaps he felt like an imposter, who couldn't live up to his reputation. People tend to attribute almost super human qualities to people that stood out in the way David did and I think his mental health was too fragile to handle it. He knew that he was smart, but not as smart as people thought he was.
Poetry loses a lot when you translate it in terms of the rhyming and the sounds. It's best to read the poems in their original language. That, of course, is easier said than done.
Me: there's no way I missed another group hang? checks phone: perfectly vivid notification. Bring back the MSN nudge function--errryepyep gotcha my phone does do that. I almost posted in the group twice today for community vibes for now I'll keep "working" on my next Substack post (it's so dumb it's making me very happy) which started--you'd never guess (yeah, we're literally not here)--while distracted during writing my next Substack post. This video should only take me 8 hours to get through

If you listen to other interviews that aren't the big Charlie Rose or TV ones, he doesn't act like that. WWE
