Here's some *advice for Turmoil*: 1). You *do not* need to connect your pipes to the very bottom of the oil deposits. Anywhere on the deposit is going to suck out all the oil. 2). *Do not* spend too much money when bidding for land. $2,000 should be the maximum you bid for a plot of land otherwise you could lose a lot of money on a plot which has very little oil. 3). It's best to use either all of your horses to sell oil, or none at all. 4). You can never have too many wagons. No matter how much of the season is left. 5). Upgrading your pipes _will not_ relieve the pressure of your rigs spillage. If you upgrade your pipes, you will draw more oil out of the ground making your spillage problem _even worse_. 6). When you have enough wagons taking from your rigs, then they will begin to take oil from your silos. 7). Once the season is over, you can't sell any oil that you have not sold to Left or Right Inc.. 8). You can not sell any pipes, silos, rigs, or wagons that you are not using. 9). If you plan on upgrading your pipes, build shorter, individual pipes instead of one long pipe because it will take much longer for one long pipe to upgrade than it will many smaller ones.

Some* tips... 0. Don't stress about upfront costs. Some of the larger up front costs (scanner tool) will be more beneficial down the line. 1. Early game have enough horses to avoid any spillage. This is a big fine at the end! 2. Upgrade your horses as soon as possible. (capacity/speed). Upgrades are applied to all horses. 3. Don't upgrade the width of your pipes until you have enough horses/upgrades present. Upgrading the size means the drill will fill up quicker. 4. When one drill runs out, if you have too many branches, you can branch off the top of the existing drill to new areas. Avoid buying new drills if you don't have to. These take up space and increase the amount of drills your horses need to maintain. 5. When people are bidding, look at the history of how much oil was obtained in previous locations. People will bid more aggressively around areas with higher oil potential. 6. Plan where you put your drills. You need to leave enough space for silos. While you will have to pay a bit more upfront for longer pipelines, you can allow for more space to build silos. Silos need to have enough room 7. Upgrade your silos! Increases capacity/makes them taller so they don't take up additional space. 8. The horses are somewhat intelligent. You don't have to manually specify where to get oil from. If all drills are dry, they will go to the silos. 9. Save the diamonds you find. The price the banker will be willing to sell to you changes each turn. 10. Check the saloon for people you can bribe. (Ex. locking the price at oil company, less fees if you spill oil, better interest rates if you take a loan) 11. Avoid taking out large loans. The interest rates can be pretty steep. 12. You need to sell all the oil you obtain. The oil left over in drills/silos does not automatically sell. 13. You get cash bonuses if you sell all your oil, obtain all the oil, and if you sell/obtain all available oil you can end your turn early for an additional bonus. 14. You don't need to drill all the way down to an oil pocket. As long as your pipe touches the pocket it can obtain all the oil from the pocket. 15. When you upgrade your pipelines, the smaller pipelines will restrict oil flow if connected to a larger pipeline. The rate of flow can be limited by one section of pipe smaller than the entire line.
Oh wow, I still remember when I was a little kid on vacation at my grandparents’ lake house, binging the first three episodes of this in the middle of the night. Hard to believe it’s been six years. Thanks Jack. While I might not watch most of your videos nowadays, you’ve had a massive impact on my childhood (and I know you’ll be deeply uncomfortable knowing that lol) and my sense of humor into the modern day. I will forever cherish you and the effect you’ve had on me. Thank you.
Hi Jack, so firstly, you need to purchase more wagons. It might seem that you're spending too much money but you prevent spillages (and their fines), you can extract ALL the oil from the rigs and the silos, and you get the oil out of the ground MUCH faster. By upgrading the pipes you maximise their efficiency of extraction, meaning more oil gets removed at a faster rate: you need to balance that with more wagons. Starting to sound like Economics but go with it.... Secondly, I'd recommend selling over $0.80 at either or both R or L Inc.. That way, you sell all your oil close to their peak selling price, thus more dough! Thirdly, hire more dowsers. I've noticed that you're wasting a lot of potential oil that could have been used (to no fault of your own since you're just starting). Further, as soon as you start a new "parcel of land", the time starts independent of you actually starting. So, SPEED IS KEY! Hire those dowsers ASAP. Fourthly, I know it seems counter-intuitive, but you don't need to extend the pipes all the way to the bottom of the oil deposit - if the pipe just touches the outside, then it will extract all the oil regardless. This prevents you losing any more money than you should. Moreover, invest into the upgrades to improve efficiency in wagon and silo capacity (DON'T BE CHEAP!) Ultimately, the more dowsers you have and the earlier you place them, then the faster you can drill for oil. Then, after upgrading your pipes' widths, purchase more wagons and their upgrades to extract oil at the same rate at which it's being extracted, preventing horrible spillage fines. Selling off a bit at the start to buy a silo is advisable, storing as much oil as you can in them - don't worry, if you have enough wagons, then the stored oil will get siphoned off - the wagon A.I. is a bit rubbish. no he refused to buy because of he wanted to save as much money as he could and he had no idea that you can get a fine for that and its not only horse guys because the way the game works is it dosent really matter if you say have 1000 compared to 2000 it will be the same rate if you have 1 pump its just the way the game works
No, he made the pipes bigger AND didn't buy enough horse guys to keep up with production. If he had actually used his brain he wouldn't have had that problem, and would have made hella cash.
Actually (speaking as the son of a former BP worker) BP owned the rig, but the contractors that were working on the rig were not part of BP, and it was the contractors fault that the rig spilt.
tip : just sell the oil if you still on the early game, it almost imposibble to empty the pocket. Only buy silo if the price is too low (usually under 00.70)

+jacksepticeye Sorry if I'm late or you've already heard it but when bidding for land, you should probably not outbid people unless the profit of the plot next to it had a mad amount of oil in it. And you can tell how much profit the land is by the number on it during bidding.

Looked like you needed WAAY more horses. Pipes were leaking and you were waiting anxiously for horses to catch up. They're only $150, next time just buy as many as you can. Don't stop buying horses . And branch off your pipes, you dont need a new tower you can use the same tower to save money.
jack to sell oil out f your silos you need to have more wagons because they will always go to the rigs pumping out oil unless there isn't enough to fill there wagons then they will go to the silos

+seigeengine I always watch him at 100% volume with headphones on, I don't have ears so I just read the subtitles, cuz you know, I'm just a little eyeball
It's not that hes loud, if you play other things above him (like other youtubers) you will always hear him, not because hes loud, hes just smart. he took a sound and music class in college (old septic fans will know this) and he uses specific settings so he doesnt kill our ears and we can hear him.
I've been watching TH-cam gamers for years now. But after watching this video I actually bought Turmoil and played it on my own (never done that before). Then I watched Jack more and felt inspired to start my own TH-cam channel. So I just want to say thank you so much Sean (Jack) for being honest and being yourself. You've given me so much courage to just be myself and have fun, I've spent so long trying to be who others want me to be, and I'm determined to use TH-cam to help me actually be me. Again Thank you so much and keep being you! (I know you might not see this but I had to say thank you in some way and Turmoil really started it all for me.)

And don't widen pipes if you're not ready to suck it all out.

+jacksepticeye Sorry if I'm late or you've already heard it but when bidding for land, you should probably not outbid people unless the profit of the plot next to it had a mad amount of oil in it. And you can tell how much profit the land is by the number on it during bidding.

2-You dont need to make the pipe longer when they are in the oil deposit They will suck it up anyways

WHERE YOU NEED WAY MORE WAGGONS AND DRIVE MULTIPLE PIPES FROM ONE TOWER
Looked like you needed WAAY more horses. Pipes were leaking and you were waiting anxiously for horses to catch up. They're only $150, next time just buy as many as you can. Don't stop buying horses . And branch off your pipes, you dont need a new tower you can use the same tower to save money.
And don't be stingy; if you have a full silo with oil and a month left forget how low the price is, sell it all or it's a waste
+boness he cant figure out how to sell it.
If he keeps buying horses as advised here, they'll automatically sell the stuff in the silos once the fresh stuff is taken care of.
Well the real reason why they where spilling was because he upgraded the pipes which sucked up more oil than he could take with his wagons.
Also don't upgrade the pipes because they suck up to much and you can't handle it. When you learn and work it out more you can.
jack to sell oil out f your silos you need to have more wagons because they will always go to the rigs pumping out oil unless there isn't enough to fill there wagons then they will go to the silos
also if you upgrade pipes the oil comes out faster so only upgrade pipes when you have more than enough wagons

Don't upgrade the pipes until you have better carriages. The amount of carriages doesn't matter, what matters is their speed, so like you have been saying in every game "speed is key" Just not with pipes....

After watching him play Expert Mode, this cringe in this is killing me. I wanted to yell at my screen when he thought the pipes needed to go further into the oil deposit to get the oil out quicker. So inefficient.

I'm only able to hear Jack just enough at 1 volume on my computer. He's pretty damn loud man.
I usually have my speakers set so most content is enjoyable audible in the 15-25 area in the computer settings.

I can hear him at normal at full on an iPad...I think I have hearing issues...
It's not that hes loud, if you play other things above him (like other youtubers) you will always hear him, not because hes loud, hes just smart. he took a sound and music class in college (old septic fans will know this) and he uses specific settings so he doesnt kill our ears and we can hear him.
I've been watching TH-cam gamers for years now. But after watching this video I actually bought Turmoil and played it on my own (never done that before). Then I watched Jack more and felt inspired to start my own TH-cam channel.
So I just want to say thank you so much Sean (Jack) for being honest and being yourself. You've given me so much courage to just be myself and have fun, I've spent so long trying to be who others want me to be, and I'm determined to use TH-cam to help me actually be me.
