Ur definitely doing more than needed. Fashion/Design/Art isn't supposed to be an exact science. The sewing itself is obviously the area that takes the most concentration and learned skills, but when it comes to the patchwork, you really shouldn't be overthinking. Fashion design just like Art needs a bit of mystery. Something that resists us. Too much planning can only lead to disappointment and restricts fluidity and creativity. I've been designing clothes for almost a decade now, and it gets easier once you find your own original/unique style.
You are right. It takes a lil time for some to learn to trust their flow and not overthink tho but everybody have their own path, just take constant steps and dont compare.
Julius, you have to be in love with your wardrobe of jeans. You just lift me up every time I see one of your projects. My 3 year old granddaughter has the best wardrobe of jeans, thanks to you. I’m very much in love with the Japanese styles. It style of fashion has always been my way of dressing. Not knowing it was an Asian flare. I’m 64, and have dressed my daughter, son and older grandkids in this way. So, my latest granddaughter who’s 3 has no choice in the matter, but to join in. Just want to say, thanks, and that you just uplift my creativity in styling jeans.🔥🔥🔥
Love your work! Just a lil tip though. Stitch rip the outside hem that doesn't have the heavy work on it. Way easier to put back together with a clean look.
It is true you could have shorten some of your steps but oh what a beautiful piece of work you have created. The extra steps were certainly well worth it. I love the patterns, colors, and hand sewing. Hand sewing is not my thing at all but I may have to incorporate into my work. The jeans I am working on (my first pair ever) will end up a mixture of cut-out flowers from recycled clothing to make appliques, some small practice hand sewn pieces, a couple of pieces I printed onto fabric some I painted myself, and cotton lace pieces. I can't wait for the end product to be finished. Great work, love it.
I know I'm a year or so late on watching this video, you sound like me, talking about being impatient and resorting to hand stitching!! Well resorting to the hand stiching was a good thing you did a great job and so inspiring. Im definitely going to attempt a similar project, especially with the sashiko stitching. I love the patch work.❤❤
I know this is probably an obvious question but how do you re attach the legs after you rip them apart to distress the legs? I love your videos and would love to try and do some of my own jeans, I am just really new to sewing and don't wanna mess something up I can't sew back. love what you create! super inspiring!
What sewing machine do you recommend to use to start with patchwork? I am looking for a sewing machine to start patchwork, I’d like to repurpose jeans.
Julius...you are effing amazing...if you don't know...now you know. you keep inspiring me. i like Japanese aesthetics as well btw...this was just soooooooooooooooooooooo.............damn
I’ve been looking everywhere for the jeans! Except there all like 300-500$ and I don’t want to spend taht much money on a pair of jeans that I may only be bow to use for 2 years.
Why not make your own fabric out of scraps and cuts? Then cut your pants the way you want them from your own fabric. You can use denim in your patchwork.
Trust me people you'll be chased around high-school in 9 years mercilessly made fun of if you buy into this trend today. Like this style shit was salvation army Uber poverty ponytail with glasses hasn't gotten off the couch in 3 days stuff
