On my list of things I did not expect to see this episode... Bill 😅 Don't forget you can catch the WHOLE season early on Patreon in the unedited formats. You get to see every little snicker I make 😅 patreon.com/soeverdream Thanks for watching y'all :D
4:45 Well, actually... This IS a dream. Doesn't make it any less real though. Bill is a dream demon and can only perceived when people are asleep. If you think back to when Gideon first summoned him, after he left, everyone who saw him opened their eyes like they just woke up (because they did). Similarly, in this episode he has to wait for Dipper to nod off before he can talk to him (possession obviously excluded). In fact, there is a strong possibility the countdown on the laptop wasn't even real, just something Bill manipulated in Dipper's dream to pressure him into agreeing to the deal. If you look closely, you can see Dipper close his eyes for a moment longer than usual before the "too many failed entries" shows up. It also seems far too convenient to be coincidence, not to mention that if something has a limited amount of password tries, it usually activates way sooner. 14:50 You are absolutely right, that's NOT a reason to make such a deal. That's what's so great about this (or rather, it demonstrates how frighteningly good Bill is at what he does). I'm convinced that, under normal circumstances, Dipper would never have agreed. But, because of the time pressure and his current unhappiness with Mabel refusing to help, being reminded of all those times he had to do something for her (even if it wasn't even so bad in the end), was what pushed him over the edge to agree to Bill's deal. Bill knew exactly what he was doing. Finally, maybe that's just me, but a demon who can possess people and thinks pain is "hilarious" has some very worrying implications. Cipher for this episode: No puppet strings can hold me down, so patiently I watch this town, abnormal soon will be the norm, enjoy the calm before the storm.
It's implied that the whole "too many failed entries" thing was all part of a dream Dipper had. He nodded off a second before that alert came on, and Bill was conveniently there to offer a deal. And Bill can only interact with people in their dreams.
So glad you are having a blast watching this. Since you’ve come this far, you deserve a prize. Here, have a head that’s always screaming. Belonged to Marie Antoinette. I realized at this point in the show that Bill has limited screen time on the show the way the shark did in Jaws
I don't want the head, you may keep it 😂😂 Yeah, he's REALLY not shown a lot, and that's why I assumed it was JUST be his shadow to say hello, not his whole being
@@EversPrimeTime Journal 3 is a book that was released after the show finished, it is a must buy after you watch the show. It has detailed entries from all the pages you see on the show and more stuff from Dipper and other characters as the summer went on
Password wasn't part of the agreement. Bill said he will give a hint and after he destroyed the laptop the twins were able to find out the laptop is mcgucket's property.
0:00 - *"Of course, of course… **_”_* Welp. I know exactly which two seconds of the episode _that_ will be about. Creepy shadow, anyone? 😉 4:46 - *“This isn't a dream, right? Like, this is happening?”* Of course it's a dream. *And* it's really happening. In a dream. But for real. When you meet Bill Cipher in a dream, you meet him in real life… 5:11 - *“Oh, I can't tell if he's gonna actually be a good guy or not. I feel like, he can't be, right?”* While Bill Cipher was always meant to be an important character in the show, for a long time the writers were undecided whether he would turn out to be an actual villain, or just a "chaotic neutral" entity who might, at any given time, either help or hinder the protagonists, as the whim struck him. Even after his introduction in the season 1 finale, that option was still technically open. Sure, he worked against them then, but as he says here, that was just a job on Gideon's behalf, because he really wanted something that he could get from Gideon. So, at this point it still seemed at least _plausible_ that Bill might be a "trickster", rather than evil… right up until the moment Dipper takes his deal. At that point it's clear that the writers have made their choice, and one of the most awesome Bad Guys ever to be written was created.
The way I panicked because it was so unexpected 🤣 Ahh, I'm just so used to like dream sequences being more obvious. Like it was obvious in hindsight it was...but you never REALLY know with this show sometimes 😅 Yeah, I personally think RIGHT up until he basically went against the plan was when he was going to be bad. I had hoped he was going to turn out to be good. But...I'm glad he didn't
Your comment about musical episodes “giving you life” made me want to suggest the show “Galavant” to you. It’s a Medieval, musical, comedy show that ran for 2 seasons of 18 episodes. Half hour format, easy to binge. I think whether you react to it online or just watch it personally, you’d really enjoy it!
The devil works hard but Mabel-haters work harder whenever this episode comes up. Like, she's working on a genuinely impressive piece of art, and Dipper is working on a dusty computer. Both should be allowed to work on what they prioritize but many viewers see the mystery as some kind of full-time job, even when it doesn't affect the twins' lives at all at this point.
Bill is always fun. I do wonder a little bit why he got knocked out of Dipper so easily. Guess he did say it had been a while since he inhabited a body
When you mentioned how you like musicals I immediately thought of Steven Universe lol! I saw in a comment that you were considering giving it a chance so let me just tell you something : it starts off weak and kind of more kid-oriented but it gets SO GOOD, same with the songs, they start kind of so-so but get insanely good. If you decide to watch it, please keep that in mind! I swear it gets so much better
Season one is a bit like an United Kingdom canalboat chucking along at 4 miles an hour season 2 increases that by a factor of 100 and doesn’t stop. There may be a slower episode once in awhile, but the majority of season two is like a mile a minute. And we are liable to get whiplash it’s so fast

@EversPrimeTime I mean, fair, but if you want to introduce yourself, you don't just laugh maniacally and then forcefully rip out the teeth of an animal Also in Stan's mind, he shot a hole through Dipper's body and gave everyone nightmares when he was pissed that he failed to give Gideon the code to the safe for the Shack's contract.
The time where Mabel was about to give Bill the journal was the only time I agreed with Mabel haters. It’s almost completely out of character tbh. Sure Mabel’s selfish but is she “doom her brother to an eternity as a sock” selfish? I really don’t think so. So I blame the writing.
