Jamerson strikes again! Thats right! This is a James Jamerson influenced bass creation. (Well played by ABBA and the cover in this video!) Jamerson invented what is everyday common in bass playing today (or yesterday), And that is the “anchor on the one!” Meaning no matter how creative you play in between the measure you must return to the “anchor.” That’s what’s creates the groove or pocket. Even in a complicated busy bass line like “Daring Dear” he rarely deviates from that principle. It changed bass playing for ever and you really can’t undo it. What you decide the anchor should be is up to the artist. But the anchor is a must.
