In South Africa we grow Passion Fruit, but call them Grenadilla. They are ripe when purplish color and wrinkled. We mix them in with fruit salads - delicious!

The new trellises look great! Looking forward to seeing you work on the shade garden. Also the vines will be gorgeous in spring. I agree vines add so much texture and romance to the garden.

This fence isn’t very old so we aren’t ready for that, but maybe in a few years!

🌺Good morning, I absolutely love your channel, I have learned and gotten wonderful ideas from you. I’m much older than you, and have been more of a vege gardener most of my life and with flowers in pots around, but I moved to zone 8a a couple yrs ago to hot humid from cooler PNW, so this has been an exciting experience for this ol gal, thank you much!

Amanda is great. I’ve been a subscriber for 2-years - but I’m Zone 6b but it doesn’t matter she’s the kind of gardener that most of us are - you have to be brave enough to try and creative problem solver and baby sitter and nurse and...well you get the picture.

Had a passion flower vine for several years, then it died off. Love the flowers it produced and the gulf fritillary caterpillars loved the leaves. Win, win, for both me and all the butterflies I had then!

I had a gorgeous purple passion flower vine years ago and it would sucker from the roots and pop up all over the garden including the neighbors yard. They loved it though so no problem there. The suckers are easy to pull up and you can give baby passion flower plants to friends and family.

I have the honeysuckle on a metal gazebo and it's fantastic! Fills in fairly quickly and the flowers are beautiful!

Hi Amanda, I like your attitude about gardening whenever the mood or opportunity strikes regardless of time of year. Itś taken me quite a while to realize that being in a warmer climate the rules are different for me, Iḿ zone 9b. I also love the layered lush English garden look and the look of pots in flower beds. Your passion vine by the downspout looks really good as do the 3 new trellises, Iḿ looking forward to your upcoming projects and videos.

Morning! I have the passion flower vine in purple. I love it. I have noticed two things with this vine. First, it will spread, despite growing it in a large metal container. My neighbor mentioned that he has to pull the vines that pop up on his side of the fence. Secondly, caterpillars will attack the vine every year! It will look awful for a few weeks and then rebound.
I can't wait to see how the other vines grow!

Hmm, I wonder if it is too hot in that region for clematis?

I have just bought two honeysuckle plants for my new fence. So far, they are in planters and doing amazing. Even through the 100 degree weather we had in Concord, CA. I think I will buy a passion fruit vine and see how it goes. I am also installing an Altissimo Rose on an old play structure that came with our house and its pretty beefy wood. Wish me luck...

Honey suckle is invasive here in central Mo . Incredibly tough . Smells so sweet in bloom . I have a passion flower, I don’t know what kind , it has very sweet smelling flower but never gave fruit . I grow it in a pot then move it inside in the fall . Creeping fig is new to me .

Passion Flowers are beautiful. I had one a Few years ago. They are invasive and the butterflies devoured them. Which was okay with me. I think it was the Monarchs. I made the mistake of planting it in the ground. The roots get big.

❤ love the new vines I have a honeysuckle too did well first couple years not sure what's going on with it except it does get mites or something but it does bloom early and flowers are so pretty... I did over winter my trailing lantana last year and it was awesome this season!! Alot of in and out of the garage on cold and warm days lol! Love your channel so inspiring ❤

    • @shesamadgardener
      @shesamadgardener  ปีที่แล้ว +1

What did you do to overwinter the lantana? I buy this variety every year and would love to save the money!

I just dig it up cut it way back put in a small pot that I can bring in and out of my garage. I keep the garage lights on during the day on cold days but on warm days take it out in the sunshine and leave it if temps stay around 50 and just water when outside too

I had about 100 Abyssinian gladiolus bulbs this year. In 8 grow bags. They get planted in late May 6B plus you cannot leave them in the ground AND it was my first year trying them because I’m not a fan of traditional gladiolus. The smartest way is to do what you are doing with that Passion flower plant. If it seems stressed in one area shift it to the other side. You may end up not loving it at all especially if it’s higher maintenance than you hoped.

Had that same passion vine several years ago. I had to pull it up because it was taking over my entire bed. At the time I was still working and did not have the time to keep it properly trimmed. Love your idea of putting it in a pot. Have the perfect one and now want to try it again. Thanks for the inspiration ❤️
