Hi, the device has a backup battery inside, when the device is unpluged the owner is notified with a "device disconected" notification. The battey needs some time to get filled (~3h), so if you buy a new device plug it in and plug it out immediately the battery won't have enough power and won't be able to send the notification.
It says carlock but does it actually lock and or keep the car from starting as a starter interrupter does?

can't the thieves just unplug this from the OBD2 port and it won't send a notification to the owner?
