Even though our small family farm (about 800 acres) was sold off after a few bad years back in the 1990s, mom and dad always loved taking rides in the country until they died. Today being Mothers Day, I taped an old picture of mom to the dash of my old truck and took her for a couple hour ride, including past the old place. During that ride, we saw one of these big boys in a field. The farmer happened to be refueling the tractor at the time so, I stopped and got out for a closer look. 80' wide unfolded!!! It turned out that we actually knew each other and got reminiscing about our time as farm kids running 6 row planters back then. I hope you enjoyed the ride mom! I sure did!
Corn varieties are versatile. Excepting silage only type, or specialty types (ie: white corn or seed production) most are interchangeable. Ethanol, livestock feed, and milling (corn flakes, tortilla, etc) is basically the same. Hope I helped 👍🌾🤠
I remember when a 6 row was a big planter! My work has a 12 row/30", but wants to upgrade from a 15' drill to a 12/23 row planter for beans. I'm paid by the hour, so I'm not sure if I will like that.😂😂😂
We ran an 8 row up to this year as we’ve upgraded to a 16 row 3 pt mounted one as the farmer we bought it from retired and we’d been talking about going bigger.
Deere/Bauer make a 48X30 in planter, 120 ft. We use a JD 16/31 planter pulled with a JD 8345R with duals all around/ 16 30 in for corn, 31 15 in for beans. I have toured the DB factory twice on antique tractor rides.
Any idea how much the hi-speed option adds to the cost of this planter? Plodding along at 5 MPH vs 9 to 10 would make a big difference in number of acres covered in a day.
That will put a lot of seed into the ground!! 80 feet is really wide, but it will still take him 5 plus days to plant that 1500 acre field. That's pretty intimidating.
I remember that planter, except we used a JD A to pull it. Was a big change when the 7000 Conservation 4 row was bought. Had to use a JD 2030 for it, simpler hookup for the Monitor.👍🌾🤠

Hard to believe that it does such a good job in all that trash. Definitely a large unit.
It does a great job in no till.
@@bigtractorpowerthat's definitely treasure not trash as time and timing is everything as being part of the Planter Class absolutely
That's an impressive operation
They also run several 1795 planters.
That's a sweet tractor & planter. Nothing runs like a Deere. If it ain't green... It ain't mean!!!
👍👍
I can't imagine the ground you can cover in a day with this setup... Thx Jason!
That's one big boy! I do like the new look of the JD planters. Big acres are covered with that team!😊👌🏻
Are you also working on a farm?
Amazing planting setup😁👍
Thanks for the video👍👍
LOL, remember the old days of 2,4,6 row planters .
Yep! Wasn't that long ago, either 👍
Thanks for sharing!!
Got to be nice being able to plant 32 rows at a time, sure makes planting go alot faster for sure
It really knocks out the acres.
@@bigtractorpower oh yea cuz i would assume that anything bigger than 16 row planter that they are less common
Nice video 👍
Excellent video 👍👍👍
Wow what a set-up...
Che spettacolo, bella macchina.
JD 🚜👍👍
I love combine harveste winter wheat Harvest
Awesome Video Buddy!
Impressive 4 sure! Wondered what type of corn..feed, or like cereal…Forgive my naivety. Appreciate all y’all farmers. BeSafe, Blessings….

Great video! Does the planter rows line up with subsoil tilling? I know you've said they subsoil for the corn roots.
Keep it up!
Wow very nice
That’s a nice outfit right their
Thank you for watching.
Yep
I can only imagine how it was when they could only plant 10 rows at a time 😮
In 1982 we went from a 2 row to a 1240 John Deere 4 row!
I remember when a 6 row was a big planter! My work has a 12 row/30", but wants to upgrade from a 15' drill to a 12/23 row planter for beans. I'm paid by the hour, so I'm not sure if I will like that.😂😂😂
I was watching and thinking of the early 50s with a JD M and 2 row planter and neighbors with 8Ns and Hs.

Hola amigo saludos desde el bajío Méxicano .eres una inciclopedia de la maquinaria agrícola.....
20 more rows than I'm used to, would love to run it.

Good thing Bauer designed that for Them...
How does that work on point rows or overlap on the ends? Seed shutoff or row lift to reduce disruption of the planted seed?
GPS likely shuts off row units as they cross the planted headlands. Single row is an option, but 2,4,6, or 8 can be cheaper.
Now that can cover ground
It definitely eats of the acres.
@@bigtractorpower that’s for sure, some day you’ll have to see if you can find someone running a DB120,
That is some size of a planting outfit but if you have a 1500 acre field you would really need something like that!
Hard to imagine a 1,500 acre field. Fields are in quarter sections where I live, which equal 160 acres.
What’s the extra wheel under the liquid tank for?

What happens to all that growth in the field he is planting,do they spray that out before the corn comes up ?
The volunteer wheat and grass has already been sprayed with a herbicide ahead of planting. It will die quickly and the field will be weed free.
Howdy bigtractorpower
Hi.

I bet he finished that field in 2 or 2.5 days.
1500 acre field is crazy
👍👍
Thank you for watching.
what is the situation with the price of wheat and corn in america? we in europe have a big drop in prices due to cheap wheat from ukraine
That is big planter. We use 494 John deere 4 row at 36 in rows. Pull with JD 60
I remember that planter, except we used a JD A to pull it. Was a big change when the 7000 Conservation 4 row was bought. Had to use a JD 2030 for it, simpler hookup for the Monitor.👍🌾🤠
first time i ever saw planting in fields that were not disced or harrowed prior to seeding...?
It's called no till planting
Does JD still make the DB90 as well?
They do. I filmed a DB90 this spring as well. I noticed the DB120 is not listed any more.
@@bigtractorpower Wow, kinda surprised about the 120.
How many acres can it plant before refilling and what’s the planting population?
8:40
10:35
Kind of looks like the closing wheels are having issues.
That or the gauge wheels are just pushing a lot of stuff down I guess.
Likely only 3 days, unless they run more than half (12hr) days.
no till is the only way
How much this machine cost ?
I mention that at the end of the specs in the video. $415K.
Hello! "Toy" planter cutting through the trash!
Big Toy 👍👍
@@bigtractorpower 👌
It's a tool, not a toy. I use the same terms to justify buying anything big when my wife asks..😯😂😂
@@morganottlii2390 👌
They really should work and turn the ground before!
@@ROCK-s1t
And that's why you won't ever have 1500 fields. Technology keeps advancing.

Not every one is up for being on camera. I appreciated getting info on the machinery first hand from the operator.
that is why in CANADA we have your american fleabane we are getting sick of that. no skill farming
