This is the first Danhausen match I've ever watched, and I have to say that both of these guys did a fantastic job of filling the silence from the lack of live fans and using it to get their characters across. It's just the right mix of schtick and action. Looking forward to seeing Danhausen in AEW and perusing the back catalog of these fellas.
He is partly inspired by the main character of Peewee's big adventure. And if you saw that movie you know the guy just never shut up... But at least Danhausen's funny. I can't watch the movie that's how much this character is annoying.
I am 37 and very little things get me excited about wrestling anymore. But Danhausen is such a breath of fresh air, a blast from the past. He is like the modern version of an 80s over the top Vince gimmick, but done right, with out cheese and with someone who can actually wrestle. It's the perfect storm man. Danhausen is so much fun to watch.
I feel the same way. I've been starting to become a fan ov his. During Halloween when I took my daughter trick or treating I was talking in the Danhausen voice the whole time, never had so much fun.
I am also stuck in the late 70s and 80s. I had been reading Dan’s name all over forums and thought it was just some new age kid doing his thing. A few weeks ago, I saw video short of Dan and was sold. He is creative and really fun. Really good athlete as well.
He can't wrestle, you like it because you are the typical jaded old wrestling fan who only wants memes about wrestling. I guess screw good workers just shock value stunts and memes only. If WWE created him you and all the rest of the jaded 30-40 year old WWE fans would hate him and call it dumb. He's all gimmick and memes because his wrestling skills are about the level I can see at my local indies that has guys straight out of wrestling school.
I loved how Danhausen called the two count after being pinned, agreeing with the ref, like yeah, I think that was only a two, really pissing off that John Stone fellow...very nice, very evil.
I didn't have a clue who danhausen was a week ago and now I'm binge watching his matches and promos HES HILARIOUS I love it... give this man a AEW Contract

Never ever heard of this guy so I searched him up and found a ROH Empty Arena Match against a guy called Brian Johnson. Midway through the match, Johnson goes for the leg drop on the apron and Danhausen sticks his head up between the ring apron, looks at him and shrieks before ducking out for Johnson to sell the miss. That spot FUCKING DESTROYED ME and had me on the floor for 20 minutes unable to breathe. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I am absolutely memorised and he's my new favourite thing in wrestling.
I've heard Danhausen on a few podcasts, however, this is my first time seeing him wrestle. His work and personality are very very good, very evil. I like it!
It was a really good match. The basics were right. No useless flips. Heel was using heel tactics, face was fighting from underneath and just when you thought the face had it covered, the heel stole the victory using ropes and distracting the referee. A good classic wrestling match, just the way I like it.
"no useless flips" Times change, man. Storytelling and wrestling both change as time goes on. Yes, there are still old school styles and matches, but the newer styles are just as valid. Open your mind, rather than keeping it closed.
This is like a mixture of a comedy match and an old school match. Danhausen is a genius, and I don't think I have seen a heel grab the ropes on an abdominal stretch in about 20 years. Cheating is a lost art in modern wrestling. Johnson is a throwback heel though. He is really old school. Surprisingly enough, their styles mesh really well together. I guess it shouldn't be a surprise though. Danhausen is really an old school wrestler himself, just cleverly and expertly disguised as a comedy wrestler. Very nice, very evil. lol
i'm just getting back into wrestling and i'm seeing all these wrestlers with crazy gimmicks eg wyatt, cassidy and danhausen and you might think they would be too much for hardcore fans but it turns out they get huge pops and everyone is into it. fans want them to get over because they are good wrestlers who respect the art and want to do something different and creative. it's not just "hey look, i'm a clown/robot/monster". wrestling is incorporated into the act and the crowd participates (like cassidy's no selling 😄) this is a path forged by grand master sexay and gold dust and their fathers before them!
I worked with Danhausen before he was a wrestler. He really is a smart guy. One of the nicest people you will ever meet too. I'm glad things are working out for him, he deserves it.
Danhausen is awesome 👍 mecca did a great job ,made it competitive, but mark my words, danhausen will be the next orange cassidy, and be a darling on the indies.
@@Necropantz I actually think Jim would like his work it is not the kind of goofy shit that he hates it suits the gimmick beautifully and he really does look like he is crazy
an inevitable Danhausen vs Orange Cassidy match in AEW is going to be gold, the guy that barely talks vs the guy that never shuts up, both still smooth wrestlers, I hope they just keep a mic on Danhausen through his matches lol.
First Danhausen match I've seen. Don't have cable for AEW. He's a good wrestler and I like his whole character very creative how he talks in weird parables almost and he's hilarious.
At first I thought he was just going to be some non in ring youtube commentator, but I'm going to be able to get behind Danhausen fast. He is that pretty rare character who can act during his matches and get himself across as the person at all times, not just during interviews and filmed segments. We've seen a million performers who are just "me but dialed up to 11". This is a persona who people can remember. This is the character we can easily get catch phrases, merchandise, and real draws out of. No one cares what token muscular guy with a normal name #23 is doing in the mid card any given night. We want to know what interesting way the creepy alien clown is going to make us laugh while still putting on a solid athletic performance that convinces us he is a credible threat to his opponents.
Took one match for me to become a Fanhausen. Saying yes after every successful move, the tequila kicks, it's insanity but it's him doing both parts of the job. He could honestly be a mega star in WWE but only if he could keep his character control. He's an acceptable wrestler for children and adults because he's so old school but so adorably fun and childish
If he started in WWE you'd hate him lol. The only reason he's popular is because he's not in WWE and people are fine with memes about wrestling so long as WWE isn't doing it because then it's suddenly stupid.
@@MxMoondoggie false my man, I love the shitty gimmicks of the 90s. I don't like the shitty new age version of that. He does it right exactly how a good 90s gimmick would be. He's mid card fodder that's gonna get a massive pop Everytime because he tries to be goofy and not legitimate

This is the difference between a gimmick and a meta-joke. DanHausen is a hilarious and genius gimmick. Orange Cassidy is a witty meta joke. Nothing wrong with either, but OC is just a singular punchline that wears out on repetition. DanHausen can take this and work anywhere and this gimmick can run for a LONG time.
Yeah OC grew on me initially but his shtick really gets old and boring fast. Danhausen is a lot more entertaining for a variety of reasons, but mostly he isn't one dimensional, and he's great on the mic whereas OC simply doesn't talk.
There's a lot more to do with the Orange Cassidy gimmick, but he needs to be careful with it. It's easy to run it into the ground, but you don't want to blow through all your possibilities in a year either. Danhausen is a more varied and flexible gimmick right off the bat, but at this point he has a long way to go in terms of in-ring work. He's not very smooth (yet, that will certainly improve over time) but more importantly his gimmick doesn't inform his wrestling style as completely as OC's does.
I'm here from Jim Cornette's podcast, Brian Last recommend this saying that Corny would hate this but I think he would find it quite funny as it is not just silly for silly sake it totally fits his gimmick
@@burntvirtue yes I agree with that but I think the gimmick he has is difficult to work with he always looks intentionally awkward but that can make the opponent look bad too, he can work though I've seen some Donavan Danhausen matches and he is not bad
