"Placeholders claimin' to be rulers" was a direct jab at Joey
also the yard bar and i think that fly ish is for cj fly
Out of all the tracks that have came out after that initial Joey track this is the best one by far to me. Mick is criminally slept on I'd really like to see him and Kendrick on a track or even Ab Soul.
By far!
Either one of those would be HEFTY.
Would love to hear Mick Jenkins x Schoolboy Q. They have similar energy, unorthodox delivery and gravely voice
Yall be the first guy to say these things and I'm on that 🙏🏼
A "Bar Rescue" masterclass.
I feel educated hearing you guys breakdown to the Inception level of these bars.
Mick a Chicago legend at this point. My favorite MC to ever come out of the Chi
Whenever people say Kendrick can't bar niggas down I laugh. He chose not to, he was bar heavy in the early years of his career. Before, GKMC. Kendrick is basically a swiss army knife. He can do everything.
definitely not that bar heavy, always more about imagery and less is more type of lyricism, which is not bad, just how he rapped in c4 & even the mixtape days w jayrock lol
Nah I hear y'all with the Kendrick and Mick joint. Mick's strongest skill is the depth of his pen. Each bar is a bar on a scheme that's also a bar. Triple's and quadruples everywhere all day long. And it almost always means something that's truly thought provoking. That's the old school rap mentality. So, bar-for-bar I'd give it to Mick all day. His music isn't for everyone though so popularity, story-telling, and most of the rest is gonna go to K-Dot fs. Not saying he don't be dropping bars like crazy too! But no one is writing like Mick. He's got the craziest pen ever. EVER. I dare say.
He said it a decade ago though. "No one can come for me except Kendrick." lol
I'd still say Billy Woods does, he's bar heavy and poetic, I would say he is a lot more complex if you like complexity. But no one can even understand one of their albums on even the first few listens
@@mocapcow2933 I've never even heard of this dude. lemme check him out.
@@mocapcow2933 oh mah gowsh. Just listened to some quick snippets. It's different for sure! I'll give you that. With his vibe, a track with Mick would be phenomenal.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Mick Jenkins is fire, I think some other guys that are still under the radar with bars and all are Nick Grant, A Noyd, Handlez Mcgee, all of Coast Contra... I want more from these guys.. Those are who I'm hangin' on drops from... 😅 Oh and CYHI needs to get back out there too!! Would love to see some reactions from you guys on them!!
I can’t believe yall missed the clear Joey shot The Cole shot and the Drake shot lol
We weren't listening for shots
@ From the video it seemed like yall were But ight
Yall missed the Joey diss when he said "Placeholders claimin ruler" and a Cole jab and Drake jab in there yall missed too
i love the imagery rappers, Billy Woods, Kendrick, but if you want to be bar heavy, i like it when they go heavy on bars. I want someone confident in knowing what they are
he said that something else that was tied to joey, when he said something the ruler being back.
I'm from the era of lyrics and substance. I'm confused why this isn't the representation of Chicago, and they have the mumble rap of killings and drugs at the forefront.
Even with Kanye & Common great ambassadors but not the sound of everyday Chicago (at the time).
Oh yeah if y’all haven’t seen Coast Contra yet, prepare for the rabbit hole coz you’ve neeeever seen anything like them. Whew! They’re from the west coast as well
Matthew 24:6
You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
🙏 Mick Jenkins at God Speed
Can you all please peep Coast Contra. They just did spoken word freestyle. You guys would appreciate their art.
Joey and cole diss
For GenX, this is our type of ish!!
They missed the most clear Joey bar lmao
you can either be a dork or point it out lmao
Chicago has 3 of the top 5 rappers. 4 if you want to put Dot in Chicago since he was born there.
Going at joey painfully few slaps at jcole
Him an ab soul 🔥🔥🔥
But that jenkins is better with bars than kendrick (I'm with that and believe that too)
Mick better than Dot? Ya’ll tweekin 😂 He great, but not Dot great
Y’all totally missed the placeholder bar. SMH
