The Machane Yehuda market, also called the shuk, is one of the most beautiful markets and familiar icons in Israel. The market it located in Jerusalem
This is what I miss so much from Yerushalayim. Changed a bit over the years, but the same basic character. The falafel is excellent and great for people watching. Not too many tourists. They tend to be down by Ben Yehuda (Midrachov). They are good there for pizza after Shabbat.

I love this market, I used to visit this market the first evening (Sunday) with small groups from Sweden. It was to come in and land in the atmosphere of the people of Jerusalem. At least to feel as a Jerusalemite.

I always go out and buy groceries, fish, pork, vegetables in a market. I would like to experience doing same thing in another country, like Israel. I know each city or country offer unique options and specialty, like those bread and sweets, wow.

What a wonderful "BALAGAN"! I always loved going to Mahane Yehuda...but it looks 10 times more interesting! Burekas, Halvah, Challot...I could almost smell the scent of spices! I really wanted to be there...thanks for this experience!
