    The Danes modernised theirs in the 80's to the M41 DK1 which can pass for a modern tank in looks

    Apparently there are M41s still in service in Thailand where they were used to enforce Martial Law earlier this year.

    I bought the Tamiya tank model to put together. Hobby Lobby sells them.

    Any chance we'll get an IS-3 Inside the Hatch?

    In World of Tanks the M41 is a self-propelled gun. This is confusing. Can anybody please clarify on why two vehicles share the same number?

    Hey Chief , any chance we'll ever see you do one of these on the StridsVagen 103 ?

    What is the "Friendly Fire Nations" thing he mentioned at the end? Also, why was the upgrade from 75mm to 76mm so substantial when it is such a slight different in the size of the gun? Finally, what is a fume extractor in the gun? I did a little bit of google searching but couldn't find answers to any of my questions.

      Friendly foreign nations. The velocity of the 76mm round was substantially higher. Fume extractor is also known as a bore evacuator, it's the bulge near the end of the barrel.

      76 is kinda the equivalent of a magnum round compared to a normal round.
      Barely larger, but longer cartridge.

      When a gun fires, it kicks up smoke. For example, a 9mm shell is fairly small, and thus doesn't create much smoke. A tank round is substantially bigger, the projectile is larger and heavier, therefore requiring more propellant. This creates toxic gases. It isn't much of a problem on a handheld firearm because the propellant is in a smaller amount. However a tank round (120mm of an Abrams or Leopard 2 for example) can be up to 2 feet long and has A LOT of propellNt. So the bore evacuator's job is to suck up most of the toxic gasses so they don't come back into the turret making the crew pass out
      tl;dr it reduces toxic gas produced by propellant burning up.

    It did well in Vietnam until the south Vietnamese ran out of ammo and fuel for there M41 fleet. This tank should be in WOT. They should do it as premiem. Though there is a Taiwanese TD version.

    I do like that that tank very much as I know from lucky owners! But I still do not really understand the importance of producing those "light tanks" as well as the walker bulldogs as painfully demonstrated during the Korean War as they were simply brushed aside by the T34! Of course they were relatively cheap but perhaps they were quite aptly called "voting machines" by the South Vietnam people!

    • @Brown195
      @Brown195 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Light tanks are supposed to be light and fast enough to provide a scouting role, which allows them to gather intel on enemy positions and report them back to HQ. They have to sacrifice armour to be fast, but also still retain enough to protect vs small arms fire (AKs, machineguns etc). Light tanks, such as the M41 were never supposed to fight other tanks, but had the capability to if needed.

    • @paoloviti6156
      @paoloviti6156 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      fooeytheduck I agree fully on what you stated! No arguments on the uses and purposes of those vehicles! What I'm pointing out is that one of the purpose of scouting the whereabouts of the enemy is to be discreet, having good equipment for communication, being fast and to be able to fight out of trouble! If you look at ww2 battles you will see that all the armies was using a wild variety of vehicles from the almost useless Germans side cars up to the m-41 but few were really suitable for that task! In my modest opinion the best vehicles were the ubiquitous jeep Willy, the German Kubelwagen and perhaps best of all was the Swimmwagen because it could cross rivers! They all share a good off road capability, cheap to produce, easy to maintain, relatively quiet and above all they were a small target! In this category the m-41 is really more suitable for heavy armoured breakthrough or troops support but fact is that they were too big, under armoured and under gunned when things went really tough for the intended role! A fact under scored during the battle of the Ardennes but very under scored in Korea! That is why m-41 and the walker Bulldog were phased out quickly from the us army! They were simply too expensive!

      airborn armor support and reconnaissance in front of infantry...it wasn’t made to fight tanks, just give some firepower and safety to crews

      @@paoloviti6156 it was only discarded when the M551 came into service and did the same thing....you never saw them in battles if hollywood is to be believed(which you shouldn’t), i can guarantee that not only were they used but played key roles in several battles by doing their jobs exactly as designed

      @@bostonrailfan2427 thanks for telling me as I have little knowledge of the M551 that replaced those previous tanks and it is good to know that they are doing key roles as designed 👍👍

    Again, why isn't this vehicle in the game ? c'mon! Why not make this a tank you can reach from the chaffe ? that would make the chaffe a more popular vehicle !

    • @GhostOps21
      @GhostOps21 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Watch the M24 Chaffee video, he covers the pronunciation. He's met people with the name of Chaffee and its pronounced both ways. Chah-fee and Chai-fee. So unless you have a time machine and can talk to Adna Chaffee, safe to assume either is correct.
