I had a terrible shear today but Lizzy was amazing as always!
We have another big summer of sheep shearing ahead.
Lots of farms to visit and lots of different breeds to shear.
Also we have a lot of competitions to attend!

ABOUT ME
I’m 32 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 850 breeding ewes.
I shore over 19,000 sheep this season in the UK and have my own shearing run which lets you see many different farms in the summer months.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on TH-cam and decided I could have a go and now here we are!

Mistakes happen, they are human after all. And although it wasn't first I think Lizzy is Amazing. I am always impressed with her doing ALL the jobs. Hi Cammy, brilliant video!! Well done Lizzie. I was in agri college with Richard Jones many years ago and he was a machine back then. He helped me shear my first and last sheep 😂 I stuck to my cows after that

The sheep in the field across the road were sheared three days ago. This is the first year since we have lived here that we haven't had mothers and their lambs in that field so the dynamic with these year-old sheep this year has been significant;y different.
In the afternoon, the field went quiet: they had all been taken away somewhere to be sheared. Then they were put back, sans wool - and, by God, did they whinge and complain and bicker and screech and moan and mutter and carry on! It took them well into the night to settle down again. I have no idea why they were so upset: the hot weather of the last few weeks (which seems to have disappeared now) must have made life extremely uncomfortable for them in their woolly state.
There's no pleasing some sheep!

Lizzy's so humble, I'd like to see any of those men who beat her birth 2 children and care for them daily and keep in such excellent shape and maintain their abilities. People have no idea the strength and stamina required for shearing and then the talent to increase your speed. Bravo to Lizzy an inspiration to women shepherds everywhere!!!
