I get angry, and the angrier I get, the more I refuse to close the game. Can't make progress if I don't grind.

I get this way a lot of the time too. For me it's because I get burnt out on things really quickly. If I play more than maybe 10 or so matches I either get fed up or bored, so I have to do stuff that makes the game feel like every match is different. Like running a meme build, or doing something whacky, giving myself a self imposed challenge like not using bottles on clown and being a purely M1 killer, or not kicking pallets, or only trying to chase backwards, etc. It may be in-efficient and stupid, but at least it makes the game feel varied in a way. Not saying dbd doesn't have variation, but the matches can feel pretty similar most of the time.

True I do those things as well. I would also do randomized addons/builds before chaos shuffle.
I honestly think the devs didn’t expect people to play for thousands of hours due to the repetitive nature of the game, they probably assumed ppl would play a few hours a week with their friends lol. The burnout is def cuz it’s a very repetitive game and it can feel empty/meaningless to play a lot of times.

As a creator who spends WAY more time with the game than I do, I can easily see how you’d feel this way. Luckily, BHVR seems to have listened to the requests to vary up DBD content with the upcoming introduction of 2v8, and the two separate games set in the DBD universe.
But regardless, I agree that it would be great to vary up content if it helps you not feel trapped in DBD. As much as this is your job, happiness is also super important, so I’d be more than willing to watch videos on other games or topics if you want to make them!

I think this problem could be easily fixed by adding different objectives for the survivors. If survivors had a pool of different objectives to achieve to escape the trial.
So right now we have the gen objective that powers exit gates. Add a few more and then have the game randomly pick what objectives they are doing.
The survivors get a message saying what the objective is. Or some other type of indicator. The killer will know because of their aura reading on the objective that it is might be a different objective.
It changes the game up a bit, changing the strategies given the different objectives. Killers get to do something different from patrolling gens. And survivors, if Behavior is willing to break out of the mold, get a break from boring skill checks.
Like maybe one could be a component scavenger hunt to repair the gates. Survivors find the parts scattered around the map. Then have to take the parts to different power houses. Once ALL power houses are fixed the gates open (don't need the charge up).
Or an outlast the killer, objective. This one is trickier because it I can see toxic play taking hold of this but if you don't know what objective you will have it is hard to prep for it. The idea being that the survivors have to survivor for a set time the gates then open or become charged and the survivors can escape.
Oh and completely separate from the above. I would love to see what would happen to game play if survivors were first person as well. I feel like it would up the tension in a good way. Make the game scarier.

Remember to always take care of yourself, taking breaks having a day or 2 heck maybe even 3 on stream where you play an entirely different game.
Burnout is definitely a thing and giving yourself time to unwind and enjoy a new game that isn’t as stressful, especially with how stressful dbd CAN BE could help so much.
Or hey do half dbd half variety, seeing your starting soon screen you always looked like you were having a blast playing other games!
Again do what’s best for you and if you wish to keep main lining dbd maybe consider shorter streams or shorter dbd segments :3
I think variety would do wonders for revitalizing your passion not only for dbd but content creation as a whole.
I use to stream smash bros for a year and I borderline hate it now even though it was my “best” category I ended up feeling hollow and that’s why I’ve been on hiatus with severe burn out to the point that I STILL struggle with hitting to go live button 4 years later.
Regardless I wish you luck in whatever endeavors you pursue! -Ashe

Good stuff for being honest about your situation and how you feeling. 👌 I have adhd too and over the years I would get fixated on a game and no life it until I jumped on the next game. Now that I'm in my 30s I realized that I tend to come back to the same games like DBD. I then put those on my roster and rotate them in and out of my gaming time and it keeps things feeling fresh for me. Keep up the good work. Love the content

Map offerings should 100% become map bans AND the map repeat prevention system should become a REALM prevention system. And we need to remove these pointless variants from the few realms with like 5 variants.
Like literally swamp and badham do not need 5 variants.
They and farm and autohaven only need 2 variants each
Dbd has been stale for awhile because we're always on the same maps, same killers, same perks etc over and over bhvr needs to make some major changes to the small stuff that adds up that is hurting the game.
I will always love this game
But its so bad right now I and many others need a break.

  • @Klenner115

Yeah, the moment you HAVE to play because it stops being "just for fun" can really burn you down.
Im a killer main and have a lot of fun on the role but I have to take small breaks between matches (either on my phone, play survivor, spend bp, etc) because its stressful and losing really gets to me (nothing extreme but I do get very angry lol).
Hopefully getting burnt or checking out doesnt snowball to hating the game, good luck!

I get bored after 3-4 matches of killer. I only really play Ghostface, he’s been my main since day 1, practically. I’d like to branch out to other killers, but somehow I don’t even think that will help. Killer powers don’t really change the game that much, if you think about it. The objective for both sides is always the same, no matter what killer you pick. It feels like insanity, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. I love the game, really I do, I just wish anything changed. DbD, gameplay wise for the most part, has been the exact same since I started when Wesker/Nemi (I honestly forget.) first came out.

I don't play DBD as much as I used to I started playing DBD when Nemesis was released. I find the game gets boring, frustrating, angry. I would like to play new game modes like no perks mode or maybe having twisted masquerade mode. Maybe you can do content on something else

This is a sign that BHVR needs to do something different with DBD because we’ve just been doing gens since 2016 they need to add something different beside just doing gens all the time and hooking survivors the game is far too repetitive and very annoying especially when playing killer

In a past stream you mentioned not buying baldurs gate because of the price. Something along the lines of "its not that i cant afford it i just dont think no game is worth 60+ bucks" but if it could change your mind i would LOVE to see a playthrough or even several playthrough of baldurs gate. Youve expressed your passion for dnd and i think getting to watch you create your character and carve your story would be fantastic. Aswell as seeing your passion through sharing all the dnd lore and knowledge you know of. I know you dont wana spend the 60+ out of premise but seeing your passion for dnd with the vecna chapter was nice to see and i think a baldurs gate series would be amazing for you not just for the views/money but also personally for your mental health to get to share and geek out over your knowledge and love for the world of dnd.

For me, what sold DBD to me was its variation and diversity in Content. So many killers and so many survivors back in 2021 alredy, and it has become MUCH more since. Many maps and all that, diffrent playstyles. That was the thing for me that never made it boring. And i enjoyed hunting tome challenges while i still had them locked on my old account.
But as for everyone, there comes a point where my mmr was high enough so i would be in the same Meta-perk, meta-killer, meta-playstyles mmr bracket as majority of people. I even am probably above average and i do actually fall totally under the 60% killrate 40% escape rate that BHVR wants to have, these are the litteral numbers from my own games. On average i make 2 sacrifices with every killer every round, no matter what. And as survivor i escape now and then, fairly often for the fact that there is 4 of us and not anyone is gonna survive. I COULD be pleased, right? Like that was all i wanted when i had to learn to adapt to the better players than me, fair, equal games.
But they dont have alot of variation, so i made a second account and i cant tell yall how much joy it brings to me, facing killers as a survivor i almost never saw. Yes you can say smurf account, and i agree to an extent. But im not playing on that acc to stomp people, i will deliberatly make sure my escapes and 3+ sacrifices are way lower than "losses" where i either get no sacrifices or get sacrificed myself. Its just that im bored, im bored seeing the same shit everytime. And new players play in various diffrent ways, sure majority of the time they do mistakes, which is why i try to hold back when playing against them.. But its so refreshing just seeing so much diversity in characters and playstyles again. Only thing i wish would be selfcare reworked, because its such a trap for newer players, even more so than when i was new myself, at least back then selfcare wasnt slow af.
So yeah, if you feel bored but still kinda want to play DBD, try a new account. Its also kinda bhvrs fault with their sticking to the MMR system, which is the reason why everything becomes so redundant because you always see the people in your bracket.
Edit: The feeling of being "trapped" is the reason why im starting my youtube channel much more open, i do "gaming" in general which sure has been done alot and is a harder market than finding a niche but i avoid my passion becoming an erand that way. ofc i understand your situation kaiser and i hope you find ways to loosen it up a bit. Im sure there are many people watching you because of you and not dead by daylight, these people would remain even if you switch completely to something else.

@@hydogens2333 Killers I'm not so sure about because you have to pay for the DLC and it'd be a bummer if you just can't play them when you want. Maps or perks I don't think is as much of an issue, though. They already change pretty frequently from patch to patch.

I think the best way to think about it is like your favorite flavor of chips. When you have it a ton it starts to become a bit boring, even if you try different flavors of that brand (playing DBD with new killer/ideas) it still will become a bit boring when constantly doing it. It’s tough when your income is tied to niche communities since branching out becomes quite tough. It’s such a unique problem tied to content creators since their jobs are heavily linked with their motivation.

Appreciate the honesty, and you hit the nail on the head when talking about how it’s not meant to be played for several hours a day. It makes sense in a way because your dopamine system is probably completely depleted.
If have a full day off work and I decide to start playing dbd in the day, I end up playing all day all the way through to the night and I pretty much always feel rough afterwards. So having it as your job I can absolutely understand why you would feel like this.

Wow 4 people running adrenaline, windows, dead hard, and distortion...Not like I've seen this before. In all seriousness I was bhvr would just rework some trash perks and make them viable. I can give killers an excuse for not being boring since they aren't just skins like the survivor. Each are different in look and powers.

I play dbd while I’m working from home now, so it’s really just background noise in a way. I’ve played this game for so long over the past 4 years I’ve owned it, that i do believe it has become repetitive in a way, but I still enjoy it with friends. With myself, I get bored of it though even tho I do love it. I will say though that the my lil oni, chaos shuffle, all those events have made the game feel less repetitive thankfully. I think they should ALWAYS keep one of these modes going though, to avoid not letting the game feel repetitive. Drink everytime I said repetitive.

Everytime same games, autopilot on widnows of opportunity for survivor, killer hook and tunnel, eventually ping pong from one survivor to another. Is just so boring. I feel exhausted. had a break from dbd many times, and coming back from just zero fun

You’re not alone with that sentiment. I began playing in 2021, when Nemesis released. I like the RE games, so having the option to play as my favorite bio weapon was a no brainer.
And for a few years, I put an embarrassingly large amount of hours into the game. The thrill of hunting and being hunted was a much needed dopamine hit… until it wasn’t.
With every tome done. All rifts collected. All trophies completed…. I found myself staring at the menu and frowning because there really isn’t anything else to do. This is a very repetitive game. And yes, there are modes, but even then, that fails to immerse measurable it did 3 years ago. Today, I’ll log in, check the dailies, sigh because they are always the same, and close the application.
And I don’t even stream. I can’t imagine someone playing this all day every day for a living (actually, I can- a friend used to do that and, to nobody’s surprise, she got burned out.)
I would personally, enjoy watching you cover any other game, film, etc.

I totally feel this, when the chaos mode was out I was playing a lot more, every match felt like fresh air, every game wasn’t OTR, DH, or pain res pop, I think they need to either have that mode be perma or have a option to randomize loadout with or without a BP bonus for doing it. My point ultimately is the chaos mode was such a breath of fresh air and that’s all I played, and how much the community played it, I think 50+ million ques that speaks volumes

Thjis happens alot with people who make one game there content...I've seen it with league of legends and minecraft as two examples. If I can offer a suggestion, try making content that's dead by daylight or horror adjustment from time to time. Try talking about horror games or movies that are already in dbd. That sounds like a good place to start.

Something i di if the game feels repetitive is i usually swap to killer. I play survivor a ton and its easily the most repetitive thing ever especially becuz all i do is get chased and die. Yea i can get some fun plays or get unexpected stuff to happen, but at the end of the day, its still very repetitive. But for killer, its always fun becuz theres over 30 to choose from with different speeds, different play styles, and different powers which gives tons of variety

Sorry that the comment is long. I just need to get my point across
What you’re feeling is stagnation. As high-level players, we experience this because we’ve spent so many hours in the game. The new chapters in Dead by Daylight are like adding new coats of paint, but the core game hasn’t changed.
A game I often mention in these situations is Rainbow Six Siege. I’m very familiar with it, and they handle long-term player interest really well. They have seasons-about five a year-and in at least two of these, they make big changes to the game’s structure. This keeps things fresh for players like me who have thousands of hours invested. Not every season changes the core game, but enough do to keep us interested.
Dead by Daylight hasn’t done anything like this. New chapters and characters only keep us entertained for so long. We quickly learn how they fit into the game, and then we’re back to feeling bored. Behavior needs to promise a big change in one of their future chapters. They don’t even need to say which one, just let us know it’s coming. That would give us something to look forward to.
These new chapters work for newer players, but not for us veterans. We need a new structure because new characters alone aren’t cutting it anymore. For me, when the Lich came out, I figured him out in a couple of days and then got bored again. I used to be able to play for 6-7 hours straight without getting bored, but now I play for an hour or two and feel like, “Damn, I’m so bored.” I love the game, but it just feels the same

    • @LordBlue1314

And I can understand the feeling of being stuck in a different way, but that is a nature of content creation when you start your channel and you start growing based on a niche such as dead by daylight and you try to venture off, it can hurt you in severe ways I remember when you took a break and you started making different content. I enjoyed it, but I can understand if other audience members decided to leave because They wanted content from you and I can understand the feeling of being trapped in a different way. I’m in college right now and I used to work at McDonald’s. I absolutely hated it but it was my main source of income. That’s where I got my money for food books, etc. and if I quit, I would’ve fucked myself over severely so I just stood there feeling like shit, eventually I did quit but luckily I had my mom to fall back on but it’s not like it didn’t come with consequences because I haven’t been able to find a job for like six months I’m still in college but it’s like i’m not good enough for something, but I don’t regret it about finding something you enjoy in the meantime through working there after my shifts and after school playing games, I loved watching TH-cam stuff to get me by just finding something that makes you happy to get over the board and the feeling of stagnation Well, don’t let it consume. You don’t let it get to a point of self-destruction if it really hurts you that bad then just quit because it’s better for you and for people that care about you
