When you start finding them easy, find another aid, like sand, then sharp sand, and so on. Do it in a horse stance (look it up if unfamiliar). Hard, but very beneficial.
I did that 10 minute, 20 exercise routine on FearlessTofu's channel and had the biggest forearm pump of my life. Could barely move my hands and fingers by the time I was done.
Former powerlifter here, we used to do this back in the day, except we also added rock salt to the rice to add in some smaller, odd-shaped, hard particles that made it a bit more difficult to manipulate. I always had issues with my left hand wanting to come undone with heavy deads after wrist surgery, this sorted me out. Eventually though, I changed to hook grip which was even better. :)
Did this for tournament training, locked grip on the gi for a hip throw. Also for kendo, less pain in the hands when your weapon gets smacked full force.
I was looking to see if it helps with the gi, thank you. Did it also help with grip ending? I am getting back into BJJ after 5 years and I am not in my 20s anymore 😂. I was able to hold on against leg pushing not anymore lol.
@@cam6202 I gained better range of motion in my wrist with gripping in grappling. I used alternating gripping/scooping techniques. I liked use my this before and after rope training.
Wondering the same. Maybe he hasn't been on it as much since this video. You know how life be lifing when you are busy and productive. Also, he's already jacked and all...Waiting for my 5 gallon bucket to come tomorrow as my 25lbs of rice just arrived a few minutes ago...
This is what you train for the Dim-Mok death palm. It makes it so that you can put your hand through someone’s chest and pull out their still beating heart! 💗
Martins Licis will drive with a rubber band and not only extend, but wrist flexion and I do that and other series with my GG extensor bands. The one is like extending as if your rotating a huge door knob for 30 turns
I take the GG Heavy and I'll alternate doing two series, rest between each series. One is 8-12-15-17-18, take break, then 8-12-17-23-30. That's one i do after clubbell work. Days with barbells and with kettlebells get different series and movements for recovery
COACH Megaballz I love this video!!! I never did this or even thought of it and I have a 50 gal bucket of rice in my kitchen right now!! Starting this TODAY!! You're the GOAT Joey!!
helloo brother how are you today, do you think it would work the same if i used beans instead? a common issue with rice bucket training is it dries out the skin too much and requires one to be using hand lotion often, another issue is the dust over time, i was thinking because of the beans hard smooth shell it could solve these issues, but since the beans are too round it might offer too little resistence, would be interested to hear ur thoughts before i buy a bunch of beans
I been doing this for a week now, damn it feels good. I need it so bad because I usually hit a point where my forearms can't keep up with my lifts, mainly curls... long skinny arms suck. I love to "paint" and swirl my hand around in the bucket at the end.
@@Lildoucheboy I’m just curious because super heavys often struggle with grip on deadlift. Usually sighting the thicker fingers as the reason why. Obv thats usually from body fat not hypertrophy though.
@@elliottwright3772 most of the time, as your deadlift gets stronger so does your grip. So most people with averages-large size hands never run into grip issues on a deadlift. However, super heavy weights often have trouble with grip. While someone who’s weighs over 308lbs will likely be tall and have big hands they will also likely have thick/chubby fingers. Combine that with leverages that are best suited for squatting over deadlifting grip becomes an issue. Obv strongman competitors can almost always use straps on deadlift and just need their grip to be strong in other ways. My question was more if the fingers are thick from hypertrophy, tendon growth, etc. does it effect grip in the same way thick fingers from carrying more body fat does.
@@elliottwright3772 in powerlifting super heavyweights aren’t usually the biggest deadlifters on a deadlift bar. They are on power bars but not by a huge margin.
I must try that, soon. I want to see somebody who isn't an experienced musician spend a bit of time doing finger exercises on a heavy-strung bass. I have suggested it to a few exercise people who have TH-cam channels. You could be the first to do it. If you ever want to mess about with it, I could easily type up some exercise patterns to make the fingers feel like they will shrivel and die. :)
I can remember doing this when I was wrestling in highschool. Grip strength and neck strength are important to any wrestler but these are often overlooked by most gym goers. Now they have a head device you can buy but you don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Neck bridges is what we did.
To all the young guys here- Ignore this guy, go get a great paying trade job. After a couple months buy a quad or a dirtbike. Continue this life for several years and your forearm/ wrist and hand stregnth will be 200% of anything youtube can show you and it will have been way funner and youll be way more capable of a human. I promise, you dont even need to thank me. Gym training is never as good as using your body in the world.
Train how you want to train. Believe it or not Mr. Fixinstuff, a lot of people get immense enjoyment out of training and gym time vs. other activities is not some sort of contest with a winner and a loser. They are mutually supportive not mutually exclusive, duh. As a tradesman myself I am not saying your advice is all bad. It's not. It's just childishly myopic.
@@Unit-kp8wm "Childishly myopic" lol not at all, not even close. To your sentiment, Some people enjoy eating poop too, doesn't mean they ought to. I agree with the fundamental point that you should aim for functional ability. Working out for looks alone is media-spawned thinking. Never has it existed in such broad amounts before the last 50 years of our known history. But then again, we are living ever changing times, so whatever floats your boat is a pretty solid advice in general.
lets go team #SAUSAGEFINGERS!
Mom said I'm grounded from the Xbox for mixing up the gripping rice with the eatin' rice thanks Joey
Where’s the update?
Update please
Been doing this for awhile and he is spot on. All the extra blood flow healed up virtually all my aches and pain in the hands, wrests and elbow.
Will give this a try, I can't do pushups without wrist pain so I'll test it out for a few months

It's about the 6 month mark, any updates coming?
Does this work if you are 36 and have arms of a 12 year old?

silly question... does the rice go off?
No
King Charles must do this every day - he's the king of sausage fingers, and also the king

I'm sold, been dealing with some elbow issues that I can't shake, maybe this will help
did it helped you heal ?
Could be a good idea to do a water displacement test for the hand size, would be a lot more accurate
Shaolin monks train like this.🙏
I always put my bucket on a low table...so I dont have to bend over and hurt my lowervback
How often do you have to change your rice?
Emom
Great vlog 🎉
I ordered a bag of rice and bucket, and I can't wait to try your workout. Thanks!
Let us know how it goes!
How is it going

Is there a reason for wanting sausage fingers besides an aesthetic choice?

Yeah I think grip strength is hidden from most people.
Was the 8hr grip workout (with Juji, Antone, and Brian) done during the 6mo? Love the grip vids
Does it work with sand
Literally mentions using it as a substitute in the vid
It's a good exercise, but ... don't do it with rice. Find something else. There's something ... wrong about using food like that.
