Very impressive Royal Norwegian Navy and NATO activities. Hope we have the same action in the Bering and Chukchi Seas. We are only 36 miles from the enemy. At one point only a small strip of ice separates Big Diomede from Little Diomede. Wonderful to see the professionalism of the NATO vessels and sailors. Brava!

There's an ongoing cooperation among Norway, Sweden and Denmark these days, that work to publish exactly what Russia is doing in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, and I'm waiting to see more news being shared to USA and the rest of our friends. The vulnerabilities are becoming more and more clear. The question is if Russia should be allowed to take advantage of them, or not. I think not.
There's probably a very similar problem in the Bering Straits, only not likely with such a complexity.
God bless USA, God bless NATO, God bless the Northern Front! Let's agree to die before we give into tyranny, aggression and invasion.

Some things to note about Russian submarines- Russian subs are unreliable, dangerous and prone to fire, flooding and radiation exposure. Russian subs rarely travel more than a few hundred miles from their ports for fears of becoming disabled. Russia usually has no more than 0-5 subs at sea and those subs are operating at reduced capacity because of low quality materials, components and poor design. Russian undersea crews are sloppy and poorly trained. All nuclear submarines are enormously expensive to operate, maintain and repair so its not likely much will change with the Russian fleet.

imagine saying russias "boats are in quite good condition" when service records have been leaked showing just 2 weeks before deploying to ukraine the moskva, the flagship of the black sea, had faulty illuminators to track targets, problems with fire control radars for OSA missiles, faulty sensors and hydraulic leaks on the 130mm gun, and the search radar for s-300 could not be used without jamming communications.
if having major faults with every air defense system on a ship designed to protect the fleet from the air is "quite good condition" id hate to see what bad looks like. although i guess moskva's pre war condition of not being able to complete any of its designed tasks is significantly better than its current condition having been designated an official ukrainian underwater cultural heritage site.
TL;DR: ships that are in good condition dont get sunk by the exact threat they are designed to protect not just itself but the entire fleet against.

Many if not most of the Norwegian petroleum operations are conducted by both Norwegian Crown (governmental) corporations, and by the Norwegian private sector. Statoil, NorskHydro, Saga Petroleum now all now largely a part of the Norwegian petroleum and petrochemical multinational (ops in 30 countries including Canada) EQUINOR! It's both heavily vertically and horizontally integrated both within 🇳🇴 Norway but also in many other countries.
      🇨🇦 🍁 🇨🇦
PS That excellent reporting also emphasized that the Norwegian armed forces and their 30 NATO partners were working hand in hand with the surveillance, maintenance and protection operations of Norwegian oil and gas industry, not solely on their behalf.
PPS Norwegian petroleum operations benefit their citizenry, far more than American, British, French or Dutch petro-giants. Far less corruption as well or unequal distribution of profits as in the Middle East, Russia, Southeast Asia, Africa or other countries in the developing world where the Seven Sisters' operate!

LIDAR. The sub can be quiet and undetectable by sonar. You don't have to "detect" the sub. If the sub rejects sonar, there will be a huge hole on the map. Stealth has its cons.

A last comment: I'm so glad our NATO partners understand the importance of the oil and gas reserves we have here, in addition to the cables connecting the largest satelite base in the world, at Svalbard, that the Russians have already disrupted, among an unknown number of others, going to Britain and further on to USA, and how we all cooperate in defending these vital resources for our western civilization. Hoping to see more documentaries from the Northern Territories, that we used to be alone in defending here in Norway, and also Iceland was our responsibility, but now also Finland have joined us (!!!) and I hope also soon Sweden (perhaps USA can help put some pressure on Turkey, as this is the only thing that delay that very strong army to also be part of NATO? Turkey just refuse to realize that Sweden have Kurdish POLITICAL REFUGEES, that the Turks call "terrorists"...) Thank you again. 🙂

I was anti-sub warfare aircrew (ASW) in the US Navy. Back then, the Soviets were our chief concern. I know well what Russia is capable of, regarding ASW. Most all of Russia's subs are upgraded versions of the subs I used to hunt in the Cold War. It is good that NATO takes Russian submarine capabilities extremely seriously. I also have no doubt that the NATO ASW capabilities are more than capable of effectively confronting the Russian submarine threat.

The framework in which the West is trying to push Russia is clearly too small for Russia and Russia is capable not only of breaking down the walls in which they are trying to put it, but also of changing the conditions and principles by which our World lives. Because the West is not as strong as it thinks it is, Russia has its own vision of the World and its role in it.
