Duke McKenzie an absolute legend of British boxing. Duke was a three-weight world champion, having held the IBF flyweight title from 1988 to 1989; the WBO bantamweight title from 1991 to 1992; and the WBO junior-featherweight title from 1992 to 1993.

Wilder's always been a poor boxer but the Wilder Fury fought was a very different beast to the Wilder Parker fought. 2013-2019 Wilder was always a handful because of his power, speed and athleticism.
In the Parker fight, I just saw an old Wilder who was very ring rusty and had none of his speed and athleticism left. Wilder was so slow compared to how he was 6 years ago. Father time always catches up with fighters especially ones pushing 40 who are entirely reliant on their speed, power and athleticism like Wilder.

@Jimbo8012 I totally agree, Lennox for me had the most devasting combination of size , speed and power I think I've ever seen, combine that with his unbelievable ring IQ and bravery and you had the perfect template for a heavyweight boxer.
Usyk is a great boxer, moves well, has fabulous timing and ring IQ just like lennox had, the difference is lewis's power, and the fact he had the speed, movement and timing to land that power, I just think eventually he'd have caught up with usyk and stopped him,
I suppose the best comparison you could make when it comes to a heavyweight fighter lennox fought of similar size to usyk would be holyfield,
He had the speed and skill of usyk and was of similar size I guess, yet lennox coped with that speed easily, big difference there though is holyfields chin, it was made of granite! I doubt usyk could take the punches holyfield took,

  • @SmokingJoe62
    @SmokingJoe62 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +20

I certainly agree with Duke 100%
I don’t think enough boxing pundits & fans alike fully appreciate just how talented Usyk really is.
Take becoming the ‘World Amateur Champion’ for example; World Amateur Gold is without doubt one of the most revered and respected titles in boxing and one of the hardest titles to achieve. Winning that title means you are the ‘number one amateur boxer on the planet’. There aren’t 5 x different versions of it, like there are in professional boxing. Here in England we’ve had over a hundred different professional World title belt holders over the years but when it comes to the Amateur World Championships we’ve only ever achieved one single gold medal in the competition’s 50 year history (Frankie Gavin Chicago 2007).
For Usyk to add to that with an Olympic Gold, World Undisputed Cruiserweight (Q: how many undisputed champions have we produced in England?) and now Unified HW world champion. His resumé is one of the greatest in boxing history.
All that said, does that guarantee he will win 100% ? of course not. Fury’s a big old unit and will try to make it into a bar-room brawl and Usyk will need to execute a well planned strategy to counter that. But let’s start seeing some respect put on Usyk’s name by these boxing pundits. Usyk is currently the man to beat in the HW division and by some considerable margin. Fury is and should always be referred to as ‘One Huge Underdog’ against the true boxing legend that is Oleksandr Usyk

This is the best analysis I’ve heard of Fury vs Usyk. I’m glad Duke mentioned Usyk’s work rate because for me that is key. Apart from his many other attributes, Usyk’s work rate is intense and unrelenting, there is no opportunity for his opponent to step off the gas and take a moment as Fury often does between feints or after throwing a flurry of punches. I think his work rate and speed will flummox Fury and enable Usyk to get past his long reach to out-land him with scoring punches. Fury may even drop points if he becomes frustrated and goes a bit rogue, as we’ve seen him do before.

He reckons that a lot depends on your standing in the boxing world, as to whether the ref would look the other way, and in the case of a unified champion like Usyk with all his connections etc, it would cause a much bigger stink with more repercussions than it did when the ref allowed it against Cunningham.

Johny Nelson in an interview with Radio Rachim prior to Usyk vs Belew fight said that Usyk can beat every heavyweight comftarbly. When Rachim was a litle bit shocked from such a statement. Nelson said that he saw Klichko sparing for the first Fury fight. One of his sparing mates was a young guy that destroyed Klichko in two rounds. This is when Johny Nelson first saw Usyk and when he knew this guy will be a big problem for everyone. He also made a very interesting remark that Usyk boxes well within himself at ease. He can box mich better and ocasionally he rampes it up but he boxes with ease to do as much as is neaded to secure the win. Johny atributed this to Usyk not knowing how good he is and thus not boxing at the peak of his abilities. But Usyk adressed this in an old interview when he said that he does not need to use all of his tricks and go 100% when 60-70% is suficient to secure the win. He explained that this gives his opponents a sence of false confort while he can always ramp up his fighting to overcome his opponents. What i find fascinating is that this is streight from „The art of war” by Sun Tzu which Usyk has read multiple times and which he showed in an interview for Sky Sport prior to the Belews fight.

Now on the umpteenth year of making the same prediction (and I've been on a crazy prediction streak with heavies) but Duke is the most realistic prediction. If Fury actually shows up. Barring weird cuts or injuries. Yes, GIVE that we all agree a single wild punch can change anything. Yes, a McCall KOed Lennox in 2rds and so on, given both in top shape in a normal bout:
    - Usyk will almost immediately force Tyson Fury to 'know what he has to do'. So this feinting and junking around will be stopped as Usyk absolutely already has gut-punches for that. So every time he tries it's not worth it. Fury will stop that.
    - Fury will then try and bear down on Usyk with his 'genius ring IQ' sack-of-potatoes MMA tactic and keep falling forward as Usyk pivots out and tags him.
    - Fury will then be left with trying to land 1-2s down the pipe (which he is good at) and become very disappointed when Usyk keep coming up from under and applying a 'Russian wall attack' or whatever they call that.
By round 6 Fury is going to start looking like a 'Big Oaf' and realize he's not winning by points as he cannot go into deep waters with Usyk. By 7 to 8 he starts Frankenstein launches 'GRR FIRE BADD!!' Swings that miss.
.................it could get so bad that Fury finds himself falling on his face, getting jammed along ropes, taking knees and gimmicks.
Question: will Fury purposely get himself disqualified so he doesn't look like a stumbling blind cyclops and lose his 'Genius Ring IQ' myth/selling point or does he just find a way to sprain and ankle and quit on the stool?
