This is perhaps the best example of why British chat-shows are better than their American counter-parts. Everyone's having a great time, including the audience, and it doesn't have this stiff, professional, corporate business feel to it. Celebrities can come on and promote their new works with more than just the standard plugs. Seeing such a fun and human side to them actually improves their images and makes them more appealing for people to follow when they come off as nice, fun people.
And the fact they are allowed to drink which they can't on US talk shows. So yes, Graham is more fun to watch when the guests are loosened up with drink.
Look up the episode with Stanley Tucci with the segment about bad menu translations. His reactions are funnier than the photos - and they're pretty darned funny!!

US chat shows milk things to death too. This bit would have taken up a third of the guests appearance on a US show.
