@QRS666 HEllo Anders I love your version of House carpenter and hope everyone interested goes have a listen .. I like that you do it slowly and with real feeling . . It is amazing how fast Clarence Asgley did this song in his youth . Amazing amount of pull offs for a wash of rhythm .I wanted to bring in a bit more of the melody but wanted the pull offs as well . HArd to make a balance there..
Guy, I cant thank you enough for this one. And for all you share, and for all you've taught me. You're a good man. And brightened a most dreary day. Thanks.
@htragyah Thanks Tony , You would really enjoy having a go on Kevin Enoch's Dobson .I hope you get a chance one day ! It's a bit exacting but you are so good at getting a good sound out of that kind of instrument . I have to hit a little more quietly and with a flatter finger to get a bright note . We finally have snow falling here . Finally white !
Wow! One of my favorite songs and your version is really good! I play it more slowly but I really like the drive you have in the song. Will have to take up this song again. A pleasure to watch as always, Guy!
@diggity53 This is pretty related to ClarenceTom Ashley's original vertion .(You can find that here on YT) . Ashley does this even faster with a wash of pull off's all the way through it ;his signature. . I wanted to add a bit of the melody to underline the song .. Hard to know where to draw the line though ... A few more years playing it will help !! All the best , Guy
@fralin1966 Yes its a Enoch H.C.Dobson style banjo .. Nop this one is the 12 " pot . It takes a very different attack than any other banjo I have ever played . The great thing is the banjo is teaching me things; always a good thing .. Yours Guy
Lovely job, Guy! Do you have a favorite BritFolk version of the song too? I remember being blown away by someone's version years ago -- Carthy, Waterson, Peter Bellamy? Notice it's the title song on a (!) Natalie Merchant album... with banjo and more instruments building on top.
@fralin1966 Great ! My newest CD came out in November . My Email and phone are at guywolff.com and I can get your address that way .. Thanks for the interest !
