      @@mrutherford1106 not much. He picked the puck up differently. Where the Michigan the guy got low and put strength on the puck to make it lift up a bit so he could pick it up svechnikov just pulled it back and ramped it onto his stick

    The goalie’s attitude towards the goal is refreshing. Obviously hated it as a competitor, but looking back at it he can appreciate the moment. Cool to see.

    I was at that game in Edmonton when Philip Forsberg did the Michigan. It was odd, the entire crowd kind of went “ohhh?” When it happened and then once it played on the replay everyone went “ahhh!” Sometimes you just have to admire a beautiful goal

    I still play at age 59, and I'm blown away by the dangles and trick shots the kids are doing these days. I remember when Legg did this (as I'm also a Michigan fan) and credit him with really putting creative hockey plays on the books to where they eventually became mainstream.

    i was too young to see it when it happened, but i saw it around 2002 and i remember back then for so long every chance i would get practice picking up the puck and twirling it around on my stick. that move/goal was probably one of the most exciting moves in hockey.

    Gopher fan here. Love you Steve! Thanks for all the great games to watch with my son growing up in the 90's. I hate they call it "The Michigan" It should be "The Legg" to give credit to Mike. Your right, if he had missed they probably would have benched him! Hockey players were becoming very creative all through the 90's.

      It should actually be called The Armstrong, because Bill Armstrong is the one who invented it and showed Mike Legg how to do it. It only got famous from Mike because it happened in such a big game.

    Man, this series is awesome. You gotta ask my fave goaltender and idol Patty Roy about his last game in Montreal, a disaster, and turning that low point into his third cup in Denver. It is so cool to see their point of view. They have a very tough job for sure!

    As a young Gopher fan back then, this goal was the worst thing I had ever seen! I hated this goal and felt like it cheated the Gophers out of a great shot at winning the title.... as a adult I can admit it was a good goal.... but I still really really hate it

    Its called "The Legger". Anybody that watched cawlidge hawkey in the 90s referred to it as such.

    In the big ten hockey tournament a week or so ago, a Michigan player tried to do this against none other than Minnesota but a defender was ready this time to stop it.

    I hate when people call it the lacrosse goal or the Michigan, it's the Mike Legg goal, cmon people remember his name. Mike Legg has to be the most famous person who hardly anyone actually remembers his name. Everyone knows where he went to school and what he did in a hockey game but few people actually remember his name; at least that's my experience when everyone looks at me like "whaaaatt?" when I say the Mike Legg

    Can someone explain to me how you do it in nhl 21, I never get the puck to stick on my tape and when it does it's not for long. Am I doing it to fast or what?

      NHL Guides seems to have a pretty solid tutorial on the matter if you're digging around.

      I think it also has to do with an incredible amount of luck, and a high OVR on your player. I almost managed to nail it on Be a Pro but I just lost it at the last second

      Also the 85 Mike Legg card has 99 Deking with his synergy

      @@CBCSports In case you were looking for more footage, there was a VHS put out by the Michigan athletic department called Our Day has Come. It has a lot of interviews with the players and clips from the entire season.
      The national championship game Michigan won that year vs Colorado College was available on a dvd-r from the NCAA, which is why it's surprising they haven't just uploaded all of the dvd games onto youtube.
