What I think might have went on in this au thing: Adrien found out his father was Hawkmoth so he faked a suicide so he would have more time to get Hawkmoth and focus on that. Everyone hears and now Adrien is primarily chat, with breaks here and there for Plagg and other things. He occasionally now goes to Mari's house and she asked if he knew Adrien, being Adrien he says yes finding it as a way for closure for Mari since he found out previously that she had a crush on him and that she was devastated on his death. then the video takes place :P
