George Jones was a huge friend and mentor to Vince Gill, that guitar solo he did wasn't planned, he just needed the time to collect himself to finish. That first person you saw standing up was Garth Brooks, another huge country artist, but you probably won't be able to do reactions to his songs, but you can at least listen to them. Him mentioning "they don't make those shoes anymore" is a reference to a George Jones song "Who's Gonna Fill Their Shoes?", I do recommend watching the video to that.

    • @richardmodglin3900

Anytime anyone has done a “Garth Brooks” video on TH-cam.. comments that are people that know Garths voice.. including myself- can tell it’s a cover singer- I don’t know if they specifically hired someone to do that or what.. cuz it doesn’t even say that it’s a cover.. the guy singing isn’t too bad.. but definitely not Garth- .. and if familiar with GB, you can pick up on it.. and it’s frustrating because the reactors have no clue.. of course- they’re not familiar.. so yeah.. I know Garth has been BIG about copywrite for a loooong time-

I was awestruck by Patti's seamless transition from backup vocalist to lead, and the band's effortless ability to keep playing and give Vince the time he needed to compose himself. It was a display of absolute professionalism. But when Garth Brooks and the others stood in solidarity, I was moved to tears; it was a truly remarkable show of camaraderie among artists.

I've been a fan of Vince Gills for the longest time. Check out his earlier works when he was with Pure Prairie League There is a live you tube video of him performing the song 'Aimee'. He is currently a touring member of The Eagles.

Just an FYI, Patty could sing the phone book and sound amazing. Check out her version of "Crazy Arms"

I've been a country music fan all my life. This had me crying like a baby. Vince Gill had to step away and pull himself together.

He also sang this song for Loretta Lynn and added a third verse just about her. You have to do Holes In the Floor of Heaven by Steve Warner ( the last name may be spelled different ). It came years before my grandmother passed away, but it came on the radio as I was driving to her house after they called and told me she was gone and I had to pull over because I started bawling. It's a beautiful song and he is an amazing singer. He sang backup with Vince and others at the tribute for Loretta.

Patty Loveless is his cousin and has been harmonizing with her cousin e love and concern she has for her cousin. What a true star to smoothly move from harmonizing to the lead every time he needed it. My esteem for her rose dynamically as I watched this. The entire audience including all the stars were truly moved. The camera zoomed early and you saw Bruce Willis standing alone like a shoulder from afar for Vince.

Yes, Vince wrote this song when his brother passed away. That is why he is so emotional.

Oh no this song is going to make you cry so much! This is such a touching song and this performance was extra painful.
