I sincerely do not know why Johto feels so much more like home than any other region. The music themes feel like they describe the towns - do you remember your reaction the first time you walked into a new town? For me, remembering that is just pure bliss.
in my opinion the fact that your pokemon is right there behind you, following you and just having the same experience as you for the first time is the biggest reason why it feels so much like home, because it’s how most of us would act if they were real

Johto was big, unknown, the start of the game was great (with the thief, the kids fighting, the little place with geodudes) and it's good all along, the bellsprout tower, normal and insect arena, the pit, the Sudowoodo, the lighthouse.. this whole game was amazing It's was a bit difficult (that's what really lacking in other pokemon games) at the start, got two regions and great legendary (and not yet 50 of them)... Lot of little thing to do like the the ball berrys, the bros giving item increasing an element each day, the insect catching tournament.. And the phone ! The old 2G was amazing, and HGSS is indeed the best pokemon game

They aren't officially by Nintendo, but fans have collaborated to recreate these servers and keep the DS era of games alive. In fact, there are many people who dedicate themselves to accomplishing these GTS and Battle requests.
I played Red and Blue when they were released but Gold and Silver are my favorites. It was amazing at the time to be able to travel back to Kanto and battle the gym leaders at their full power. What a time to have been a kid, man. This mix sends me back.
Agreed... I can't believe they haven't gotten the message about this. It would have been great to have been able to visit Johto and Kanto in Generation 3, and so on.
Back then, Gameboy Color considered a privilege among kids in my place. I didnt get to play Pokemon until it was 2003 and played it on an emulator on my dad's PC. My most vivid memory of this game is when I discovered the waterfall access to Kanto. That feeling when you have another adventure waiting for you even after Pokemon League is just awesome. Love this game.

My brother, four cousins, and I all grew up playing Red and Blue. But my heart belonged to Johto when Gen II came out. I still have the Gold Version my grandmother got me before she died.
I grew too with Blue (me) and Red (my brother) in GB Pocket. For me the hardest edition. Later , I remember playing Silver in a Rom emulator in my PC in the summer we re-painted the walls of our home. My room was just the bed, and the table with my old PC and Pokemon drawings. My mum passed a year and a half by now, and yesterday would have been her birthday. She gifted me the Blue Edition, of course I still keep it. I miss those days. I wish I could go back there...
I recently started playing Heartgold again after taking a break from Pokemon. I've really enjoyed playing it, it has a completely different feeling than the other Pokemon games I've played, does anyone else feel this way? Maybe it's because it's one of my childhood games, no idea. I love this game :)

Johto...the first region I ever played as.... So many memories, I still will say Johto is number one region at my list, though it lacked some story line but Probably the post game made it even much better! The game felt much more alive than today's game, like they put their efforts while Making it, this was literally the golden era of pokemon. Thankyou Johto, only for this region, I continued my journey through the games.
This region will stay with me for ever. Just reminescing about my summers as a kid, playing and exploring this world, makes me emotional. Thank you for these playlists. ♥️
Kanto: First region, first journey, where it all started, best pokemon designs, always special, always nostalgic, always pleasure to play it again, legendaries, fossils, missigno cheat 😂, mewtwo.... Johto: well this region.... the excitement of meeting new pokemon, the new legendaries, the unown, the introducing of shiny pokemon, red guyarados, lance, goint to kanto region once more and finally trainer Red on top of Mt. SIilver. I remember how badly i wanted a sneasel and you coudlnt catch it until you finish the game almost😂 Lapras hunting, legendary dogs hunting. I remember how hard time i had to find and catch lugia. The Fighting dojo master in the cave who was giving a tyrogue as a present and then i realised that i didnt have empty slot for my pokemon and i had to go out and in to find him all over again 😂. So many memories, so challenging games, so perfect. And then i only played once every other region, except hoenn which is also kind of special, but the rest.... its not the same anymore, no challenge, no fun, no exploring, no discoveries, just curiosity how are the games and what are the new pokemon. But as i said, maybe i just grew up....
I definitely remember how exciting it was when a whole other region got unlocked! I too really wanted a Sneasel because I thought dark/ice was so cool! The karate king in mt. mortar always got me as well, and I never had dig or an escape rope ^^ Heartgold is my favorite game, but I also think Emerald and Platinum are awesome! The other gens I personally don't like AS much but I still think they are really fun to play :) and because pokemon is pokemon, I don't think ill ever hate a gen.
It's a product of time friend. Kids nowadays are having those same exact emotions when playing the new pokemon games which you deem as "trash". Notions of exploration and adventure leave our bodies as we age and come to the realization that the real world is a dull place that we just move with the motions to get through. Not to mention that as adults we are subjected to scrutiny from other adults that prevents us from letting our inner child soul run free. Hell, if we even go out to "explore" a local forest as adults we'd probably be arrested. Children are adventurous, curious, and most of all pure. Adults have been tainted by reality which is a shame, but that's the curse of life. Pokemon spans generations and we shouldn't instill our desires to have the past that we remember back on the youth of this generation because we risk harming their childhood in the process.

Pokemon heartgold was my first ever Pokemon game that I've played, I chose Chikorita because it thought it was pretty cute compared to other ones. I also remember asking my cousin brother to help me.
Best remake ever! you had a good choice. Now, try to play Crystal version. Althoug HG/SS's gameplay is way better, the originals have a magic touch... 8 bit is a cool style.

ill be 33 in june, and im still playing GSC. best music, amazing game play. the deep rooted historical notions of the johto region make me feel like im right there with my team. i remember playing silver version into the evening during the winter cuddled up under some blankets on my atomic purple gameboy color. i play it to this day at work when im waiting in my truck, relaxing at home or just out somewhere in the countryside. i bought a second gameboy with crystal, gold, yellow, red, blue and fire red. ill complete this pokedex eventually.
Until the summer before my freshman year of high school, I had never even played a Pokémon game. I happened to have a coupon for a free game rental at a local video store, so I decided to see what all the hype was about and rented a copy of the recently released Pokémon HeartGold. I didn't expect to fall in love with the game. I grew very attached to my Chikorita, Clover, and I felt so sad when I had to return the cartridge a few days later. Fortunately my birthday was just a few weeks away, so I asked my parents for the game and spent the rest of that summer immersing myself in the world of Pokémon. I'm very thankful for the comfort HeartGold has provided me over the years. It has become my favorite game of all time and even after playing many of the other Pokémon games, HeartGold is always the one I return to because I find it so nostalgic and soothing.
Wow. The Goldenrod and National Park re-imaginings had me in tears - such good memories associated with this music and it's so lovingly created here. I fully attribute all my interest in music now to playing Pokemon Silver for the first time as a kid and I associate it with fun, joy, adventure, discovery and beauty. I'm really hoping that when I have kids they find something that brings them this much joy when these games, and this music, did me.

the storyline never lacked. It was a sequel to first gen after all. Basically it's a full story from 2 regions all together.
Pokemon Gold was the first game I played. Violet city felt like home. The good days I had with my Totodile... The good days :')

ill be 33 in june, and im still playing GSC. best music, amazing game play. the deep rooted historical notions of the johto region make me feel like im right there with my team. i remember playing silver version into the evening during the winter cuddled up under some blankets on my atomic purple gameboy color. i play it to this day at work when im waiting in my truck, relaxing at home or just out somewhere in the countryside. i bought a second gameboy with crystal, gold, yellow, red, blue and fire red. ill complete this pokedex eventually.

Until the summer before my freshman year of high school, I had never even played a Pokémon game. I happened to have a coupon for a free game rental at a local video store, so I decided to see what all the hype was about and rented a copy of the recently released Pokémon HeartGold. I didn't expect to fall in love with the game. I grew very attached to my Chikorita, Clover, and I felt so sad when I had to return the cartridge a few days later. Fortunately my birthday was just a few weeks away, so I asked my parents for the game and spent the rest of that summer immersing myself in the world of Pokémon. I'm very thankful for the comfort HeartGold has provided me over the years. It has become my favorite game of all time and even after playing many of the other Pokémon games, HeartGold is always the one I return to because I find it so nostalgic and soothing.

Wow. The Goldenrod and National Park re-imaginings had me in tears - such good memories associated with this music and it's so lovingly created here. I fully attribute all my interest in music now to playing Pokemon Silver for the first time as a kid and I associate it with fun, joy, adventure, discovery and beauty.
I'm really hoping that when I have kids they find something that brings them this much joy when these games, and this music, did me.

My first Pokemon game was Yellow, got the special Gameboy Color that was Yellow with the game. Loved that game to death. But I remember vividly me begging my mom to buy me Pokemon Crystal when I found it in Toys R Us 😅 good times...
