Rab is an amazing British Brand, I Have this exact Jacket inside the Artic circle at -40 centigrade, very warm but id be careful near a fire with it as it’s likely to suffer if hit by any embers.
I love my Marmot Greenland down parka. Yeah, it’s 750g but worn over a fleece and base layer I had to unzip to mid-chest and take the hood off at -20F because I was starting to sweat. The parka, my WM Flight down pants, and WM Flash down booties compress down to 3-4l and don’t weigh much over 1000g.
The only downside I have with this is the Velcro strap for the price point something other than Velcro which will wear before the rest of the coat .. my NF McMurdo is guilty of this as well
I just find RAB not worth the cost…. But perhaps they are worth another look. I don’t care how many whales were saved - I want value for money and I want my equipment to perform when I need it :)
Yeah rab is probably one of the more affordable brands for what you get lmao it’s also meant for alpine climbing and that sorta thing so yeah you pay a premium either way but if the Amazon jackets suit you for backpacking then that’s fine but for us mountaineers and alpine ice climbers we will gladly pay that extra cost
Dan- The hood is like that because it is meant to be helmet compatible. This is a mountaineering purpose made jacket.
Came here to write this
Love the colors, when I have money this will be my first choice
Dan, those "massive hoods" are also called "helmet compatible hoods" -- they're made to go over a climbing helmet (when needed).
I never bought this brand jacket but it looks good 👍 I normally buy Eddie Bauer jackets 🧥 😊
Nice to see some rab stuff cheers dan 👍
Rab has a great winter products

Also the only temp on the scale where you dont have to specify C or F because at -40 theyre the same
Dan. I just left you a comment on your best jackets of 2023. You just this week made me buy another one…..
Are you now going to temp me again!!
What's "extreme temperatures" to you? Because it is -30°f where I am located right now.
This would be a midlayer for that I think.
Currently wearing this exact jacket in Norway and the temperatures wave go to -40 Centigrade
no one cares
Your so cool🤓
What do you consider extreme temperatures?
How about with wind? I see there’s no cover for the zipper. I’m just curious about the wind seeping through the zipper area. Thanks.

-28° Celsius?
@@akirahumerYeah, I thought I’d taken a pic of the town convenience store’s thermometer reading -25F while I was out walking around but I guess not.
@@philsmith2444 that's insane. Have to look for one
Try Rab’s Vapour rise range, the Alpine Light VR jacket it’s brilliant.

I am looking at the PositronPro. Can you review it please!!
hi 🌷
How much is this one ? ℹ️
Is isn’t warmer than the exp$ red one you have?
Take care
🥳 Cheryl
Is that the one you used in the Grand Canyon?
Glowing ember hits that instant hole.
😂thanks for making me feel like a fool having this exact jacket and wearing it even at 10°c 😅 perfect jacket though
You want to try rabs mythic ultra 900 fill power and tilt lining
Yeah but stay away from the camp fire with that thing. Those little flying embers create lovely little holes
