When it was only two or four teams selected, elite teams with great resumes got left out. Not the case now. SEC can't have it both ways, welcome great teams into your conference, suck up the money, but whine when more Ls for your top teams come with the deal. Besides, there is a slight over-rated aspect in regard to the SEC. In the mid 2000s with Florida blowing out Ohio state and LSU also winning pretty comfortably, the SEC started separating itself, then Alabama re-started its dynasty. How many times though during the season do we see these supposedly vastly superior opponents pushed to the brink by supposedly inferior opponents. Idk but i am beyond sick of hearing about how Texas is the "best" team in the country and they are going to win it all and blah blah blah. They havent done shit all year. Im convinced Texas was paying these pundits to talk good about them.
@notimportant4994 the funny part about Texas is the same SEC Homer's that are upset about smu, boise, ASU, Indiana or clemson getting in while having "easy strength of schedule" completely look over the fact Texas (tennessee too and they lost to arkansas of all teams) had the objectectively easiest schedules in the SEC, Tennessee at least was able to beat an overated alabama team with its head up it's ass but Texas's only real competitor they've faced.. they lost to twice.. they got here entirely by blowing out a bunch of group of 5 and fcs teams lol. They're no better than ole miss was early in the season
Bama Fan here, I am also happy with the decision. This Bama team did not deserve a spot in the Playoff's, and the Oklahoma loss just proves that fact. However, the problem I do have with this is that it sets a precedent where your strength of schedule does not matter as much. My fear, is that we will no longer get to watch great games through the regular season and out of conference games between power conferences will end. Also, as much as I want 9 SEC games, I feel like that will now longer happen. Though this is just a fear, not really a guarantee.
Oregon went undefeated in their first season in the Big 10, beating Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State and finally Penn State to win the conference championship. To win the national championship they'll probably need to beat Ohio State (again), Georgia and Texas. When the Ducks win it all and go 16-0, Alabama fans will still be saying that Bama had the toughest schedule in the country.
Yes, they got it right. Clemson is worse than smu, which is why Clemson is ranked 12 and smu is ranked 11. conference championships matter and wins matter.... wait, Clemson, just beat smu? these rankings are bogus.
Oh stfu. SMU won 3/4 of the game and there was only 1 penalty on Clemson (it was very one-sided). The first quarter really messed SMU up. Clemson is not a better team than SMU. 4/5 times, SMU would win. This was the 1/5 times they would win. In either case, SMU only had 1 loss in the regular season. Bama had 3x that amount. You don't penalize a team for losing by 3 points in their conference championship.
@Koby5649 i agree that bama shouldn't be in the playoffs either except going into the rankings before the conference championships. The committee said that sos matters. based on that, bama should be in. the committee changing their reasoning is the problem I have. there needs to be clear rules, guidelines, and reasons for the playoff selections. if not, there is no standard in rankings like this year. well, we will have to see how smu and clemson do.
My only issue is that conference champions get the automatic byes. I'm fine with auto bids for the 5 champs, but they should be slotted in the bracket based on their rankings. Boise shouldn't be #3 and ASU shouldn't be #4. Also Boise doesn't get a home game. Boise vs PSU/SMU is the Fiesta Bowl.
It is good that the NCAA has a 12-team playoff, and all of the real top title contenders are there. But the format needs to be tweaked and improved next season. It is ridiculous that Boise State and Arizona State get first-round byes. The teams that get the first-round byes should be the top four ranked teams in the country, like every other college playoff format. Weaker teams from weaker conferences should not get a first-round bye simply because they won a conference. Texas, Ohio State, Penn State, Notre Dame, etc. all would have dominated the Big 12 or the Mountain West conferences if they played there. The 12 teams should be ranked one through twelve, and teams should be lined up according to their ranking, not whether or not they won a conference. If Boise State was ranked ninth, they should play the eighth-ranked team in the first round, and the winner faces the number one seed in the second round. Number six seed Penn State has an easier road to the semi-finals than the number one overall seed Oregon.
Conference champions should get auto byes in my opinion because if they don't then what really is the point of winning your Conference. There would be no incentive to play a Conference championship if you just risk getting removed from top 12. Only tweak I would add is for the worst seeded team to win out of round 1 to play the 1 seed and 2nd worse play 2 seed and so on. So if the 12 Clemson were to beat Texas (won't happen but just for this hypothetical they do) instead of Clemson playing ASU they would play Oregon
You can’t project what a time would potentially do in a certain conference only what a team actually does in their own conference. If so everything will based off of brand and logos which wouldn’t be that interesting honestly.
Overall you can't do that because they notoriously suck at ranking. To your point they ranked Boise st way too high and imagine if they had free range of the bracket
I agree except I think Indian and SMU seeds should be swapped. Also I actually agree with your prediction for the playoffs as well. But I do think we could see an Oregon vs Notre Dame matchup in the final
I like the expansion but I think in the near future how it will work is that if you are one of the 5 highest ranked conference champions you still automatically get in BUT you would be seeded according to your ranking. So Clemson (despite being #16) would still be the 12 seed in this model but Boise would now be the 9 seed and go on the road to take on 8 seed Indiana and Texas and Penn State would get the other byes and so on
Bama fan here. Tbh I’m not surprised we’re not in the playoffs. Lowkey kinda glad we’re not. Milroe is dog water hope he gets drafted. Kinda glad Texas is out. Know what. I hope Oregon wins it. The sec has been so ass this szn that I don’t think anyone in the sec deserves it. I mean only team I’m surprised to see is Notre Dame ( I feel like they’re the team no one talks about. Sorry ND fans)
Thanks for sharing your opinion on the CFP, however Smu indiana Arizona state and Clemson shouldn't be in, hopefully the NCAA fixes this mess within the next few years! 🍻 🤝
They’ve always got it right. For example 2017 and last year 2023 bama deserved it. This time smu deserved it. Also football is so popular it’s so easy to hate if you get what I mean. No one has the same level of love for college hops but march madness was so much better and still is better than CFP
Not saying Ole Miss should have gotten in but they were honestly a top 5 team in the country and probobly the best team in the SEC so it sucks they won't even have a shot at competing
It sucks but jus due to their conference it was always gonna be tough for them damn near their only shot was beating Notre Dame once they lost that game that was pretty much it
Keep your head up, bro. We got a 12 team playoff now. That significantly increases Army's chances of making it in the next few years. And just remember, 12 teams are in, but only 1 can win it. The one good thing about your team not being in, is that you can kick back and watch all these teams' fanbases have meltdowns from losing and being out of the playoffs. There's no more stress on your end. Grab some popcorn, kick your feet up, and enjoy the show! And Good Luck to Army next year! Sco Ducks!
The ridiculous thing is, if any extra SEC team deserved to be in its Ole Miss or SC. Not Bama. I'm not saying they should have been in but better than Bama
Why would Ole Miss deserve it over Bama? They both beat Georgia as their best win, but Ole Miss lost to a 4-8 UK. SC lost to both Ole Miss and Bama, but I would say they've shown the most growth of the 3 and would beat either in a rematch.
@@Koby5649 I could definitely concede it could be a bit of a toss up but Ole Miss played more consistently than bama and lost all 3 games close. The kentucky loss is definitely a bit damming but its only 3 points compared to a 21 point loss by Alabama to oklahoma. I thinks Bamas losses are just worse. Its close but worse.
Definitely not ole miss, I mean they literally lost to the most putrid team in the conference and South Carolina did have a better season but they lost to Alabama so
Bama fans have been spoiled. They are just used to being in playoffs. They cant wrap their heads around Bama being out. They just need to accept that Saban is gone. TYhose automatic playoffs are going to be more difficult.
This is why nobody cares about organized sports anymore, because it's no longer about the talent of the person or the team. It's about how the owners can make money by manipulating the outcomes. There's no way SMU should be in there before Alabama. If you look at their schedule they didn't beat anyone ranked. Alabama played four or five ranked teams and beat most of them.
People are addicted to Alabama because the first thing you think of when you hear "best team ever" is Alabama. They have created such a history for themselves (even prior to saban, but especially with saban) that it's hard to ever picture a playoff without them being somewhere in the picture. Alabama is a blue blood program and the most accomplished college football program of all time. But don't get it twisted, they're not the only ones who get this effect. Ohio State, Michigan, USC, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and arguably Texas also get this treatment (because they are also all very accomplished blue blood programs) just not to the extent that Bama does. I'm an Oregon fan, and it just looks...odd to me when Ohio State doesn't make the playoffs. It looks odd to me seeing USC be this bad, it looks odd to see Oklahoma this bad and it looks odd to see Michigan this bad. That's just kinda what comes with the territory. And unfortunately, what also comes with these teams, are massive fan bases. When Oregon loses, I also become very emotional, but there's no where near as many ducks as there are fans of these other teams. These other fan bases are ENORMOUS. So, when Bama or the others get the short end of the stick, this is the outrage you get.
I will also say yes I get it’s fun to see different teams but this isn’t a fan league. If you wanna see other teams in maybe be good and not lose to teams they shouldn’t be. Example Bama. The best are the best for a reason. Bama just wasn’t good this year but are a dynasty regardless. But people hate success for sum reason
i am very happy bc bama got left out. how in the world does a team that lost 3 games cry me a river that they did not get into the palyoffs? this years alabama is for sure not the one that has the right to cry that they got left out. they lost to vander and olka. they themselves are they own enemy this year.
You obviously have no idea what You are talking about. The committee put way too much value on the conference championship games. SMU, Penn State were both propped up and ended ranked OVER the teams that beat them. Indiana played nobody. And Boise State played no Power 4 games at all. To say Alabama’s loss to 6-6 is worse than Ohio States loss to terrible 7-5 Michigan is just stupid. We will see how that goes when Bamas backups slaughter Michigan in the bowl. But these are NOT the 12 best or deserving teams. Alabama has more top 25 wins than half of the playoff field COMBINED. Tell me a ranked opponent that Indiana, SMU, Boise State, Texas, Clemson or Notre Dame beat. I’ll wait…
@ScottFisherCFB I doubt that because you would have mentioned the td wiped away by terrible call. Deflating any chance of Bama getting back into game. It is what it is. Bad playoff games.
@@derickclemons369 You invalidated any argument you could have possibly had by blaming the refs. That's what losers do. Oregon, Georgia, Texas, Ohio State, Penn State, hell, even BOISE state, ain't losing to Oklahoma no matter what the refs do.
@@jk1nz3r I'm gonna make a bold prediction that Oregon won't make it to the championship game. Think Texas is gonna get their crap together and beat Oregon in the semifinals.
I dont want no more crying or b%tching about SEC favoritism. That argument is dead dusted buried..... And while i say this Alabama and Miami are better teams than many of these playoff teams just like Georgia was a better team than many last season.
The SEC glazing is crazy in these comments. ESPECIALLY for Alabama. A three loss non-conference champion shouldn’t be anywhere near the playoff. Idc what conference they play in.
Bro said the most deserving lol… the playoffs are a participation trophy. It’s the best teams not the most deserving. SMU hasn’t beat any top 25 teams.
You mocking the sec bruh? 🤣so you like the term Skull crushed? Anyways I'll tell ya, Gaters ole miss Mizzou and south Carolina all deserve to be in over Indiana smu Clemson and Arizona state.. doesn't matter what your record is or strength of schedule, I want the best 12 teams in the playoffs, and we didn't get that this year not even close, the media wants to see the chaos that's why we got what we got... The conference champs will not get the auto bid in the future and no group of 5 team will make it unless they go unbeaten.. the CFP is a project in the making... If your an sec homer I'm Sorry if your team got screwed out of the playoffs, just know that the ones who have common sense we understand who actually deserves to be in 🍻🤝
Yep! Three losses in the SEC trumps any losses in the ACC ...would Bama lose three in the ACC, Big 12 or heck even the BIG 10 ... I don't think so ...totally joke and nothing more than a woke football "playoff"
@@ARYZEMusic Alabama wouldn't beat Ohio State, Penn State, Indiana or even Michigan lol. They already factored "SEC" play in, which was why they were the top 9-3 team in the country.
Total joke! It's supposed to be the 12 BEST teams, not 12 MOST DESERVING. If ya wanna include beauty pageant contestants (like Boise State, Arizona State and "God-F*CKING-AWFUL Clemson) then expand to 16 to assure at least 12 truly deserving teams get a chance to play it off for a real champion. And the fact you started your post with "the committee got it right" tells me all I need to know.
I’m sorry, but I hate this expansion. College football used to be you had to watch every week because you had to be perfect. Not teams like Notre Dame able to get in with the losses that they had. That loss was inexcusable. They should never be allowed to play for a championship. But for some reason now, people love this expansion and allow teams to have losses that should keep them out of any sort of playoff. The game I love used to be you had to be perfect. That even if you had a good run, but had one loss you were done. This expansion to me his room in college football. That’s my personal opinion. You’re allowed to have yours. But I used to be able to watch every week knowing you had to be perfect. Now we’re having discussions about three lost teams or about teams with horrendous losses on their record and for some reason they can play for national championship. I will never understand why people wanted expansion.
With the loss* that they had. The 1 loss. To NIU. A bowl eligible team. You all act like it was a blowout. Just afraid of what Notre Dame is going to do to your overrated SEC/B1G teams.
Indiana SUCKS!!!! And shouldn't be there. IDC what their record is. The haven't beat anyone worthwhile. SMU is another team that shouldn't be there. They've played on decent team all season "Clemson" & couldn't even beat them. I wonder how much money will be lost with no Alabama. Alabama or the Gamecocks should be in. Especially SC they are playing very good football these days and would have been more exciting than watching SMU & Penn State. ISH is a joke
If alabama wanted to get in, they shouldn't have lost to vandy and oklahoma, and idk not play an fcs school late in the year to pad their stats. South carolinas best wins are against Texas a&m who isn't even ranked anymore, and Clemson who is only in the playoff because miami choked. Not to mention the fact that they have three losses. If you want to get in, win your games.
Again ...objectively do you think Clemson, SMU, Boise State, Indiana, or even Arizona State beats Alabama, Ole Miss and South Carolina?? I'd say all would be lucky to win one, much less all three. Win it on the field. Clemson beat SMU ... South Carolina beat Clemson ... Bama beat South Carolina Ole Miss beat South Carolina and Georgia by three touchdowns each... yet, none of those teams are in because they lost three SEC games. None of those 5 teams I mentioned above would finish ahead of Alabama, Ole Miss or South Carolina if they played in the SEC. It's easy to get up for three games a year ... try doing that in the SEC and then we can talk about "deserving" ...such a moronic podcast
@ARYZEMusic I'm so fucking tired of this argument. You can't just say that those teams wouldn't do well in the sec, that's why they play the fucking games. Those teams won the games they should have, alabama and Ole miss didn't. Simple as that. You can't just say "THeSe tEaMs CoULdN't PlaY in THe sEc" and call that an argument.
Two complaints. An Indiana team with one significant game (which saw them get their asses handed to them) and the first round bye selection set-up. If you want to use Indiana's one loss as justification why not include Army, also another one significant game ass whipping? For years we've seen the FCS playoff system which does it right. Why can't the FBS use their blueprint instead of a convoluted bye week for totally arbitrary reasons? Would love a 32 team field but 16 would work. With 32 you'll get the teams that started slowly and finished strong. Now we have #8 and #10 final ranking teams rewarded with byes and the #3 and #4 teams playing.
Alabama's horrible. You people think that you want to win the Tri-County handicap golf tournament if you could. Give it a break. You got left out for a reason, because you're not good enough.
They actually got it right. Bama shouldn’t have made it after losing to a Oklahoma team with a fundamentally broken offense and losing to a decent at best Vanderbilt team

Blah, blah, and more blah! It is, as it is.
Blah blah blah
Overall you can't do that because they notoriously suck at ranking. To your point they ranked Boise st way too high and imagine if they had free range of the bracket
I agree except I think Indian and SMU seeds should be swapped. Also I actually agree with your prediction for the playoffs as well. But I do think we could see an Oregon vs Notre Dame matchup in the final
I felt some seeds were set up to keep teams within a conference to play each other in 1st round
I like the expansion but I think in the near future how it will work is that if you are one of the 5 highest ranked conference champions you still automatically get in BUT you would be seeded according to your ranking. So Clemson (despite being #16) would still be the 12 seed in this model but Boise would now be the 9 seed and go on the road to take on 8 seed Indiana and Texas and Penn State would get the other byes and so on
Shocked that the committee got it right
Alabama needs to strengthen that schedule
Bama fan here. Tbh I’m not surprised we’re not in the playoffs. Lowkey kinda glad we’re not. Milroe is dog water hope he gets drafted. Kinda glad Texas is out. Know what. I hope Oregon wins it. The sec has been so ass this szn that I don’t think anyone in the sec deserves it. I mean only team I’m surprised to see is Notre Dame ( I feel like they’re the team no one talks about. Sorry ND fans)
The problem is who gets the automatic byes. ASU & BSU are not top 4 teams.
Thanks for sharing your opinion on the CFP, however Smu indiana Arizona state and Clemson shouldn't be in, hopefully the NCAA fixes this mess within the next few years! 🍻 🤝
Tennessee to the semis
They will do everything they can to make sure that OSU will have a rematch vs Oregon so I wouldn't hold my breathe
@@notimportant4994 a man can dream...
Tennessee got robbed a Home game by the playoff committee but will still win!!! GO VOLS!!!
2:00 HAHAHA
Oregon Already Beat The Whole Playoff Bracket - Quack Quack 🦆
They’ve always got it right. For example 2017 and last year 2023 bama deserved it. This time smu deserved it. Also football is so popular it’s so easy to hate if you get what I mean. No one has the same level of love for college hops but march madness was so much better and still is better than CFP
Not saying Ole Miss should have gotten in but they were honestly a top 5 team in the country and probobly the best team in the SEC so it sucks they won't even have a shot at competing
The team that lost to a 4-8 UK team and the Florida team that was blown out by Miami?
I love the “deserving” comment 😂😂😂 you definitely grew up when everyone got a trophy.
Any Team, Anytime, Anywhere. Sco Ducks!
First I noticed there’s a lot of orange teams
Kinda sad Army didnt make the cut but i guess i can understand.
Army has to schedule themselves in.
Sco Ducks!
I'm riding with Boise State. I want chaos, not logic.
Ohio State losing to Michigan should disqualify them. They looked so crappy against a crappy team
Cake walk for uga go dawgs sic em WOOF 🍻🤝
It’s goes like this NFL, SEC then college football
Yep! It's SEC vs everyone else.
Arkansas was an away game
Army is better then a few teams on this list..❤
Good!
South Carolina got snubbed and I’m a Georgia fan
Did not work, Oregon was punished because they should have played a 12 seed and so on.
ASU 💀 SMU 💀
Why people addited Alabama? They shouldnt be in talk. They are not a king anymore
Bama had no business in the playoffs this year.
I wonder if this guy ever even played the game?
You obviously have no idea what
You are talking about. I’ll wait…
They got it wrong. Of course you didn't watch the Oklahoma game. You only watched the ending score. Now you got unwatchable playoff games.
Oh i watched the whole game. Time after time Alabama made horrible turnovers
@ScottFisherCFB I doubt that because you would have mentioned the td wiped away by terrible call. Deflating any chance of Bama getting back into game. It is what it is. Bad playoff games.
Cough cough Jalen milroe. Hope he gets drafted kinda tired of seeing him. Ty was way better
Bama lost three games to garbage teams. They’re not their former selves without Saban
@@derickclemons369 You invalidated any argument you could have possibly had by blaming the refs. That's what losers do. Oregon, Georgia, Texas, Ohio State, Penn State, hell, even BOISE state, ain't losing to Oklahoma no matter what the refs do.
Why did they put the lower ranking teams in the bye bracket at home instead of the higher ranking teams?
No alabama?? There is a God lol
I think the final game will be Texas vs Oregon.
It can't be. TX and OR are in that same bracket. They could face off against each other in the semifinals but not the championship game.
I’ve got Notre Dame v. Oregon, ducks by 10
@@jk1nz3r I'm gonna make a bold prediction that Oregon won't make it to the championship game.
Neither has Texas. Should they not be in as well?
If your an sec homer I'm Sorry if your team got screwed out of the playoffs, just know that the ones who have common sense we understand who actually deserves to be in 🍻🤝
I listened to the first 30 seconds. You clearly have an issue with the SEC and have a hard to excepting how good they are😂I'm out!!✌
Georgia Tech, an ACC mid-tier team, took Georgia, the SEC Frontrunner, to 8 OT's. The SEC is not really that great anymore.
@@Koby5649 Yeah good luck with that😂
Amen. This is a true blue SEC hater.
Lol no Vols win
Milrore is a trash QB. Great runner and horrible at QB. They should start Ty Simpson and put milrore as an H-back
You're insane, Penn State is going to roll SMU at home in the cold. And the Ducks beat up an injured OSU. *GO BIG GREEN*
When have the CFP ever been about the best 12 teams? Hell we don't even know what the best 12 teams are, even if we did, Bama ain't one of them.
Get used to not seeing Bama in the playoffs. The SEC isn't what it used to be.
Indiana shouldn’t be in the argument shoulda been bout Indiana vs bama n Miami
Indiana didn't lose two 2 6-6 teams lol. They also didn't fail to score a touchdown or failed to take a lead in their only loss. Cry Harder
Smu is a joke just like the whole acc
why you gotta do the acc like that? 😭😭😭
Boise St is not getting a home game, just a bye
Money
SEC fan ☠️
Maybe Alabama shouldn’t loose 3 games…
