Awesome Visual X-ray detailed for the Welders. Thanks for the great images as they do help in welding. T J (Tom) Vanderloop, Author, Technology Consultant & Memberships in AWS & LSME
@ 4:06 I have a handout set of images of radiographs of weld defects from the PCN level 2 course i attended and it has this exact photo and it is described as slag inclusions. Just wondered who decided that this is a picture of worm holes? I must say they look more like slag inclusions to me.
The oval shape with black dots inside them suggests it's a twisting wormhole. That's how I was tought anyway. Furthermore slags are rather in the groves betwean weld lines. This looks like a thin plate and the defect is in the axis, doesnt fit to slag imo. I'm in the wh camp with this one :).
Now that i look more closely i think the hand out photos i was given wrongly describe it as slag, if only i knew the welding process, it does look like MAG which would rule out slag
Catalog plates? only for beginners and it is no use hahahaha because if they see a real rx plate or find any defect, they are much more subtle and not so easy to identify or talk about if it is a thick thickness

@ 3:00 on the right, under the slag inclusion is that a crack. It has the dentritic whispy tails coming from it?
