First of all Vittorio Emanuele IV of Savoia Is not the heir to the italian throne 'cause he married a commoner against the rules of the Savoia royal house and against the will of his father King Umberto the second, that's why he can't, in any case asking for anything. Second point the jewels were considered by the last King (Umberto II) properties of the italian crown and he fairly left them to the new republican autorities, so we are discussing about nothing. I apologize for my mistakes in english.
The house of Savoy ruled the now called Italian region of Piedmont since 1003. The Duchy of Savoy was an independent state for centuries. The house of Savoy was elevated to the rank of Kings in 1713. Numerous queen of France were princesses of Savoy along side with queens of Spain and Austrian emperesses. The house of Savoy has a large collection of jewellery even nowadays. When Napoleon campaigned in Italy stoled a lot of jewellery from the Kingdom of Sardinia ( ruled by the house of Savoy ) in fact one of the bigger diamonds in the empress crown is called “ Sardeine “. It is known that King Umberto sold her grandmother pearls to finance the referendum campaign.
Crown Jewels should belong to the Country and not the family who abdicated the Throne. The ‘Savoy family are hardly a dynasty. And the current Head made his fortune by selling guns, etc. His Father did not approve of his marriage to a commoner and disinherited him.

@@joeragliardo so NOT Kings until the 1713. Not a particularly nice person Vittorio Emmanuel the Head of the House of Savoy, who died in the last year or so. Also, Perhaps don’t take things so to heart…
@@rosemarymonty5399 Yes, not kings until 1713 but they were an independent Duchy for centuries. During the middle ages there were several queens of France from the house of Savoy and many princesses of other Royal houses around Europe were Duchess of Savoy. I remarked these connections to explain that this family is one of the eldest in Europe and the fact that ruled Italy less than 100 years is not exemplary to explain their lineage. Vittorio Emanuele III was a controversial figure because he was on the throne for 46 years, so in his reign various things happened: from the victory in WWI to the Fascism to the his role in Mussolini arrest and change of alliances. I don’t like your attitude in your comments because, as an Italian, for better or worse, they were OUR Royal Family who finally reunited the country after centuries of foreign occupation to give us a sense of proud of ourselves. I take it to the heart because with such a long history this royal family is often forgotten and from OUR point of view it is a shame.
Elena was the daughter-in-law, not sister-in-law, of Queen Margherita.

Queen Marie Jose’s antique diamond tiara is beautiful. I always like tiaras with movable pieces.
They are quite embarassing, I hope they don't get the jewels back
Tutto molto bello questo video reale.......
Gorgeous ❤

I'd rather see in the museum.
Daughter in-law not sister in-law is correct.
I think a good compromise would be to put it on display in a museum and have the proceeds go to charity

The jewels belong to Italy not the individual descendants of the royals. I want to see them in a museum so the public an enjoy them.
They are not the rightful owner of those jewels.
Just look at it this way, if umberto the 2nd had taken these jewels into exile with him, his sleazbag son would have sold it off by now
That is a particularly ugly Tiara. The House of Savoy was less than 100 years ruling Italy. Not much compared to other ruling houses.
