- Billie Eilish and Finneas brought their fashion A-game to the 2024 Critics Choice Awards. The brother-sister duo told Access Hollywood's Scott Evans on the red carpet how they prepared for the awards ceremony. "My thought was corset. I'm preparing mentally and physically for the day of a corset and heels," Billie said. "This is not a day that comes many times for me so when it comes it's like okay, here we go. Being a girl today. I don't usually wake up and like choose girl, but I did today," she added. On the red-carpet Billie also read America Ferrera's iconic "Barbie" monologue and revealed why it's "upsetting." "That monologue, it's so upsetting," she said. "Every time I hear any of it, I'm like 'No I don't want to hear this right now. I'm trying to enjoy my day. I don't need America telling me the truth of life and being a woman. But I do like, we all do," she added.

I love how Billie Eilish doesn't shy away from expressing how certain narratives, like the 'Barbie' monologue, can be unsettling yet necessary. Her honesty in saying that it's upsetting, yet acknowledging the need for such truth-telling in media, speaks volumes about her perspective as an artist.
This is one of her best outfits. The monolog is sad but it needed to be said for everyone to hear.
He makes everyone feel awkward, and has a very poor interviewing skills.
America’s monologue was the best part of the movie. It’s so true, every word. So relatable and so understood by every woman. I balled during that, because the pressure and confusion on girls and women is something only we experience.
lol
*insert laugh track*
Greta's 'Little Women' had the same type of monologue and it worked so well there. The Barbie monologue felt forced and I was kind of cringing when I watched it. I don't know if it was the delivery that didnt work or if it was the fact she used the same speech in another way. Its too overused I guess?
Interesting you mention this, I kept hearing about America's speech and when I heard it I also thought it was just ok. Florence's delivery was powerful and and even Saorsie's "I'm so lonely" speech felt more powerful than America's. To me, a key thing is that America is a solid actress and I applaud what she does, but Florence and Saorsie are on another level.
barbie feels like a movie that is addressed to women of 2015 but when it comes to 2023 it just feels redundant and the way they insert the monologue just doesn’t feel right. It would be better if America’s audience were real women instead of Barbies. I mean the old woman’s delivery is much better.
Thank God I'm not the only person who felt this way. It didn't feel sincere and moving just a copy and paste rant we have heard before.
Even though I loved Barbie, I have to admit, I was disappointed by that monologue compared to the Little Women one.
Yeah it was a bit cringey but I appreciated it’s presence. Not sure how it would’ve been better but it did come off as a performance, like not as believable and natural
The monologue needed to be said.. it was a pivotal moment of the movie
We love a pair of siblings 😍♥️
This interviewer BLOWWWS!!
Felt like the monologue was written for young girls…as a woman, its a bit too on the nose for my taste and comes across as a bit tacky, actions speak louder than words which i wish the film executed better
yep. if i were in greta's shoes, i may have been thinking, 'ok, now i need to give some sort of ANSWER or huge takeaway or 'ah-ha' from this whole thing'.... but it's really really not needed. and it seems WEIRD, but honestly, the movie. would stand. for itself. you know how much we interpret from the SIMPLEST paintings? you can go on and on and on.
it was too on the nose, ur right.
with who was in the movie, as well as the social climate,, as well as social media etc,, this message could've been EASILY. EASILY. drawn.
and if not, that's what press tours and interviews are for.
if *I * was doing it and also had a lot of trust, I would let it BREATHE. so much more. SO MUCH. because ALREADY with the barbie movie, you know who is the winner. you know the point. you know you know you know.
silence is half the symphony.
agreed
@@nternetrat Good job you're not doing it then, if that comment is anything to go by.

Q lindaaaaaaa arrazou
this look is SO !!!
I couldn’t Relate to the monologue at all and I had an interesting conversation with my sister about it where I’m disabled and those pressures aren’t put on me. In a weird way it’s kind of sad.
Same Billie. Same 😭😭😭
Billie wasn’t lying when she said she was focused on working out. She’s so tiny now
Bill Burr can do an entire special based on the movie Barbie, and this.
I thought i was about to agree with Billie Eilish for the first time...
Finneas looks hot
This exchange was SO passive aggressive. Especially her brother, who to be fair seemed to feel the need to protect her which I get. But dang that was soooo uncomfortable.
what? have we watched the same video? i saw 0 passive aggressiveness. where have you seen it? it sound like a very normal interection to me all the way
whcih part?
whatttt, i loved that interaction so much, it was so cool how he noticed him as a human and what he was wearing and had an organic connection with one another as humans despite the dynamic, i thought it was beautiful *shrugs... most the time celebs act like stuck up jerks in these interviews, or the interviewer is super cringey it never fails lol but i loved this
Why does she always look like Evil Nun?
And you look like...........?
Baby FGal!
I like how Billie is embracing her lesbianism
??? Assuming somebody’s sexuality isn’t a good look for you, buddy.
@@DeathRisiing Girl, stop it lol I think Billie was my grade 10 co-ed gym teacher in a previous life
Billie is bisexual. She said she likes both women and men.
@@dorothyallspice1862we were all bi at first....
OMG... so awkardfina!
That monologue is the cringeest thing I Ve ever seen
cringeest 🤔
Oh why? Because it’s _true_ and you don’t wanna face reality? Gotcha.
It was written for little girls. It’s only cringe if you think it’s for a grown woman.
@@slowbuildingsmusic but it's true for all women.
@@chlyri I agree about the part that it's women judging other women that's a problem. She's right about that. You see it everywhere.
I can't watch this, it's too awkward and forced for words. Why can't journalists learn how to be intelligent on the red carpet?
In a few years she’s be forgotten. It’s already happening.
She just won a Grammy in a major category. Try again 😂
This girl is so annoying and her whole 'I'm very original' act is clearly meticulously calculated. You're not fooling anyone, lady.
