I find it important to share the steps that way if someone else is interested in taking on their own version of van life they have at least a resource out there that might be a bit different. There are so many different ways to do things so if I add anything to the space in way of value I am thrilled!!! Just hope it is helpful!!

    My preferred travel style is still camping in a tent or hammock, but after seeing your journey in this series, I have began to take steps toward having a car/suv camping set up also. I have really enjoyed all of your tips and how you have made it so accessible for travel. My company has extended remote work so I will be doing my job on the road over the next few months while traveling to some more remote places. I am eager to do so as a result of watching all of these videos. You truly find some of the wonderful places out there that are more removed from the crowds. Cannot wait to get on the road. Thank you for sitting down and sharing why you opted to change your bed. This makes so much sense. You always have such a great way of sharing information and the visual of the cot was completely understandable as to why you would veer away from using it, I think that was very smart. I applaud you for your transparency in this journey, it really helps people like me who might not consider doing this think maybe I could more and more for short vacations.

    • @BunnyPlaysHere
      @BunnyPlaysHere  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem!!! I really wanted to let everyone know that the no build did well by me and had I not have had an older cot I likely would not be making these changes just yet.. but I think that the great thing about the van is that it does allow you to make changes as you feel comfortable... I want to make sure everyone knows that.. you don't have to rush to get what you want!!

    Very spacious. What fabric do you use under your mattress please or spring? Cheaper than buying a bed

    • @BunnyPlaysHere
      @BunnyPlaysHere  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The mattress is memory foam and is wrapped in its original cover. The bed itself is a wooden frame painted white to seal the wood from any kind of moisture. The mattress was about $150 because of the size I bought however the twin I believe was $115 when I purchased and would have been sufficient for the size had I not have potentially wanted to expand in the future.

  • @ArtsyLadyCrafter
    @ArtsyLadyCrafter 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    You are one of the very few nomads who prefer their bed to be placed lengthwise, like I'm going to do, rather than across the garage doors. Congrats on your new bed! Looks great!

    • @BunnyPlaysHere
      @BunnyPlaysHere  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much! I really enjoyed placing it in a static position because it allows me to move more freely and not have to always be changing and moving things around every day just to get in bed. Although I do love the conversation space that it opens up whenever they have the rock and roller style or fold out bed this suits me much better. Not to mention I could put a very comfortable mattress that doesn’t have to be in there fold LOL that was very important to me because of my back issues that I have experienced. Thank you so much for watching and the encouraging words!

    I've been watching all of your progress videos and it is great to see what all you have done. I have a travel trailer so when I go places I have a lot more room, but you have everything I have just in a smaller space. Makes sense when it comes to how you travel and it has been fun to watch. The bed will change everything for you because it will be more comfortable but also will help you stay warmer when it is cold out without the air just under the mattress. Keep it up.

    How is the floor working out since installing the bed? Does it move as you drive?

    • @BunnyPlaysHere
      @BunnyPlaysHere  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So far I haven't noticed any shifting. The bed is built to be a bit heavier than my previous one and it sits in one of the channels of the flooring pretty firmly so I don't notice much in way of anything moving unless I physically move something. The floor has been sooo great so far!! I might even entertain sitting on the floor sometimes because it is so much more comfortable now...

    Huge comfort improvement with your new mattress and words of wisdom on selection that are extremely true. My husband and I had to find a new mattress for our RV because the one from the factory was not good. I struggle with circulation issues and so it took us a while but finally we found one and it made all the difference.

    • @BunnyPlaysHere
      @BunnyPlaysHere  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely!!! I feel like Goldilocks and the 3 bears.. this one is too hard, this one is too soft.. this one is just right... but in reality that is how bed selection goes... They are so great there!!! And if the weight of the bed is of concern you can always create two sections to lessen the weight and size for moving it into the van for the overall build. Additionally they do have mattresses which are already cut to size available on some websites but those are a bit more costly.

But starting out with the things that we already have allows us to not only get the awareness of our space but also to become better acclimated with what will and will not work for us. And then we can upgrade it just goes to show that you don’t have to have everything figured out all at once

      With the new bed height I can sit up but it is very close to the ceiling. I knew when adding the legs and mattress what I was getting into what that height however. The mattress is an 8 inch mattress so I could have easily gone with a 6 inch and had plenty of room. The legs after being cut down are about 14 inches in length to accommodate the bins which are 12.5 inches in height. I did pick up wind deflectors and install them on a previous video and yes they are very helpful. In addition I have picked up some of those magic mesh screens and cut them to fit my doors so when I am in a stationary place I can open the doors for additional airflow such a great thing to have and they stow away under the bed when not in use :)

      Awesome! I think that each and everyone of us can do this it just takes a little bit of determination and small steps each day toward getting closer to our goal. If you’re interested in doing this just set forth your goal and start edging away at it each and every day through small things that are achievable. If you try to do things in large bounds sometimes it can get overwhelming but by doing small steps it works out much better

    It looks great Bunny. I bought one of those self inflating sleeping mats but I do wonder if it will be enough. Perhaps I will try the memory foam at one point. I am getting great tips from your videos. Thanks.

    There would be some possibility that your dad builds a bed for my nissan, I would pay him, because I don't have anyone who wants to do it ..., I think they don't understand the meaning of "sleeping en route for " free ":)

    • @BunnyPlaysHere
      @BunnyPlaysHere  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don’t think that he’s up for the challenge of that right now… He works a lot and although he was flattered by the fact that you were interested him having a day off is rare… I made it to prime away this weekend so that we could go on an adventure but he hasn’t been able to even travel in quite some time…

    How is your bed frame attched to the NV? I too have a bad back. Thz for sharing Bunny.

    • @BunnyPlaysHere
      @BunnyPlaysHere  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The frame itself is not attached. The way we built it is sized perfectly so as to not allow movement. I have enough weight on top of it and the items that are placed below it so as to not allow movement sideways also.

      I have considered it but I still use my van a lot as a daily driver and have people who ride with me from time to time so it really makes me hesitate

    You bed doesn't look like it is in a van at all. Looks like a house somewhere. You could probably use this even if you decided you didn't want to be in a van anymore.

    • @BunnyPlaysHere

      exactly!! I could easily turn this into anything I needed it to be, which is why I went with a more aware design which is comparable with more life in general!! I am all about multi use

    How's the new bed frame & mattress working out? Height OK? Length OK?Legs sturdy enough?

    • @BunnyPlaysHere
      @BunnyPlaysHere  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I really am enjoying the bed. The sturdiness that it brings makes my nights sleep much better and also the height is perfect for all of the things that I need to put under it. I know that I’ve been asked many times can I even sit up on it and absolutely I can and comfortably.

  • @pelletized
    @pelletized 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    how do you secure your bed to the van? or is it heavy enough to not move much when driving? thanks for this, you're giving me lots of ideas for my nv200 🤗

    • @BunnyPlaysHere
      @BunnyPlaysHere  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is heavy enough it doesn’t move and when it was placed in there is a little groves channel in the floor from the floor ribs that it fits into perfectly so that also helps

    What brand memory foam did you use? Not sure where to find your links to products?

    • @BunnyPlaysHere
      @BunnyPlaysHere  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Olee is the brand Usually there is a link in my description but some of the videos it has been disabling the links so I’ve had to remove some of them I’m working on fixing that.

    I am confused, I thought you had taken all that foam flooring out because it was contracting and expanding. Did you find a solution? I really like it but wondering if I should do it, I’m preparing for the van, not quite there yet.

    • @BunnyPlaysHere
      @BunnyPlaysHere  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have remove this flooring. Some of the videos don’t end up presenting to the viewers in the correct order for some reason. This was actually a Video shot before taking out the flooring.

      I absolutely can. Typically whenever I am editing a lean up against my back door so it’s more like a lounger and then whenever I’m eating I can sit up straight as long as I don’t have a tall hair clip in LOL
