Good that solved the issue! Another problem than can cause high fuel consumption and bad performance is when the fuel pressure regulator diaphragm pops and raw fuel gets sucked by vacuum into the manifold. It nice to see an Aussie video
haha that scene with just the hood in view and you behind the wheel cranking the engine! "that's not good." :D love the straight to the point video man, my 940 has the same issue + rough idle and stalling. I'm at my wits' end and will check the injectors next, thanks man!
@WhatUpTKHere okay, I was just curious. I'm having some no start issues with my 1987 volvo 240gl. I replaced the fuel tank/sending unit/ both pumps and filter plus the relay. I just used a noid test light, and while cranking it over, the light is not flashing. So I'm guessing I don't have injector failure but computer failure. I've put some shorts on my channel of my volvo come look. Thank you for putting this video up it was helpful.
@user-yw9bo8eb1l Well, the ecm was smoked. I pulled it out and immediately could smell the electrical smell. Ordered a used one off eBay and plugged it in, and the car fired right up. Thank you for responding.
Don't have part # on me, but if you contact a parts house they should be able to find you a refurb kit for your 740 Turbo. I'm on Aus so I ordered locally. Great cars, hope yours runs again!
Balooney. My 1992 Volvo 740 T plainly pressurizes the fuel rail as soon as you turn the ignition on. You can hear the furl pumps run for about 3 seconds. Otherwise, nice video.
@@WhatUpTKHere Oh! But no how did you manage to hold it steady? Just a socket on both ends? Im having to buy a full spanner set as mine are VERY stuck and my poor pump is screaming begging for me to do it but I just cant as it keeps twisting and making it extremely hard :(

Yes, that would also suck plenty of fuel! Cheers for watching!
This is such an aussie fix what a legend
Hahah glad you dig it!

Good luck, they’re awesome cars when they’re running!
Saved me a fortune with this! Legend 💪🏻
Ayyy! Hope your brick is running well!
Have been looking for refurbish injector kit for my 1986 740 turbo Volvo stationwagon can't seem to find them where should I look for them
Depends on your country - FCP EURO might be able to ship internationally though!
Good Job
Did you determine if the filter was really dirty, the rail dirty or was there dirt in the tank?
the car drove much more smoothly after this, I think the filter was pretty filthy after 330,000km (though it may have been changed before).
So, did you dirty up the injectors after pushing old debre threw old filter?
Nah, the car ran much better after all this.

@@Buildingstuff123 hm! hope you can track down the problem! Is the pump getting switched on, are you getting fuel to the rail?

Your car uses a different fuel injection system. This is an ‘88.
HI good job. what kind of cleaner did you use?
Methylated spirits and some throttle body cleaner I think?
HOW THE HELL DID YOU REMOVE THE BANJO BOLT ON THE FUEL FILTER, MINES SOOOO STUCK
Get a breaker bar and the right size socket! I didn't have too many problems tho

Wait I just realised you're in SA!
Adelaide? I would love to show you my wagon and see yours in the flesh!
I replaced the fuel filter btw and she runs amazingly am just about to do the lift pump!
Did your oil clear up of fuel
It did!
Thanks my man!
No problem!
Nice
Hope you found it useful!
don't put vaseline on plastic parts, it will ruin the plastic, use silicone grease instead. Otherwise thanks for the video :=)
Good advice! However, as these parts are made to resist attack from petrol, I don’t believe it’s an issue here. Thanks for watching!
You are funny. Great video
Thank you! I do enjoy tinkering.
