Very impressive. You know, the more I see and learn, the more I am convinced that, anything is possible. That is Magic. You definitely know a lot about that. Love from Allan and Zina, Devon UK.
Thanks Nancy. The hole with the burr is called a countersunk hole. Can be done with a hss drill bit for those who may be put off when they see burrs and pendant motors. Metalwork was my most hated subject in school. 35 yrs later and I'm still tinkering.
Hi Strube, I sent you email too as I'm a bit confused as to whether or not you get notified to my responses here -so, excuse any duplication! You were completely, single-handedly responsible for the final nag on my son. He put it up hours after I emailed him your email. So, thanks! Thanks for your wonderful comments - love 'em. Nancy
Thanks Nancy! I need to do this on a project Im designing. I learned how to do this in class a few years ago, but I couldn't read my handwritten notes, and my memory is failing me. So helpful!
Hi Scully, You might do a tube rivet as the weight of the hammering will be transferred to the tubing and is not as likely to dent the dome. I'd use a thick-walled, unannealed tube as the tubes like to bend - especially if the distance between ends is great. I would also complete most of the riveting on one end of the tubing first - not attached to the piece, to reduce the # of blows it must resist. That way, only one side gets hammered in place. Email me if you'd like more info. Thanks. N
Hello Kcapozza! Thanks a lot! You are right, it's not easy - what you don't see are the hundreds of times that I screwed up over the years. Usually, my demos have big old mistakes in them too! I just keep a big box for mistakes and sometimes I cannibalize them for stones, metal or I give up and they get refined. I sell my work, currently, at four galleries in the S.F. bay area. My website: Nancylthamilton (add the dot com). has that info. Once again, thanks for watching and commenting! N
Hi Trekranger, I do not do engraving. I've studied it and really stink at it. It takes a huge commitment of time to get good at it and I chose other techniques plus, there is too much sharpening for me. I do use gravers on metal clay though. It's an entirely different process with clay. Thanks for watching, as always. N
@pheenix42 Hey pheenix, I got that darling anvil at Harbor Freight Tools. The surface needed finishing with a disc sander (not the one in the video - a big one) and tons of elbow grease. Just thought I'd share. Thanks for watching and commenting. Nancy
love your videos! could you please tell me how would you do an invisible rivet on a finely embossed piece of titanium because i think the sanding would not be possible? thank you.
Nancy, thanks! Disappearing rivets. Like magic... As always, good info and you know I love your presentation style. Hey, do ya think my whining helped motivate your son? Tell him thanks for me, too.
@strube1369 It definitely had something to do with it :) She forwarded me your message. I will be releasing the other two in the next two weeks and we should be filming some more this weekend! Stay tuned!
@gmrgrl2600 I just finished a video on the flex shaft so, that should help you get started. Available soon. If your hand piece has a chuck key, then (almost) any size drill bit will work. Get high speed steel drill bits. There are many sets of drills out there. Try Rio Grande Jewelry or Harbor Freight. Bits are expensive. Buy what you need. Try matching your drill bits to the size of wire you will be using. See the drill bit chart on my site. Email me for more info. Limited space here. N
I love your videos. After all these years, they are still my favorite!!! Thank you.
Wow Julie, thanks for sticking with me! It's been 12 years now. Crazy. Thanks again! N
I saw this video years ago but had forgotten about using the bur. Thanks Nancy for all of your help.

I enjoy you videos. I wish you would stop saying "nail set". That's a punch for sinking a finish nail in trim. You're using a center punch.
