thanx for the tutorial!!! i'll definitly have my friend come over and bring gh3 and his labtop so we can both master this song!!
What it 2021 and I found this what?????
@Cubo me too. XD
@@marshalldillon9130 me too
Nice
ain’t you Nathaniel B?
be like me and use a rubber band on the green button, its not cheating, real guitar players use capos. its legit
Kapos are used to make a chord sound in a higher key with out tuning the guitar higher and breaking the strings in doing so. Not to hit continuous hammer ons....
duh, you have to hold you're finger like a capo, and hammer on all the other buttons. besides, the first part is all keyboards in real life, i can play it all. its not that hard
I used an actual capo...
Lol is cause real guitars aren't easy to play... :(
real guitar is easy to play =p you just have to practice
When he showed it in slow motion, I was like "Yeah, I can do it!" Then it came on full speed and I was like "No way, I cant do that :("
Have you been able to do it?
@@Adzinth also wanna know
For 2009, this was actually really well done. The video is clear and the audio is too. Good job young Phenom
One of the best tutorials out there for this song. Well Done dude!
14 years old and this tutorial is still crazy good and appliable
this should be memorialized
Hey Danny, 2 weeks ago I watched this and ever since last night I’ve been practice 3 hours every night on the intro and I finally nailed it tonight 15+ times in a row, THANK YOU!!!!
ok i figured it out, if you can do it on lower speeds but struggle on full speed you need to practice tapping the notes as quick as you can. it's more important than you'd think
Wait, you mean you don't have to tap the green button? THIS EXPLAINS EVERYTHING

Thank you SO much for this tutorial. You brought me from not having a prayer of getting to 2% in this song to actually having a chance of getting through the intro. :D
2024 and ive figured it out guys! my parents are in nursing homes, my nephews have graduated high school, my girlfriend left me and my daughter refuses to speak to me but I can fc the intro hell yeah ;)
This is one of the guitar hero videos of all time 🔥
Tapping method is easiest once you can do it 100% on slowest but its harder to learn. wheres the first method is easier to learn but much harder to perform full speed.
Element?
TH-cam recommendations are a crazy place.
Bruh
Hahah lol
I'd be scared to hit my funny bone on the first note xD
LMFAO
wtap I've done that
I did that and my guitars strum bar broke because it dropped when I laugh.
The problem with everything but the one handed method is if you make a single mistake you're most likely screwed :/
the only help is elbow strum XD
+burnecy ikr
No, incorrect. If you miss a "slider note", you don't have to worry. You will not have to strum again, keep going.
Drew Lattimore huh?? slider notes didn't exist in GH3???
Yes they did. But if you missed a slider note, you can keep sliding, you don't have to strum until they are gone, and comes a basic (or extended) note.
I started playing guitar hero when i was 5, and im 13 now. I remember playing this game on the playstation 2 lol, i still play but on Xbox 360 now.
Do you STILL play it at 15?
Andrew Proffitt thats the exact same story as me lol
I still play it on PlayStation 2
Greatest Tutorial Ever Made! Has Definitely Stood The Test of Times!
omg thanks.. now i can defo fc closer
It's because the green notes are actually pull-offs. It's like holding down the 12th fret on the B string of a guitar. Then you tap the 14th, 15th, 17th, 19th and so on. The higher frets are hammer ons, but the lowest (12th) will always be a pull off. And it will automatically be "strummed" every single time a higher note on the same string has been tapped.
dude wow. ive been practicing for about 10 mins this is helping so much. your defiantly a GOD!
This tutorial was extremely helpful! I can 100% through all the options you showed us! Thanks a lot!
I can do this on every speed except full speed. My fingers just cant move fast enough to hit the notes. I perfected Slowest, Slower, and Slow speed but my fingers dont move fast enough for full speed. Any suggestions on how to make my fingers faster?
hey, a method I have tried is going to options, the cheats then turning no fail mode on, then putting hyper speed up to level 5, try that a for a while and then go to hyper speed level 4 for a while then (you don't have to go anymore levels down for hyper speed) turn hyper speed off and try it on expert, it will seem very slow and your fingers will be used to the hyper speed mode. (the no fail mode will only work on quick play). I hope this helps :)
Great idea, Im actually going to try it right now lol. Thanks
your welcome, and did it work?
No lol, the notes go so fast I cant even see what notes are coming next
oh im sorry, try it on hyper speed 1 or 2 then
It's insane that I used this a few months ago to pass the song when this part was holding me back... just shows that the classics do hold up :P
Let's compare this Danny to 2015 Danny
the reason the green is working is because they are all single notes and green is the lowest fret, and is also every 2nd note in this part(unless u include the last little part)
because of the way GH3 works with hammer ons and pull offs, whenever ur holding the green it will be taging the green notes, so as long as thats held the entire time ull only need to tap the other notes
(havnt playd for a bit so could be wrong on a few things, and im no pro my fingers are too slow to do this bit)
Problem now is how would u do this on rock band 4?
Kappa Pride you don't, rock band is for nerds
You don’t
@Noah Gentrybut with strumming all the notes and 1 handed
Very helpful video. This is one of two songs I've yet to beat on GH III. Judging by the comments, it's funny how many people don't have a clue how this game works...
My friend said she tried your method but she said she only uses one hand cause her fingers are so long... is this possible?
The beginning of a new era
thank you soo much!! i can finally fc the intro! :D
i use the one where you hit blue and orange with youre right hand :)
THANK YOU SO FREAKING MUCH!!!!! Been trying to nail that thing for weeks
this part of the song is very weird to me because for some reason when I play the song at full speed the greens are not being hit although I am holding the button down.
that is because u have to tap the other notes like using a standart ps2 controller i guess. for example u gotta hit green, red and then green emediatly in a rapid fashion if you hold down red for even a tenth of a second u will miss the green one. because when u had to hit the green one u were still pulling ur finger of the red button. u gotta tap em..... really quickly. not hold em in advance. not hold em after you hit em and switch to the next color on the last second like its a long note. just gently tap em extremely freaking fast.
thanks
I think my way should get out there too!
Left hand : index-green middle-red
Right hand : index-yellow middle-blue ring-orange
You should hit the first yellow note with your left ring finger to give yourself enough time to move your hand from the strum bar to the frets
Oh big deal I can do that one handed too -_-..............in practice mode........On the slowest speed setting...............LOL
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL!!!!!

if it wasnt for danny i would have never beaten TTFAF THANKS DANNY! ALSO I LOVE YOUR REAL GUITAR COVERS

I've just passed 'Through the Fire and the Flames' and I spent a long time practising the start, I never made it onto full speed. But then, I played the song and strummed like crazy and passed the start, I was pretty suprised at the time and never knew it was possible that way.
I give up, so done. Not even playing guitar hero again.
I still play it. I passed this song
On hard
I passed it on expert 2 months ago, now i have no problem with it hardest part is the beginning, i find that i need to get a little lucky to pass it first time, but its easy once you've done the hammer ons, i use one hand and 3 fingers, so anyone can do it.
you can also wrap a rubberband around the green and after the beginning synnthesizer part slide it off the green
Anyone have more tips? like seriously, i cant fcking hit more than 6 buttons, and that's when im lucky...
Well, when your holding down the green, make sure the other buttons you press are really quick because if you hold it, the green will not count. Also, memorizing the pattern makes it a lot easier because you dont have to worry about whats coming, youll know.
Blueaa3 Stacker Ye, i guess training does it....
+christoffer granberg - The easiest way of doing is section is: Grab a rubber band or something and hold that on the green fret. Slide it off the fretboard after completing the section. I used to do that until I mastered this section by either one-hand tapping or two-hand tapping
TDPNeji yeah that's good practice at first but you need to be careful because you can mash the green in and it can start acting really weird. I did it with my other guitar and the green always taps itself and I can't pause cuz it resumes on it's own
christoffer granberg slow it down
thank you soooo mutch this is the nicest vis of a tutorial i've ever seen
@asportkingSoF try constantly stumming and always holding down the green fret, then just using your pinkie/ ring finger for the blue, yellow, and orange notes
I love your viedos ! You helped me a lot in practising TTFAF. Thanks bro :D
press green fret and play the other notes with your left hand (remember to lift the red, yellow, blue and orange frets up between the notes, to the green notes to play)
The first note, in this case is red, is a strum note due to there being a black ring on top of the gem with white in the middle. If you look at the other notes afterwards, they don't have a black ring, allowing you to simply push the button after hitting the strum not in front of it. IF you look at danny when he does it slow, he strums the red note and just taps the rest due to the strum note. If you miss the strum note, then you have to strum the white note cause you didnt get the 1st note.
@CometsMasterJF Holding it down hits them all; it's called anchoring. (As long as you don't miss the other colours)
Nice tutorial dude. I didn't know when your doing the hammer ons that you could just hold the green button down and not tap! thats really helpfull. thanks man.
nice tutorial danny! i finally mastered the one-handed method! xD
@Thejeditusken2 His PC version of Guitar Hero 3 is only for custom songs, I think. His XBOX 360 version os for playing the included songs in singleplayer or ONLINE.
These methods will work for any system, so long as you practice hard and get good at them.
I started with the one handed method cause I couldn’t do the 2 hand tap (Blue and orange w/right hand) but eventually I sat down after years and years and finally learned the two handed tap method
that's what i've always done too, but this has me intrigued. i may very well give ghp's method a try.
best tutorial ever for the intro! Thanks danny and keep up the good work :)
I do it a unique way, I think. I sort of apply the one hand method, but I flip my hand over so my pinky (the weakest finger) is holding the green note. Then I use the rest of my fingers to hit the other notes. It's not the easiest thing, but I've adjusted to it and it works well when you practice enough.
Awesome video after watching this i beat though the fire and flames on my first try ive probably beat it close to 100 times now thank you for this video i watched this video about 8 months ago just forgot to comment :)
@jkoev1 he is. Not as much, but go to his profile, there you can find him playing eruption and other songs.
if u look the first one(red) has a normal top but the other ones have like a light on top of them so u can tap them but u need a one note streak
This video is still just as relevant 11 years later
I've noticed most people two it with two hands, but I personally find it easier to just use one hand, hold down the green with my index finger, and use my other three fingers to hit the rest.
at the beginning of the song u gotta hit the red note or it'll make u strum all the notes. i hope that helped.
thank you i am playing like a legend now!
I can do the one handed method really good now i tried the one handed method when i first tried to beat the beggining of the song it just pop up in my head and i knew how to do the beggining really well now i can get 100% on the beggining.thanks for the help
there's also this technique where you can like tape a bottle cap or something against the green note to have it permanently held down, so it makes the intro a whole hell of alot easier
you can also have it on there right up until the singing actually kicks in because you dont see a single chord up until the end of that 2nd section where it goes YYYY, GG, YYYY, GG, YY and so on
just a tip.
i thought it wouldve been in this vid :S
if you wanna play 2-handed, start out on some sections with a lot of hammer-ons on slowest and gradually build up speed. it gets easier with practice
After each hammer on other than the greens you have to let go quick in order to pull off to the greens.
If you only want to just pass this section, try to simply ignore the yellow notes. Before i tried that i lost 4 seconds into the intro, now i can pass every damn time and hit like 82%.
Had to practise it for a few times but when you get it, it's very easy!
i can use 1 or 2 hands but i just have my left index on green, left middle for red, left ring for yellow right middle for both blue and orange and strum with my elbow and ive gotten the beginning easy after a while of practice
I've playing guitar hero 3 since grade 1 and in grade one I was playing on hard , and by now I can can play most songs up until the last 2 stages on expert RIP TTFAF DREAMS
Same, does the other song happen to be "raining blood"? Cuz those 2 are the ones I can't do
Also one fast solo a I can't get that for the life of me... I always miss the yellow strum note in the middle of it
I find raining blood to be second easiest in section 8
I say thanks this really helped danny as for the way to do it but me too used to fuck up at this part put it on hyperspeed 2 and try it it makes less notes so when you go back to normal it seems slow this is how I caught on to it
To be honest I actually found using two hands more difficult. I just used one hand like regularly. But the tutorial did help slot especially how you showed the chart. Thanks alot.
You can use this two handed method for GHSH, I use it all the time.
Thanks a lot for the video man, I know can 100% the intro on slowest and slower. I'm having a bit of trouble timing the red note on slow. I'll keep practicing and hopefully get it soon.
The best tapping method is the left hand on the green red and yellow, right hand on the blue and orange. Saves your endurance instead of using your whole left hand and right hand on the green.
+Damian Kenney
Meh, similar method, except I use the strum hand for the three higher buttons.
you're a god danny johnson
your vid's helped me to beat this song
Its getting easier and easier the more I practice I tried with two hands and failed I can only do it in one hand. When I get to the middle song when I fail. I practice everyday its my fav song and game. Cutting off the green side actually helped on practice I'd only hit the other notes not the green one and it helped allot.
Thanks man helped me so far I can play it on slow working my way up
nicely done Danny, you're a champ.
@TheDarkSiDer97 hammer on. is what the "pros" on gh use to do the fast solos, when the gems is whit a bright light on its top u can prees it whiout struming again
oh you think that's hard THIS WAS JUST THE TUTORIAL LEVEL!!! THAT'S THE NEXT LEVEL OVER THERE!
You should do a tutorial on the 1st bridge doubletaps.
You can use the first finger on your left hand and you can tap the notes with your right hand. did you know that?
Personally, I hold the Green with my left index, then use my left middle and ring for the Red and Yellow. I use my right index for the Blue, and middle for the Orange. It's all about that smooth transition from the strum that messes me up, but once I got that it's not hard as long as I don't sustain any note too long by mistake.
I try to do the same, and can do well on the slowest and slower, but slow and full speed I have problems with.
***** It's very, very rare I can get it right, lol..Whenever I go to a friend's house, I usually just pretend I can't do it just so they don't ask me to try..
You strum the Red note a little tiny bit earlier. You have to hit the frets without even holding them for 1 second. You have to literally TAP it. You cannot even hold it for 0.8 seconds.
Very helpful. However, the green notes DO exist. If they didn't you could go straight from red to yellow to blue, but because the greens are there, you have to lift off red before hitting yellow. This is what causes the most combo breaks for me.
I do the keyboard-style, where the wrist goes over the neck. I then have my pinky held on green. It's a guaranteed combo break when I have to flip my wrist back around for the rest of the song, but those scales are a guaranteed combo break anyways.
Trying so hard , never to late to learn wanted to do his forever finally picked it back up and I'm going to do this bet the game on expert now this is next ps. Miss u Danny stream sometime
Your exactly right, I couldn't understand why I wasn't hitting them, then I learned that i had to tap then I got it down.
thanks, didn't know about that you just can hold the green note :D
@PyhaMikrofoni
i anchor down the green note, and with my left hand, press Red and Yellow and tap Blue and Orange with my right hand.. works for me:P
Instructions unclear. Testicles stuck in ceiling fan
Omg, Thanks you so much for the tutorials. I thought i need to press the green button fast and focus on other, i never knew that the green button can hold and it will auto stroke.
MrLennonson But i only can do at slowest, slower and slow only. When i play full speed, I will missed it, and i have no idea why i miss it and I press perfectly the frets. :/
+MrLennonson You have to release your fingers off of every note except green EXTREMELY fast. This was my problem until I figured it out.
+Samuel White omg thanks lol
+Lukas Bryggman np :)
thanks man i can finally beat the intro not at 100 % but 95-96 % thanks man
now i have to practice the solo
This helps so much thanks a ton Danny!
@Jvizzlezz I agree... I can play everything on expert from Warriors of Rock, World Tour, Metallica, and everything in Legends of Rock except for One (the solo, which I CAN do in the Metallica version), and the intro for Through The Fire and Flames. This game is freaking hard...
@reevo99 That's what i'm doing, i think the problem is that when it comes down to the yellow/blue/orange notes, I don't hit it fast enough, or hold it down too long. I have the same problem when I play Fury of the Storm at the Pre-verse strumfest.
His one-handed is so awesome, that the camera shook.
this is exactly what i was looking for. thx.
omg i actually can do that 100% every time. but theres a crazy solo thing at the end of bridge 1 i think with like loads of oranges and its like impossible. you should make a video about how to do that as well
