The guys steering the ship at Bethesda have been in the game long enough to know that when you're getting that serious flak, it's because you're doing well & some people just don't like it.
I am having a great time with the game and I love the new changes. Everyone has their own approach to the game. I am enjoying mine. The updates just make it better. This just happened. I was in my ship, about to head to my resource collection outpost to upgrade some spacesuits, and I am attacked by pirates. I destroy two of them and board the last one. I don't want the ship, but I do take weapons, money, and contraband. But now that I have the contraband, I can't go to my resource outpost on Jemison, outside New Atlantis. So I go to one of my manufacturing outposts where I hoard contraband. I am on the ship platform after dumping my contraband and I glance over at a nearby hilltop mesa and see a ship. Is that an Ecliptic Claymore III? Yes it is. And when I look at the map, I can see two other nearby ships, but I can tell the Claymore is the better choice. I've been wanting one anyway because I want to modify it. The 3D map also lets me see what the terrain is actually like that I will be crossing. So I get there and nab the ship. For some odd reason (bug?) it's empty. So I just take it. But once in orbit I realize that I did not walk about to search for any contraband, so I get out my seat. And that's when more Ecliptic ships jump in and start attacking me. Makes sense, I just stole one of their ships. I jump back into my seat and take care of them. Afterwards, I just land back at the manufacturing outpost and change back to my first ship and now I am about to fly back to my resource outpost to continue what I had planned to do in the first place, but now I have a ship I had been wanting anyway and an unplanned adventure. This is what I expect from a Bethesda game. You are going about your business and this happens. So you respond to that and it makes you decide to do something else, but you notice this on the way, so you change to do that thing, and then this other thing happens. We need more opportunities for these kind of emergent series of events.
[Update] Apparently my little adventure was not over. I returned to my resource base, but stayed on the ship and started upgrading spacesuits. I was running low on fiber and decided to start up this little greenhouse I have on the property to start growing fiber resources. I heard some roaring sounds and start looking out windows to see what it is. I can't see anything because of all the trees. I thought maybe that was a ship taking off from New Atlantis, in the distance. So I get outside to find my base under attack by Ecliptic pirates! It's been a loooong time since one of my bases was under attack by pirates. I don't think it's a coincidence. They attacked me because I stole one of their ships. Very cool if so. They did take down my power grid, but no big deal to repair.
100% agreed. THIS is what makes Bethesda games so good is the random encounters in between when traveling from point A to point B that takes you in an entirely new direction and by the time its all taken care of you almost forgot what you originally set out to do. If they can bring more aspects like this to Starfield that would be great. Hopefully your adventure in the Beta update was not a coincidence but something they are testing to make the game more interesting.
@@circuitscore This is exactly what I was talking about in my rant - Fallout always had something around every turn, Starfield was just - BLAH! Looking forward to the update to hit my xBox - Later

That "amitan.." character has posted sarky comments under any post that resembles a criticism here.. weird. It would be an extremely bad way to try to help Starfield... bound to backfire but who knows.. that could even be their real agenda. (I havent played the game, this is just based on reviews:) I have also been thinking about this travel problem, in particular what could be done without a massive overhaul of the core engine. I believe it would be quite easy to make an inspace level that let you fly from 100km above any planet to any other. Im not too fussed with the not being able to fly from orbit seamlessly to the ground. It would be nice for sure, but a pretty small think for a heap of work. Another issue is the "invisible wall" I hear about on the ground. One simple fix for that, that I suspect even a modder will be able to add, would be to add the requirement to camp occasionally. As you near the edge of the map it begins to ping you to set up camp for a bit, and if you ignore too long it will just trigger the camp setup automatically. This would let the game regenerate the map around your current coordinates. All you need is a way to present this to the player in a plausible way.
The most obvious (and probably easiest) thing for modders to fix will probably be the repetition of special locations I have heard about. Assuming those bases are constructed in a fairly modular way, it should be easy for almost anyone with the creation kit to make a new location and have just a bit of unique environmental storytelling.
Starfield needs a DLC named (The Creator) sending you on a journey to the creator jumping from omniverse to omniverse fighting different versions of what the “Starborn” was ment to be with different types of multiverse’s and different kinds of “Unity’s” while allowing you to become something like the emissary and build a following of “starborn” and or bring along your crew through the unity or whatever else they create it to be like the unity but for the omniverse’s also letting you create a fleet that follows you around would be cool too.
Don't need a larger carry capacity and -8xp if you change the settings to access your ship inventory then just transfer everything to your ship and then change the settings back. Before the update you could only access your ships inventory within a certain radius (distance) of it.
I think I may understand the ship cargo access means on here 3:00 I realized not to long ago that I can not just access my ships cargo from outside of the ship, but can transfer cargo. Example. You're at Jemison Mercantile. You buy tons of resources. You can store that in your ships cargo right from standing in the store. I believe the furthest is 220m away from your ship. Thanks for sharing your video.
Does the cargo access distance allow you to transfer and dump all materials into storage containers, like in the Lodge) without taking multiple trips or just one exceptionally slow one between the ship?
That is what I assumed it was about. Also when outside wondering you can access you shops cargo to drop off or pick up within like 250 meters or something. With this you can make it unlimited. I'm curious if you can go from a interior cell(dungeons effectively) to ship cargo with unlimited. If so increasing your own carry limit is kind of pointless.
The new map makes the tiles look very small, but I found out, what you see is not the whole tile at all, the whole map will move according to your position on it, it goes much further...
to be clear with the new map, it's only showing a certain amount of tiles/ grids for the are you've landed. if you place a marker near the edge and head towards it, more map will load and the ones behind you will unload. might be tied to the ini setting ugrids which controls how many grids to load around you. perhaps it's view distance. idk. hopefully modders will either add a fog effect to hide the harsh edges of the loaded map or maybe bethesda will.
also ship decorating is part of the new update. it's basically anything you could place inside your home/ apartment. also empty modules that add crew spots are a thing. so you can get more crew, but still decorate them how you want.
I hope modders can take the map update and make it even better as well. OR maybe even remove the map limitations entirely. Yeah I knew decorating the ship was part of the update I think I just got overly excited about the self clearing bounty station that can now be placed in our ships 😅
All of this should have been in the game already… man these companies simply just half assing things now. I’m just glad they finally added some good things.
I haven't played since the first 2 weeks of release but this difficulty change is exactly what i wanted now i can have a ton of carry space and have vendors a ton of credits
I never cared about the small size of cities in BGS games. Everything is small scale in games like these, or you couldn't fill them up with handmade content. I love CP77, the city is amazing, but there is next to nothing to do in it. I prefer the BGS approach, it represents a big city and I can suspend my disbelief for it.
@@DerSektenspinner It's not the actual size that bothers me it's the lack of any suspension of disbelief of the size that the new maps cause. I used to be able to look at the skyline of NA and think, this is big, now I pull up the map and that skyline no longer hides how small it really is.
Story wise they aren't massive cities, they are recovering from global destruction and are just the next couple generations of the survivors. New Atlantis would have a decent population as its a city with skyscrapers. I just wish you could actually go into the, and see every floor, not just one floor for a quest or something. They are the biggest for a bethesda game, but bethesda games focus on what is outside of the city not what is in it. So they will look small compared to games where the focus is the city like GTA, cyberpunk etc. That being said I get what you mean, akila city looks like a village.
@@Ahglock The game makes it out like a large portion of earth's population was able to escape due to the grav drives, in the past 100 years, earths population grew by over 400%. While, that trend is going down with time, that's largely due to incentives to not keep producing in large countries like China and the US. Assuming after leaving earth, those incentives would no longer exist, it's pretty much guaranteed that child birthrates would likely go up with fewer people spread out across multiple planets, so let's just assume similar shrinking growth rates to RL until the earth is escaped in the 2150's, so a global population of around ~6.5 billion. Then they escape and the population would grow faster now that they don't have any government enforcements or incentives to prevent procreation, so a doubling of population every 50 years or so would be likely, and with 180 years to go, I'd estimate the galactic population by 2330 should be around 41 billion people. That's still relatively low considering there are ~150 or so habitable planets in the settled systems, which would put an average population of about 277 million per habitable planet, but that would still mean that major settlements like NA should be fairly large, and the game just doesn't really do justice to them. Not to mention that skyscrapers don't make any sense if the city is so small population wise when they literally have an entire planet that they could spread to without having to build massive vertical buildings. But all of that, is just my 2 cents on the matter, and clearly, the game just isn't trying to be realistic.
Thanks for the great content as always! I hope the update is good as it is slated to be - it has not yet made it to my xBox. The thing is, I was so deep into Fallout 4 because of all it had to offer with no copy and paste sites, multiple characters, quests, and things happening around every corner on one small destroyed planet whereas all the planets, solar systems and galaxy seem to be lacking. I was into Fallout 4 for so long I did not realize my xBox Gold was expired for a year and a half. I was getting bored with Starfield big time and only played once a week or so! I mean think about it, almost (not all but almost) everyone's complaint and video on TH-cam was about not being able to "steal ships" (one activity) - it appeared that was all people looked forward to - Fallout had sssoooo much more behind every rock, corner and inside buildings. Here's hoping the new Starfield update provides the needed for me. In any case, that's my rant but keep up the GREAT WORK and CONTENT! I'll be looking for more. Have a good one!
I try to keep it as fresh as I can and I appreciate the kind words! I hear ya thought in regards to FO4 compared to Starfield. I started a new playthrough of FO4 recently and it really is so much more immersive than Starfield is. The problem starfield has is there are no random encounters if traveling from say point A to point B where you get so sidetracked that you forget what the primary goal was like both Skyrim and FO4 had. The instant travel in Starfield kinda ruined that charm. However it does sound like Bethesda is trying to bring some of those type encounters to the game as another commenter mentioned they had a pretty crazy run in with the Ecliptic in the Beta after stealing one of their ships. I haven't had a chance yet to confirm. But anyways thanks for watching. You have a good one as well!
It’s not like the land vehicles are gonna matter because when you land on a planet, the map isn’t that big so where are you going with that land vehicle?
Good point. Didn't think about that part however it will still be great for exploration. Although it is a limited area its still pretty sizable. Especially if you are on foot.
Okay, I searched your content and can’t find it and although it is a different subject, here goes! I have every snow globe (I’m pretty sure) but because NASA ids locked op, the key is locked up and the ECS Constant is no where to be found, I never knew to read the books and now can’t get to them. That being said, I guess the quest is not satisfied and I can’t get the space suit! Any idea if a fix is coming for this or is there something I have to actually do with the globes - Thanks
I just checked the change log of the starfield beta update I reviewed. Didn't see a fix for snow globes quest unfortunately. I haven not done that quest yet fully so not sure.
Okay building on your ship decorating it is the new feature coming with this update your reviewing as for the clear bounty board you could always build one on a base as well as the terminal to get cargo missions and kill Pirates etcetera they could both be built on a base. The new empty modules for ships you can decorate with only certain items that would be placeable in an outpost habitat.
Yeah but now you can have a self clearing bounty station on your ships so you don't need to go to your outpost to clear a bounty. This is going to be SO nice for the way I play this game. I constantly antagonize the UC and Crimson Fleet 😂
5.4 million active players overall, just to give u examples.... Bg3 is 1.2 million, lies of p is 800k... Starfield, id say is doing quite well for itself, for a "boring game"
@@amitansurkar1769 there's definitely a silent majority who are playing or eagerly awaiting the update to jump back in (myself included). I thought Starfield was pretty good, has some flaws but has potential if Bethesda keep working on it.
@@Sneakyboson let me tell u something... The internet loves to hate on this game, make it seem like it's dead... But people who are off the internet, don't bother with it and keep playing

My point was that compared to other open world games by Bethesda when looking at a site like Steam Charts Starfield is sitting at 7,800 concurrent players ranked number 153 overall where as Fallout 4 is sitting at 119,500 concurrent players ranked number 8 overall as of May 11th. For a game that is 8 years newer those arnt very good numbers.
It really annoys me that every update for starfield is just "Oh we put in stuff that should have been in day one." every one of them... If they game was this undercooked maybe they should have waited a little longer to get it done.
@@bubsterr741 This is why every new game I just sit and wait to see what happens with it before I even think of buying it and I have to say it has been saving me a lot of money doing that.
100% agreed. The current trend in the gaming industry is release now fix later. It incredibly anti consumer and needs to stop. This isn't just Starfield either, Cyberpunk (even though the recent praise) released in a worse state than this game. I feel like I have more faith in an indie game studio than these massive AAA studios.
Don’t need a dlc or anything pls jus fix the bugs Bethesda. when I can’t do a mission because of a bug that means I can’t beat the game entirely and that is beyond frustrating
Thank you for the clarification. I interpreted it as locked 60fps which is still pathetic that they can hit that when compared to other games in the same vein.
I think it is quirky that the combat choices wont negatively impact your XP but convenience features will. I love the game but that feels kind of petty on their part, like they are irritated people don't agree with their broke traders philosophy.
You know that is pretty strange honestly. Maybe because you could always switch the difficulty to very easy without penalty and they don't want to anger their current audience by "taking" that away from them without penalty.
I was so happy about the update it was running great, but today it's trying to melt my CPU and my fps is garbage, I was running around 100fps and around 80 in the cities now it's dropping below 40. So as much as I love the game, I can't play if it's going to melt my CPU.

(havent played, based on reviews) This would be one of my first requests too, because I had just come from playing New Vegas. The real potential I see for a game like Starfield is if it becomes like the Traveller TTRPG, just a setting that a thousand stories can be told within. With new AI speech generation tools we can get to the point where anyone with the creation kit can make their own quests with competently voiced NPCs.

The new map makes the tiles look very small, but I found out, what you see is not the whole tile at all, the whole map will move according to your position on it, it goes much further...
That is good to know! I will have to check that out.
to be clear with the new map, it's only showing a certain amount of tiles/ grids for the are you've landed. if you place a marker near the edge and head towards it, more map will load and the ones behind you will unload. might be tied to the ini setting ugrids which controls how many grids to load around you. perhaps it's view distance. idk. hopefully modders will either add a fog effect to hide the harsh edges of the loaded map or maybe bethesda will.
also ship decorating is part of the new update. it's basically anything you could place inside your home/ apartment. also empty modules that add crew spots are a thing. so you can get more crew, but still decorate them how you want.
With a delay, but I don't think people would have been happy with an additional 8 month wait.
Yeah its unfortunate the Gaming industry has turned to release now fix late approach.
I haven't played since the first 2 weeks of release but this difficulty change is exactly what i wanted now i can have a ton of carry space and have vendors a ton of credits
Yeah Im planning on starting an Extreme play through with all survival mode settings turned on. Should make things interesting.
The surface maps are great, but I hate how they really showcase how incredibly tiny these supposedly large cities are....
@@matilija I guess our perspective is different then, the map matches how the city felt to me, probably because it's a 1 to 1 representation of it.
What's good about the new system is you can toggle the increased carry capacity as needed to avoid the exp penalty ;)
Thats a good point. So just turn it on and off as needed. I like it!
@@circuitscore SPOT ON! Exactly what I was into FO4 so much for!
@@circuitscore Many thanks
Okay building on your ship decorating it is the new feature coming with this update your reviewing as for the clear bounty board you could always build one on a base as well as the terminal to get cargo missions and kill Pirates etcetera they could both be built on a base. The new empty modules for ships you can decorate with only certain items that would be placeable in an outpost habitat.
Yeah but now you can have a self clearing bounty station on your ships so you don't need to go to your outpost to clear a bounty. This is going to be SO nice for the way I play this game. I constantly antagonize the UC and Crimson Fleet 😂
5 million active players a month is good for a single player. Of course you won't see concurrent ones though. Not a live service game.
@@Sneakyboson Also new games come out and will distract you. I dipped for a bit to play FF7 rebirth, I'm checking out the fallout 4 update and playing stellar blade now, I'll be back into starfield on the 15th when the patch goes live. I'm sure I will dip again when another game distracts me and then be back for shattered space.
Honestly, that's literally every game these days. Paying full price for early access.
@@bubsterr741 This is why every new game I just sit and wait to see what happens with it before I even think of buying it and I have to say it has been saving me a lot of money doing that.
So what you're saying is they shouldn't have added stuff that players asked for. Got it.
@derekbateman7378 No, what he's saying is the game should have launched complete. My God, I hope you don't vote.
The latest beta did add quite a few Quest bugs. Hopefully the stable build once released will address your issues.
I don’t know if I wanna come back until the expansion comes out. I haven’t played since I finished it at launch
That's fair. Yeah I think players will revisit once Creation Kits, Vehicles, and the DLC is released.
Hope they fix stealth
Stealth seems fine to me.
Anyone know when Starfield comes out of early access?
🤣 Good one
It's a VRR increase not actually fps.
VRR doesn't take 30fps to 60
Thank you for the clarification. I interpreted it as locked 60fps which is still pathetic that they can hit that when compared to other games in the same vein.
Are you on PC or Xbox? Never mind I saw you mouse moving
PC now. Although I also have an Xbox Series X which is what I used to record my videos on.
I think it is quirky that the combat choices wont negatively impact your XP but convenience features will. I love the game but that feels kind of petty on their part, like they are irritated people don't agree with their broke traders philosophy.
Broke traders? Go to neon. Over 50k credits for less than 5 minutes strolling around.
You know that is pretty strange honestly. Maybe because you could always switch the difficulty to very easy without penalty and they don't want to anger their current audience by "taking" that away from them without penalty.
I did download it again but I have been enjoying fallout 76 so idk when I’ll get around to starfield
Ive been play FO4 lately so I get it!
I was so happy about the update it was running great, but today it's trying to melt my CPU and my fps is garbage, I was running around 100fps and around 80 in the cities now it's dropping below 40. So as much as I love the game, I can't play if it's going to melt my CPU.
What are you specs? I didnt notice a huge hit on my system. 7900x3d and 4080 Super here.
@@circuitscore Rog z690 mother board, 12th generation I7, 32 gigs memory. And what's the weak link a 3070ti with only 8gig. But I ain't buying a new card yet, they're so expensive. As far as heating up, this happened when the game first launched and then the fixed it. It seems like they're doing things on the fly, some days it's running great and poof the next day things are different. My computer usually runs real cool playing other games, I have a huge water cooled radiator with three fans and the rest of the case has five.
@@nywolf9798 Interesting. I will have to look out for that. Need to get MSI Afterburner setup as I just built this computer a couple months ago. Maybe my parts are heating up I just didn't realize it haha.
@@circuitscore I played around with the setting and it's working a lot better, hasn't overheated since. But I didn't need to turn this setting off before the update. I honestly wish they could fix things without breaking things, but I guess that's how it goes.
Yeah, until xbox close this down or Cut the tram behind it when it Will lunch after not meeting sales exportations on a Platform where Games are free... MS are was ans still be nuts
Shutting down those studios was wild. I cant believe they did that. Gaming industry looking worse and worse every day.
Untie characters to quests. Make it possible to vaporize any Character in starfield. I got bored of Starfield that I have not played it in over a month.
Bro so you've been playing it for 7 months then..... Ofc you're gonna get bored of playing one single game for 7 months straight, and, when the said game is a singleplayer..... I haven't played it in over a month either, but I love this game.... Don't try to throw shade at it just to seem like a "cool guy"
@@peterd9698 damn, your asking for a game, that'll that 50 yrs to make..... So people like you exist too then

Not yet. I am guessing this will happen winter 2024.
This game made me even more bored with life/suicidal than I already was thanks Todd 😂😂😂
To each their own. I've been having fun with the game.
I dont understand the hate behind this game considering Fallout 4 is more boring and empty but for some fucking reason everyone loves Fallout 4.
Agreed I do like Starfield and I think it gets too much hate however I disagree that FO4 is boring. I can get lost in that game for hours.
I haven’t played in over a month either
Yeah its been a few weeks for me as well. Been replaying FO4 lately.
This map system was totally needed for Neon. Navigating that city SUCKED
I know right. I kept finding areas in Neon that I didn't even realize existed until playing for hours.
I won't buy until they fixed meele.
Didn't know that was broken
@@circuitscore Skyrim you had four types of heavy attack, you could use maces, swords, hammers, daggers, one hand, two hands, two handed, fluid combat. In Starfield is three moves that repeat and all meele weapons are basically the same, only the damage is higher.
@@hanzojapa Oh I see what you mean. I mean thats the difference in general from a medieval themed game compared to a futuristic game. Not much more they could do unless they introduced light sabors or something along those lines. Cybernetics like Cyber Punk maybe 🤔
Co-Op
They will release an entirely new game like what Fallout 76 is before adding Co-Op unfortunately.

“Cool” update i wouldn’t even say it’s note worthy really. At least it wouldn’t for any other game.
Nah. I'd say the difficulty settings are noteworthy. But the map should have been like that at launch, and the fact we finally can change our traits after going through unity. I hate the trait that comes with a house. It's useless to me.
@@CharlesVanexX but if we are going to be so nitpicky, then there are quite literally so many games that have updates that should have been there at launch, but no one ever says that for those games, why only starfield? I get it, it's so that you don't seem like you're completely defending the game, just to please the hate train 😂
I do think people WILL come back to the game once creation kit and land vehicles are released. However I am loving the direction they are going with this game. Realistically this game probably needed some more time in the oven. Id assume the Microsoft overlords pushed them to release the game by holidays.
@@circuitscore I agree the creation kit and land vehicles will bring people back I would have been happy if that was the update. Instead I’m just annoyed that that stuff wasn’t even given a release date and yet they thought it was necessary to release a documentary video for what little they added. That speaks volumes on what they think a huge success is which is maps, difficulty options, and decorations mechanics on ships all stuff that should have been in the game at launch. This is Bethesda thinking they did great job and not them realizing their doing the bare minimum a game needs at launch. Point is Bethesda still full themselves and are not stepping up like people wanted them to. Remember it been eight months this what they have to show us.
